yea this is nothing like the actual song Vesuvius. The battery parts not only don't fit the music, but is simple and dirty. the main motif of the song is ruined by the wierd modulation you put on it. Also, for drill that is as easy as that, you played this wayyyyy too slow.
this feels kind of dead to me... the percussion does not go with the "mood" of what this song is supposed to sound like.. and your drill is very simple.. too simple..
Yuck... I thought it was Jaws at first. You're playin' beat 2 as a tripulet not as three eighth notes. That why's the rhythm feels stiff and robotic. I wish you also would've had all the drum line on the front ensemvle for this piece too the marching style of perc. isn't going to fit no matter how good the arranger is.
i love the song, but i dont think it was meant to be done as a field show, lol, its more of a concert type song that a marching song. still a great song though.
I kind of feel like the driving percussion in the background kind of defeats the purpose of the original tone poem, which is supposed to be unpredictable and able to go from metronomic to very smooth in a split second. Also, the fact that you really can never hear the woodwinds well (when they're pivotal to the piece was a turn off for me) Not saying it wasn't a good arrangement, or a good show, just that it has an extremely different effect on me personally than the concert version does.
I assume this is is a different version of the concert "veusvius" cause that's like 3 pages long (I can't imagine memorizing that, on top of that it's difficult music)
4 for Trombone 1 as well. We couldn't get the rights to it, or we would be using this for our 2009 field show. Instead we have Ritual Fire Dance, Flame of Eternal Glory, and Firebird.
On the subject of memorizing that, a band could do it. I watched a group learn 131 pages of drill for 5 pages of music. That was the director's "rookie" year too. It would be interesting, and definitely possible for a DCI band to play the concert version.
If you want to see a good version of a Vesuvius field show, look up Berne Union high school.

4 pages long for the French Horn. ^.=.^ Anyway, this is actually pretty cool, I never would've expected a Marching version of Vesuvius. Nice job.
