  • THANK YOU JOHNATHAN LARSON!!!! <3

  • that note gave me chills =D

  • please have a listen to the Remix of Measure Your Life, It is above in the responses. Thanks.

  • I loved the ending when they sang part of Seasons of Love. Shivers.

  • Why wasn't Jesse there?? D:

  • @EchoSinger cos Jesse was in the movie version together with Rosario Dawson..Taye Diggs,Idina Menzel are in the original Broadway show..they met there n got married. They were then cast in thje movie version. The one who intro the cast..Anthony was another one in the broadway version as well n the movie.

  • Comment removed

  • @CrazeeEZ No, Jesse was part of the OBC too...

The only new members of the cast who did the movie versione were Rosario Dawson and Tracie Thoms

so he should have been there too

  • @EchoSinger Hey you are right Jesse was in the OBC.. my bad..and he was my fav singer among all the guys.It is kinda strange he aint there ..most likely he had a shoot and was unable to make for that awards show.

  • @CrazeeEZ He was my faveourite too D:

    I guess so... but that's a pity

  • THat note is just so amazing in seasons of love =]

  • DUDE I TOTALLY MET ANTHONY RAPP!!!! HE WAS SO COOL!!!! I LOVE THIS PLAY/MUSICAL AND ITS MY DREAM TO BE IN IT SOMEDAY!!!!

  • Where's Jesse? -_-

And the newer cast lacked something. I don't know. I don't really like them. And I don't like Adam Kantor's Mark...

  • I will NOT cry,I will not cry...ahhh screw it.Waaaaaah!

Also, I had the opportunity to see the revival with Tamyra and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed. I mean she is a better choice than vanessa hudgens but I've seen two live performances of rent in my life. The first being the revival which was..okay. The second a local production that kicked some major ass.I've never been s happy to be mooned in my entire life than watching la vie boheme in the local production.

    Long live RENT!!! :)

  • yes i just cried

  • Booby Garcia of the Garcia family of Forbes Park, Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines, directed RENT in the Philippines and Avenue Q.

  • Omg! My fourth grade class sang the song the original class sang! I never knew it was from rent! So cool!

  • @catthecatcher Your fourth grade class sang about dildos and sodomy?

  • @JessicaVictification he said the original cast. which means they sang seasons of love, which incidentally, is not about dildos and sodomy.

  • @torchwoodlurve Oops, I misread it, no need to be snarky :) And it's technically not incidental if it was intentionally written not about dildos and sodomy.

  • @JessicaVictification who ever gave you the impression that the writing was intentional.

  • @torchwoodlurve Um....... okay, this is a waste of my time. Have a GREAT life.

  • @torchwoodlurve thank you for clearing that up for miss 'JessicaVictification', because my fourth grade class would TOTALLY sing about dildos and sodomy. Good lord...

  • i know they arnt the original cast but should rosario and tracie not be there 2??

  • Who is playing Mimi in the newer cast?

  • @EnaRoberto Rosario Dawson

  • @steph9217 no, rosario dawson is in the movie, not the broadway cast.

  • @EnaRoberto the Mimi on stage is Tamyra Grey from American Idol

  • is it just me or does anthony rapp and this guy playing mark cohen now have a very similar voice?!?! :P

  • ok i only watched this video cuz i wanna know why carlos pena likes this stuff

  • So I was messing around on YouTube and came across this clip. And yes emm5683...I did have tears. I consider myself one of the original "Rent-heads". In '96 I slept outside the theatre waiting for front row tickets about 15 times. I even made my Mom do it with me one day. It was truely one of the most life-changing moments of my life.

  • I love when the lady who sings the lead in this is about to hit the notes and everyone is looking down at her, like let's she does she still have it! Lol

    Love Idina!

  • Idina is so freakin' cute in this :)

  • Is that Eden as Maureen??

  • @LittleMissMe2006 Yes it is. And of course she always is to ,Idina being cute in this.

  • @LittleMissMe2006 I believe so. :)

  • whenever they show patti lupone she looks absolutely clueless lmao...

  • WHY THE FUCK DID IT CLOOOOOSSEEEE!?!?!?!?!?!

  • 16 people r heartless and dont get music or the message

  • at 4:52 i wanna reach into my screen and punch the two guys not clapping!!!

  • TAYE & IDINA FOREVERRRR! <3

  • that is such a magical note!

  • ...they screwed up La Vie Boheme...I mean the first group

  • @Jaonellcob they jumped around

  • ...they screwed up La Vie Boheme...

  • This was when Tamyra Gray played Mimi!

  • I love how in La Vie Boheme, Eden's voice stands out among the others in such a powerful way. Got to love her.

  • Thank you Idina, and to all of you guys. Rent changed my life too.

  • lol lmao! Lupones expression is like "Seriously people...just gimme the tony already, im sick of this shit" bahaah tooo fuckin priceless!!!!

  • Kinda sad Jesse L Martin wasn't there

  • Patti Lupone looks constipated

  • meassure your life in love..... greatest message....

  • That's the lady in Glee!

  • I love how they all turn to her expectantly for THAT note, it's so lovely :)

  • @catrionaclarke and she most certainly delivered :-)

  • I hate that they switch to show Brooke Shields..............she doesn't even know when to clap............

  • The song gives me goosepimples... Her voice, that note omg I love it!!!

and tears ready to just fall out!"

  • The original cast... <3 <3 EXCEPT Tracie Thoms and Rosario Dawson should be there <3

  • I've never paid much attention to Rent before (and Musical theater for that matter).

Is it cheesy if I say that 'Glee' helped me discover the amazingness of Broadwayyyy?

  • @allthatshines While it depresses me a little because Broadway is so incredible BEFORE Glee was ever even considered... at least it's bring new comers :) And I do love Glee ;)

So welcome to the world of Broadway!

  • They should have gotten a 10 minute standing ovation!!

    :D

But ...Tony Awards, they can't get late :/

Wish the OBC, or the movie cast could play one last performance... I'd travel the world to see it! ♥

    LOVE RENT!

  • @IchLiebenBill taye diggs is her husband? was he in the movie with her too?

  • @emm5683 Yup...

  • @friendsruleall and when she talks about how rent changed hers+tayes lives

Ps I think walker is gonna be damn sexy

  • I loe how the audience cheered the most when idina started talking!!

  • @FriendsRuleAll Omg i love idina, she is ammazing, and soo sweet!! my Idol!

  • Ooo, chills, and tears . . . Thanks, Jonathan Larson. You communicated a message to the world, one that no one else could have. That it's not about where you come from or what you've done, it's about who you are.

  • Rent is a symbol for all people over the world what had HIV or AIDA that life gors on and you are not less important to the world nor you are different from the rest of people.

  • awww Idina and Taye :)

  • I was soo fortunate to get to see the last broadway cast when they showed it in movie theatres for one day it was awesome... The whole theatre was filled with a bunch of RENTheads. fun fun fun

  • The guy who played Mark in the 2008 broadway version was still in College during this I think and He's so talented. But I still love Anthony Rapp

  • I LOVE the shot just before Gwen Stewart nails the epic high note, and the entire cast is standing there watching her with smiles on their faces.

  • this is truly wonderful. i will always love rent!

  • wow... just great... how can I find words for that...

  • measure your life in love. how can a message get any better than that? i love these people.

  • Love it!

Too bad Tracie was not there!

  • Everytime I watch this and Joanne hits that golden note, I cry.

  • @Rockoder10 actually...that isn't joanne...that is "seasons of love" soloist (gwen stewart)...joanne (fredi walker) is standing beside her...the character joanne only sings that in the movie

  • I like how everyone looks at Joanne when she is about to do the high note.

  • Where was Jesse L.? :(

  • That's a bit higher than the original key.

  • who is the woman in the green?

  • @Lizco77 Daphne Rubin-Vega, The Mimi of the original broadway cast

  • I think I've commented on this before, but this makes me cry...every single time.

  • @DonRonter people do still die from aids. they live longer now because of the advances in medicine but they still die from it.

  • I love how when everyone else speaks its quiet and then when Idina opens her mouth to speak and everone cheers(:

  • what is the name of the first song?

  • @jequiclan it's called la vie boheme :)

  • @jequiclan la vie boheme

  • Dear they are too wonderful. : )

    Teared up. <3

  • i love the reaction when idina started talking

  • This just gives me goosebumps

  • prefer the original cast :)

  • I LOOOOVE idina's face when the crowd starts yelling just because she started talking shes like "i know its me i love u all now shut up" haha <3

  • @ElphieBeGood Yeah.....

  • At first I was shocked at how they all had changed, but when they started singing, it didn't matter- the chemistry and music and message were all the same.

  • MAGIC..thats what it is..

  • Everytime i watch this i get shivers and just find it so emotional. Rent is.....wow there is not enough to say how amazing it actually is.

Also loved the cute Idina and Taye moments so adorable :D

  • Why did they let "Faggots, lezzies and dykes" be said on TV here and not in the American Idiot performance in this year's tony's?

  • i just started crying

i miss this show so much. it really helped me so much. i am bi and it helped me cope with it. i love Rent. it was a big part of my life

  • 4:08 MAGICAL!

  • this made me cry soooooooooo hard!

  • goosebumps is all i can say, goosebumps.

  • @iDancer103 Don't like the way the original Joanne hit's it though, she goes "measure you life in lo- oooooh!" where as Tracey Tomme (movie and last broadway Joanne) goes "measure your life in lo-oooove" intigrating the high note into the word, emphasising the word instead of shortening it.

  • @liammccabe05 ...a few things...one, she isn't the original joanne, she is the original seasons of love soloist (her name is gwen stewart), they're separate parts in the show, but were combined for the movie...also, for the last broadway cast, the original (gwen) was also part of it and sang that same part...and finally, as can be heard in the movie version, joanne does the same thing, she just holds the first part for a second longer "loooo - ohhhhhhhhhhh!"

  • Omg, I think I started crying...Jonathon Larson was a guienes who died far too young...RIP and thank you for such a life changing musical...for everyone right down to Idina and Taye ;)

  • I was lucky enough this year to see the Broadway tour (with Anthony and Adam) in CA, and it was as poignant as ever. "Thank you, Jonathon Larson," indeed.

  • It is such a shame that this absolutely brilliant and wonderful musical is so unknown in Germany!

  • would have been cool if they had done this to celebrate their 525,600 performance

  • @Azrael666Azazel ...that wouldn't be for YEARS...in its 12 year run it did 5,124 performances...so they'd all be long dead before they reached that...but that would be cool if it could happen

  • I had the wonderful opportunity to portray Mark, let me just say that so much more emotion goes into this show than anyone can even comprehend, every night I was on stage there were always moments when something I sang or another of our cast would sing that took every bit of effort to not let the tears flow.. Thank you SO MUCH Jonathan Larson for everything!!!

  • Well this certainly had made my day and cheered me up. RIP Jonathan Larson. You are a legend, your words are amazing. Let Rent live on in every fans heart!!!

  • I love it when Idina says: "And it changed our lives" and then she gives Taye the most adorable and loving look<3

  • @ninskimig123 Definitely :)

  • Who in the HELL is that soloist? She is phenomenal!

  • @TreyvonThomas Gwen Stewart she was part of the original and final cast

  • I'm not sure if I've ever heard of a musical so blatantly simple, yet so undeniably real.

  • i love seasons of love at the end of the local production of rent everyone just stood up and started clapping along. it was awesome

  • Still love Rent. <3
