This wasn't a cover of Led Zeppelin's cover, it was an imitation of APC's cover. To complain about APC's version of Memphis Minnie's original as compared to Zeppelin's is like saying my stunned silence at my brother's death was wrong when compared to my mother's anguished wails or my father's angry raging.

A cover is an individual interpretation. APC's Levee is equivalent to hopeless resignation. Zeppelin's is like the massive inevitability of the storm and racism in the southern US.

The song, as the lyrics state, is about the destruction caused by a massive storm in 1920s southern USA and the resulting forced labor of blacks by whites to repair the levees. As a result, many of the blacks' homes were destroyed but whites' were saved. It was not about the crashing drumbeat.

If you, like me, love the Zep version, fine. But don't act like Zep wrote the song or the lyrics. They did a cover. APC didn't remake Zep, they focused on the meaning in the lyrics.

Well it wasn't Zep's song to begin with, it was composed by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie back in 1929.

At least give APC some credit that they took the song and made it totally different from both previous incarnations.

APC made it unique and gave it tons of groove and feel. I love it. It's one of my favorite covers ever. also these kids did a really good job with it

This is clearly shot on a normal camcorder with a single directional mic. They sound amazing on video, converted, and uploaded to youtube, I imagine they sounded pristine or close to in person. Guitar is way too loud, thats it. You can't criticize the vocals without being there.

This is a student production by student performers, they nailed it in my opinion.

And no dancing, thats a ridiculous suggestion. This song should NOT be danced to. Ever. It would be insulting to the music.

Actually not bad.The arrangement is clear and uncluttered.One of the girls keeps bending her notes up (annoying novice sounding).The other two hit the notes better.
