i saw them in church this morning & they not only are extremely talented but this song is ideal for the message that needs to be sent to the younger generation!!!!!!!!!!!1
Im quite dissappointed in our fellow man! Im pretty sure God is the only one who can judge and it is not up to you to do so! God loves us all no matter what and as should we! I think God would be dissappointed in you all for being hateful. We should spend time worrying about how WE are living our lives in God's eyes and quit worrying about everyone else!! This world needs more love and understanding and not so many judgmental finger pointers!!
@tiffmad21 Would you be so kind as to elaborate on where someone judged here? Or where there is hate exhibited? Quite the opposite, YOU are the one being judgmental The Mystery Men simply speak the truth, YOU judge that position to be one of hatred. The Mystery Men take the Biblically Correct position that homosexuality is a sinful state of being. What sort of love would it be if we allowed our fellow man to be condemned to hell without saying a word?
@James0829 Hell is a pagan myth that was adopted by Christianity, much like the idea of Jesus being born on December 25th and other beliefs.
The Jews, "God's chosen people," don't believe in eternal damnation because their scriptures contain no such concept. It wasn't until the Catholic Church came along with their new & improved "New Testament" that this silly idea of a god who loves you more than anything (but will torture you forever if you don't follow the right religion) came into play.
@James0829 That's right, James. Don't even bother researching it for yourself. Just call it a lie and rest easy in your ignorance of your own religion's history.
@James0829 My comments demonstrate no more "silliness" or "ignorance" than yours or that of this band. You both cite nature to oppose gay marriage, yet ignore the lack of marriage in nature. You cite the Bible, yet ignore the polygamy within it. You cite procreation, yet don't oppose marriage for people who cannot, or don't want to, procreate.
In short, what we're seeing here are the usual hopelessly flawed arguments against gay marriage in a more entertaining form.
@smorbidity Again you assume that I think that homosexuality is something other than a choice. Homosexuality is the issue here not polygamy, or infertility, or reproductive responsibility. The hopelessly flawed arguments are those in favor of homosexuality.
I wish there were no social pressure at all, but if I have to choose, I prefer to put it against homophoby, in order to defend freedom of behaviour. No hatred, though.
I was born in a Christian society, read the New Testament, and agree with many Christian values. But sincerely, I don't think God spoke out within every single of the Bible's lines, and I don't think He / She is against homosexuality.
Sex has not only reproductive goals, is funny too. Is that bad? I don't think so
@Maqa1980 I guess that you and I must worship very different "gods". The Lord has spoken very clearly what He expect of us when He created us. He meant for male and female to dwell together in harmony for a lifetime. It's called marriage. And the writing in both Old and New Testaments is loud and clear on this subject.
Years ago many would have ignorantly clapped to a song about woman having no rights, encouraging slavery, or better yet how about a song that talks about beating your disrespectful child to death or rightfully beating your wife on your wedding night if she's not a virgin. How about writing and performing a song about eating shrimp, an abomination and also in the Bible. As I stated in my previous text, it would be nice if this song were about bringing Gods children together, not dividing them.
@anjela1981 Since a woman is born a woman and a man is born a man, I agree that they are equal. There were songs written about blacks being kept in slavery, they were born black and therefore should be equal. A disrespectful child is an embarrassment to his parents and deserves punishment, though not beaten to death. Homosexuality is a choice, therefore a sin. They are bringing God's children together to speak out against a sin. Mosaic law was fulfilled by Christ, but the sin remains.
@LevySid May I suggest another song by the same group, "Say A Prayer For Me" and then do so if you really think that the song is wrong. There are many instances in the last few years of blind intolerance and hatred against Christians some that comes from the halls of our own congress in direct opposition to our Constitution. This document says that you and I have the right to disagree on subject.
James, I have no issue with you or the (questionable positive) response to the song. I just wish it were a song that brought ALL Gods children together, opposed to a song being sung to divide them!
@anjela1981 In every instance where the song has been performed, the response has been positive. From pastors and congregation. Everywhere, from the strongly conservative south to the northeast, California and Canada, there has been standing ovation after standing ovation. Those who take issue with the song are primarily those who are supportive of the lifestyle or openly engaged in it. In direct contradiction with scripture.
@LevySid I approved this message as a shining example of the bigotry and hatred that I see at every turn. Contrary to your eloquent assertion that I have done no research, I have. I find that there are certain species that given a certain set of circumstances will engage in homosexual behavior. Absolutely none reproduce that way. There is nothing factually or Biblically wrong with the song, it has no hatred, just the truth.
Perhaps it would prove more beneficial to write/sing, "Come on in to the University and get an education" as sadly, God would never clap along with such a disgusting and perverted attempt to twist the gospel. I am not going to get into Biblical debates but a literalistic point of view is a narrow point of view. Why not sing about how you beat and killed your wife on your wedding night because she wasn't a virgin - Biblically encouraged. I love God and ALL his children. Please pray. God bless
@anjela1981 You have a direct line to God? As I do not, I am not aware of any attempt to twist or pervert the Gospel. I can only say that EVERY time this song is sung in any setting whether a church or a secular setting the result is overwhelmingly positive and the blessings and encouragement are tremendous.
Interesting that you make such a big deal about how brave it is to perform this piece of work, and yet you are stifling reactions by filtering the comments.
@daniellezm the only comments I disapprove are those containing vulgarity. otherwise I let them through as examples of the hatred and intolerance that Christians face.
Hardly courageous, and not even close to being "controversial", but plenty of bigotry and some seriously flawed logic. Perfectly decent harmonizing though, but certainly not enough to redeem an awful song and message.
@RoyalChant bigotry by definition stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own. Takes one to know one. The logic is perfectly sound though.
If we can’t be homosexual because chickens aren’t, then we can’t be monogamous, much less get married, because chickens don’t do that either. (Roosters mate with as many as 20 hens at once.) Much less do they wear clothes, build hospitals, or sing gospel music.
What does impersonating animals have to do with ethical behavior? Who came up with this? Humans are every bit as “natural” as animals. (What else could we be—supernatural?) Homosexuality could be dead wrong, but it would still be as “natural” as any other sex. Indeed, there is no conceivable human behavior which wouldn’t be “natural.” It makes as much sense to judge animal behavior by our own as the reverse.
The song gets the data wrong; the same spectrum of sexuality—going from strict heterosexuality to all permutations of bisexuality, to strict homosexuality—is found in the animal and human kingdoms alike. Using “nature” as our standard, then, does not tell us which segment of it to mimic—“the farm,” as the song says, or the Congolese forests where the pan-sexual bonobo ape dwells. “Nature” gives no unambiguous prescription for human behavior.
When God said love your brother I don't think that includes making fun of your brother or judging them. If you read the bible and what it says about love you would not find anything that would support singing a song like this.
I understand the Biblical side of this, but I also believe that people are made the way they are, and all the propoganda in the world isn't going to change things.
@trappermark Displaying homosexual behavior and being homosexual are two different things. A person may exhibit stereotypical homosexual traits and be totally heterosexual. That is why I have always contended that homosexuality is a choice. There is nothing to dissuade from that conclusion.
@James0829: How old were you when you "chose" to be attracted to women? I ask because your attraction to women obviously wasn't natural if you had to make a conscious "choice" to like them.
Come on down to the farm and you'll see no two roosters walking arm in arm... What about all the other animals in the world that have homosexual tendencies like the dolphin eh? Not everything is about reproduction what ever happened to love?? Don't like gay marriage? Don't get one
Thank You for speaking God's Word!!!!!! Dont Worry about the nasty comments!!!!!! This song is awesome!!!!!!
