  • Everyone really needs to watch the film "Burma VJ"

  • the canadian steps up

  • I'm from burma i'm suprised people care for my country, especially american actors :S

  • since when does jim carrey have long hair

  • ace stop reading

  • wow this is not getting any coverage at all, last comment over a month ago?

  • I felt sad about this

  • This is one of the many, many reasons this man has been my hero and idol for as long as I can remember. He's such a caring and kind person. He's just so..genuine. I want to be just like him someday.

  • The UN have done nothing to help the people of Burma. We need to keep putting pressure on them to actually stand up for human rights for once, and not just try to appease an undemocratic, brutal regime.

  • Why can't the world, UN, NATO, ASEAN do something about Burma? Than Shwe is worst than Saddam. He's just like Hitler or Pol Pot.

With ethnic cleansing of Karen tribe and mismanagement of their own people, it's time for international intervention. Just like what NATO did in Kosavo.

Burma is also world biggest drugs exporter. They use drugs money to by weapons to kill their own people. Enough is enough it's time to remove the military junta from power.

  • first time ive seen carrey being serious

  • You shouldn't forget that the Myanmese (Burmese) military regime is killing of all 'enemies' to themselves which also means that those who were in previous contact of U.S. citizens and military personnel are dead or being killed.

Also some of my friends I made there. They should be stopped but we don't and that is our flaw

  • I admire his sincerity.

    Very nice video.

  • after the cyclone of Burma, some orphans were caught and sold to thailand to be prostitute. hong kong bloggers start an action to send e-mail to the thai embrassy to urge the thai govt to save the helpless kids. THIS IS AN ACTION BEYOND BOUNDARY. the kids need your action!

Pls send your concern of this crime to the Thai embassy in your country.

Feds: U.S. defense analyst leaked secrets to China

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A Defense Department weapons system analyst and three Chinese nationals have been arrested and charged in two espionage-related cases, prompting a top Justice Department official Monday to declare Chinese espionage is approaching "Cold War levels."

  • i was waiting for Jim to bustout with something funny! um... didn't happen

  • Thank's for caring Jim. Let's do Something

  • good vid, but at 31 seconds he almost says billion haha

  • haha its a good video and at 31 seconds he almost says billion instead of million

  • Good on ya Jimmy,

There is a big group of people here in Scarborough that say even in your youth you were a top class kind of guy. This video just goes to prove it! I have been to the aerea and the general population of the region are the kindest people I have ever seen. Like YOU Jim. Give to the cause everyone, it is well worthy and money better spent than many other causes. Here is to you Jim, and here is to your Canadian personality and Aung San Suu Kyi.

  • The military junta of Myanmar are not dog or pig, nor are they hound. They are SATAN. No one is his or her right mind would want to see people suffer while they themselves have it all, in this case way more than they really need. They might escape to another countries but just wait till the judgment day. They would be doomed in hell forever.

  • good on ya, jim

  • 8,000,000.00 here another teaser from HIM.

  • whats with the long hair

  • he's reading from a tv in front of him, even tho I think he means what he says..

  • THESE OLD CRAPS SHOULD GO AND BRING ON YOUNG GENERATION INTO POLITICS! ITS EVEN BETTER IF WOMEN RULES WORLD. Omar al-Bashir, Sudan. Age 62 Kim Jong-il, North Korea. Age 63 Than Shwe, Burma (Myanmar). Age 72 Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe. Age 81; Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan. Age 67 Hu Jintao, China. Age 63 King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia. Age 82 Saparmurat Niyazov, Turkmenistan. Age 65 Seyed Ali Khamane'i, Iran. Age 66 Teodoro Obiang Nguema, Equatorial Guinea. Age 63
  • Money from foreign tourism in Burma helps maintain the brutal, illegal military regime and consequently oppress the Burmese citizens.

Join the uscampaignforburma and help the good-hearted Burmese people win back their freedom..and right to live peacefully in their own country.

  • It always takes one of us Canadians to open our mouths first...Thank-God for us,at least.

    Way to go Jim!

    All of us in Toronto.

  • As long as the China is there in UN, the freedom door will not open. So forget about the UN and ask the help from NATO Or EU to take action on Burma Military gov. You can see how things are badly happening in Myanmar cyclone (Nagis) but the Burma Military gov just ignore them and taking the votes which we can't even have to choose. They just collect the name of the people of Myanmar and they force them to put the votes that (we agree with the Military gov.)Not fair! Pls stand up for Burma!!!!

  • wonderful message n'all...but that hair do should be illegal...

  • save burma

  • Cyclone Nargis has been bittersweet for the people of Burma. Some of my family who live in Insein are still missing and we can't contact them to know if they are okay.

But at the same time, Cyclone Nargis has been a blessing because now the world is starting to notice what has been going on for decades in Burma. Now everyone knows how horrible the Military regime is over there! I hope more and more people support this cause and help the people of Burma and it's true leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.

  • See, why doesn't youtube feature something like this. No one cares about guys jumping off buildings or some asian guy playing a song no one knows on a vegetable. these are the things that matter. feature this.

  • UN wont sort out Burma evertime they vote on action Russia , China, France vito it.

  • just say it like "Ahn Sahn Suu Chii"

  • Beyond all your good value like love and freedom, there's a contradictive one, which is, for everything you give, you want repay, interest&profit. You are too logically following the rule of nature. However, In Chinese old wisdom, it teaches sometimes we need to give without expecting return, even to the enemies. Because we know nature will eventually bring things around, and that's the way to win understanding and respect from your enemy! I've never been so proud of my country!

  • If you really care about the people, just help them, without any conditions, without trading your help for your country's interest, without forcing them to accept your values at their weakest time! Because that's not love, which you always promote in your own value. I'm a girl who grew up by watch American films and very impressed by your value of freedom. However, now Real American government disappointed me. I can't believe they can even trade help when human lives are losing!

  • I'm a Chinese girl. By chance I came here and I feel amazing for some people who always have the ability to connect things to politics. First Olympics, then Burma disaster. I don't want to argue about politics, because we all have our own values for life, and our own dignity to stand up to our values, Not being imposed by anyone who don't understand us! I just want to ask, do you really care about these people? these suffering people?

  • Remember Ju Hinto was PRC Governor of Tibit 1988-1989 when there was Extreme crackdown on Tibetan, Nuns, Monks, people, The Highest ranking Religious leader (Panchem Lama) also mysteriously died!! to be replaced by Chinese appointed Lama realtedto Gov't official. Ju Hinto returned to China and was Promoted!! now President. DO NOT BUY CHINESE PRODUCTS. EXECISE YOUR VOTE, POWER TO THE PEOPLE

  • Simple Protest, DO NOT BUY CHINESE PRODUCTS! Burmese (Mynamar) Military Junta only ally is China.. How Odd the genocide committed (Ref to Ju Hinto) is same as in Tibet. But for Tibet this has gone on for 50yrs, now Tibetan culture is nearly destroyed. Buy Taiwanese, your own country products, Not Chinese. This is what the PRC fear the most, You have the Power to Make a difference!! Any negative comments to this are from the PRC Nationalist usually allowed to surf as YouTube is banned in China :)

  • free Burma

  • I believe that an interesting topic for conversation would be How did they get into power? Thanks everyone for having Empathy.

  • Thank you Jim Carrey. I really appreciate you doing this for Burmese people. I hope Democracy is near.

  • NEWS: Foreign medical supplies and aid to the 1000s of Burmese cyclone survivors have been blocked by the military regime. (Despite that Burma has the worst medical system in the world.)

No one touches Burma because their illegal military dictatorship is fully backed by China's CCP.

One effective way to help Burma = Boycott Chinese goods.

Let's all send a message to Beijing and Rangoon by NOT purchasing Chinese products - inasmuch as we can.

May freedom come to the Burmese soon!

  • Good way of remembering Aung San's name!

  • Fighting For Freedom - Original Song

  • This really just shows there are many decent people in first world countries, we have the power to stop a lot of problems like this if a lot of us decent people come together and act, that's really all we ever needed to do, come together.

  • Well done jim. Youre a sung hero. Shame I cant look at your face without grinning...

  • this goes to show that Jim Carrey perhaps can be serious lol

  • Yeah he was probably a bad choice, it's hard to take him seriously, his type cast as a comic

  • it's great to see that there are indeed celebrities who are unselfish and truly care about a cause as significant as the freedom of Burma. Spread the message:

    FREE AUNG SAN SUU KYI!

    FREE BURMA!

    FREE YOUR MIND!

  • great job jim as jim said 1.5 millions people got force out of their home. Now where are they gonna go? Thailand ofcourse the only nieghbor country to run to in that region. What are they going to do in the future? Hopefully the situation in burma stabalize but that might be a while in the mean time many woman and young boy will prostitute them self in thailand for money and that make thailand the biggest sex capital of the world.Just like the vietnam era after the communist took over the region

  • Dear Hú Jǐntāo, the Court of History will judge your crimes. You was the man that in 1988, as secretary of the Chinese Communist Party for Tibet, ordered harsh repression and firing against demonstrators. Guilty, guilty, guilty. Remember, your crime will not remain unpinished

  • Look at the world, every nation has lost it's morale chain, sacraficing human blood for profit. Malaysia, India imports rice from burma, while citizens in burma starve (RECENT NEWS). China sells guns to Burma. Thai decimate the forest without planting it back. Gas, Gem, Rice, Labor, everything on the blood of these peaceful people.

  • If people TRULY have anti-china olympic attitudes and human right morals, they would not buy their crap which is made by cheep labor to support corp and stockholder's pocketbooks!!

  • leave Iraq to the U.N and sort a real troubled country out for gods sake

boycott the Olympics anyway you can

  • If powerful Governments and organisations such as NATO, can't stop human rights abuse and injustice, who can?

Many people make a choice to support campaigns against brutality and injustice. If only more people were eager to join them.

It doesn't take much effort to support others. I'm always happy to see a celebrity speak out. Their opinion has more weight than the average person on the street.

  • who is rambo? and i think burma is going to have freedom

  • there are so many reasons why we need to boycott these olympics, wether it be Darfur, Zimbabwe or Tibet, but Burma for me has to be at the top of the list. We cannot let this governement get away with the way they are treating those around them, they must be stopped before they get too powerful. The Olympics are the RIGHT way to make our point made, for the love of a better world, please Boycott the olympics!

  • thank you Jim Carrey. I held my own avaaz protest for burma in St. john's NL and It makes me so happy that you made this.

  • i'm so used to see this man smiling and laughing, that even in this video it looks like he isnt being serious...he would have been a bad politician, but as an actor he's a god! :) greetings from Norway far up north in Europe

  • We are Students at Riverview High School, after seeing Rambo we chose Burma as our subject for an AP Lang project. Our group believed it would be a rather boring subject but after much research we grew attached to the country. Even after completion we continued to research the subject. It was shocking to find how many Americans have no idea about Burma and we are honored to inform more people.Videos like this help. We are working hard to make sure USA is no longer in the dark with this country.

  • Graceful woman man, aung san suu kyi,i love you babe, what a woman, what a dame.Yo Jimbo the gal is mine.Khmer men love Aung Aan Suu Kyi,long live democracy baby,it's a beautiful thing, and so is the princess of democracy Aung San Suu Kyi.

  • it would be kinda cool if evry king and presidet would wear a red robe in the olympics like the munks in burma. that would show them

  • Ultimatum for the demons of the chines governement. We monks will wait for your surrender until Monday evening. You have to abandon the beijng olympic games. Espired this term you will not have paece any more, and you will be crushed like the snakes you are.

Boycott the nazy-comunist olympic games, now

  • Oh, please mind your spelling and write like an intelligent person. Perhaps people will respect and listen to you.

  • If there is a problem in Burma, why does Nato not take action to stop the dilemma and genocide ?

  • I think you mean the U.N.

  • It's really hard to explain so I will simplify it:

    China

  • "If there is a problem in Burma, why does Nato not take action to stop the dilemma and genocide ?"

    No oil fields in Burma.

  • Because I think its a similar reason why the UN is useless for stopping genocide...the problem of State Sovereignty and a stagnant & selfish Security Council that has no conscience other than what it's county's interest can gain...REFORM! REFORM! REFORM!

  • thats a great point, and unfortunately, there are a dozen more organizations that also should have stepped in by now, most prominently the UN. it's the same reason nobody did anything for Darfur...which is still happening fyi...and why nobody is doing anything for Kenya.

  • Because NATO is a figure head for the US military backed by its allies. NATO will never engage in a conflict unless there is somthing to gain from it(ie.oil). If it was the case that NATO did act in accordance to its mandate, it would be in places such as Darfur or Sri Lankia. crosboid got it spot on11

  • Hopefully people will start paying attention more now. Mark Thomas has been campaigning about the atrocities of the Burma Dictatorship since 2000, but its taken til the recent demonstration for some proper coverage to be given. I remain cynical of the governments' words condemning their actions. There simply isn't the interest in the land Burma holds at the moment, unlike there was with kosovo and afghanistan, for NATO to go blazing in there in the name of "humanitarian intervention".

  • Very caring I love that we can see Jim for who he is thank you for sharing

  • everyone wants things to change, what they don't realize is that they have to be the change they want to see.

  • Gandhi, eh? Very appropriate.

  • nice ghandi reference =)

  • Thank god for Rambo

  • Just like in Afghanistan after Rambo III, the character has become an underground symbol of defiance after the movie was released and immediately banned in Burma and anyone that was part of it would be arrested if they ever set foot in Burma. The movie is widely pirated in Burma, but owning a copy of the DVD

carries a 10 year jail term and selling the DVDs is Death. As silly as it might seem, Rambo is one of the few symbols of hope these people have as a way to defy their rulers.

  • SEND RAMBO!

  • i agree

  • I am sorry for laughing at this, it really is sad and neccessary. But perhaps jim carey was a bad choice? Whenever he talks, no matter what he says i find hilarious.

  • niki sixual.. go and travel to burma and stay with these lovely people and see what they go through.. that would take the smile of your face..and jim is not acting here , ican assure you

  • Sounds like you are unable to take things in context then.

  • I love you but pleaseeeeeeeeee cut that hair!!!

  • I love you but pleaseeee cut that hair!!

    May God Bless You

  • I love this guy. He is my hero.

I totally support this. I talked about it to some teachers and they are going to see if they can show it and get some support during our yearly PANAMUN conference, it's a Model United Nation, pretty known. Last year, we had a guy from Invisible Children that came, and this year, I'll try to get someone for this.

  • Jim Carry, You are ROck!!! Way to go! May God Bless YOU!

  • thanks

  • A very noble speech by Jim Carrey, but to tell the truth I didn't know if he was being serious at first.

  • Thanks alot Jim.. burmese people really need these kinds of support.. I m proud of u..

  • Aung San Suu Kyi and her people's freedom is partly depending upon China's policy towards Myanmar/Burma.

Persuade China through the Olympic games of 2008 there, to STOP supporting murderous regime of Myanmar.

  • WAY TO GO ACE VENTURA

  • GOO!! jim!!! ur the best!!

  • Finally, someone in the US with a bit of weight behind them speaking up for Aung San Suu Kyi. I always fall into tears when I think about what she has had to go through for her country. Please America, do something for her, like Jim said, she is a true unsung hero.

It is very necessary to do so...Burma (Myanmar) has been in a mess for more than two decades. There needs to be changed__educationally, philosophically, and econimically changes in Myanmar.

  • hehe sick saw this on tv so I checked it out pretty cool

  • Thank you.

  • Please spread this message, the support of International Community is very important, esp in the times like this. Right now Protests(from the citizens) and Cracking down of these peaceful demostrations(from the military regime) have been happening almost everyday in past days. It is important that the UN Security Council will handle this issue, even though China doesn't want Burma to obtain democracy.

  • Daw Aung San Su Kyi, A true Hero. Thank you Jim.

  • well done i supoort

  • I love This man :)

  • thanks for informing us Mr. Carrey and also to the uscampaignforburma. i've always looked up to jim carrey for his comedic gift but now i see him as a person who's about doing good also. thanks again.

    from dejuanp

  • aaaaall righty then!

  • Go Jim!

  • Jim. You are the hero of women's freedom. Even Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton can't do for her women's freedom. If she wants to be a women president, she has to concern more about the women in the whole world. The first lady - Laura Bush concerns about Aung San Su Kyi and wrote the letter to Burmese Military to free her from house arrest. But how about Hillary Clinton? What is going on? Are you sure she is running for the U.S President. She needs to focus more about on today women society.

  • Thank you Jim. This one and a half minute video reminds me of your speech in "The Majestic", as Peter Appleton or Luke. Aung San Suu Kyi is truly an unsung hero. Cheers!

  • Wow, I didn't know Jim Carrey had a serious side.

So what's with the hair, is he doing a remake of "Jesus Christ Superstar"?

  • Please see member Chomskyno1's videos for more info on the oppession in Burma,

    also,

    MA THIDA

    BURMA

She was held in solitary confinement, in a cramped prison cell with little light. She was not allowed reading or writing materials. She suffered from tuberculosis, and for three years was denied the surgery she desperately needed for a painful medical condition. Her sentence: twenty years. Her crime: distributing pro-democracy leaflets."

  • WELL LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING!

  • Jim thank you very much!!! I hope your speech will make a lot of supporters.

  • wtf is up with his hair.

    i love him anyway, aah.

  • Read FINDING GEORGE ORWELL IN BURMA if you really want to know what Burma's like! Did you know they changed their name to MYANMAR? I think it's so when you hear the new name you won't recall any of their horrid history.

  • Just ASSK thats how I do it and I am in love with that woman...
