Seems like almost every song I favoured since I fell in love with this beautiful girl, has a reference to her. As this song goes - my best moments with her by far were talking over cigarettes and coffee. Two days ago, I was drinking a cup of coffee on the sunny shore of our river and came from a terrible position, where I couldn't talk, uncomfortably numb, to a great conclusion with an honest talk and a night-ending kiss. Otis, thank you for making this song.and giving me hope for the future.
My parents used to love Otis. He was one of a kind. It is hard to believe that he had done so many songs in such a short time. He was amazing!!! His family keeps his memory alive.
I was 14 years old when the Great Big O passed from this life. He is one of the greatest soul man that ever walked this earth. Although he was only 26 years old when that tragic plane crash took his life and his band, I know his dear wife Zelma must have been heart broken, but he is among the band of angels now singing "I've been loving you too long to stop now". Big O, we miss you and I hope these young musicians can pattern their lives from your wonderful book. You're the best after 44 years.
@MrSexysoul1 We have been the same age when we discovered Soul and Otis. I need to add Aretha and Percy. After 44 years I still love them and they are in the bottom of my soul. Actually they are part of my soul, that's it and I don't think I will change till I will meet Otis in the sky.
@MrSexysoul1 same here, 14 at the time, came from school..there it was on the radio....never stopped mourning. I haven't been able to listen to his songs for decades. This still tears me up, and hey lets not forget his band and my man Steve Cropper on guitar....aah well what can I say...still hurts
This was the first song that came on my mp3 player today. And I'd never heard it before. And I was only half listening. But still it struck a cord in me. So I started the song over, and read the lyrics while it was playing, and just started crying. Because it just reminds me so much of how my fiance and I are when we're together. I would love to dance to this at our wedding.
The reason music is so terrible these days, in my mind, is everythings gone so complicated. Back then it was a simpler time, love, money, food, these were things we could be grateful for, and we could sing about the things that we were discovering within ourselves. The music we hear today is either relevant to this type of person or that group of people, rarely do we hear anything that unites us with the same feeling as this.
@TheSnowyDrake life was not simple for otis. he was a roofer and worked his ass off to get his timing down.. he was in shootouts and shit its in his biography oh plus blacks had seperate eating and sleeping quarters and water fountains back then when old folk refer to the "good ol days" its because they are senile
music that unites isnt on the radio bob marley never had his music played in his country during his lifetime if he did it was because he hired thugs to get his stuf playd
oh wow.this song is amazing.reminds me of my first true love (it never goes away).oh the nights we stayed up way toooooo late smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee.such is life.
then i met my second and last true love my husband mike.love you always babe and can always think of better things than ciggies and coffee, lol.

@PRINCESSJKFOX IN ORDER 2 VIEW THIS SONG YOU HAVE TO TYPE IT IN. MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF THIS SONG. THAT'S WHY ITS ONLY GETTING FEW VIEWS. I LOVE IT SO I WATCH IT EVERYDAY.
In this days we're living, lyrics don't say shit...it's just words that come out of our mouths and fall at our feet and die. We really need to go back to this music
Music by otis redding, ray charles, aretha franklin (and 100s more) made music that fed the soul. Modern day music crumbles to dust when compared to REAL music like this.
@PrincessJKFox it's really sad, because music is an essence of life. If you got kids listening to stupid shit, your basically raising them up that way.
This is just beautiful... now days there's a lot of garbage music... we need to go back to basics... put some feelings on lyrics... just like this... just like Otis...
@20Madskillz all this electronic shit that we've got nowadays. we've taken the humanity out of music. Music doesn't sound like a human pouring out his soul anymore...it just sounds so fake.
