Ya the main reason he blew out his voice in mid '08 was because the way he sings is so hard on his vocal cords. He sings so raspy that his throat just couldnt take it anymore. Same reason why Brian Johnson (AC/DC) doesnt sound the same anymore either, same with Axl Rose (GNR). The raspy voice that they all sing in, just tears up their cords. I do hope he recovers though, Tom.....best wishes man

actually the rasp isn't done with the vocal cords - so that's not the reason.
but it sure has to do with an "unhealthy" vocal technique and doing it too often / for too long.

Yes. Rasp is unhealthy vocal technique. He had vocal nodules all over his vocal chords, along with his left one being paralyzed, and now hemorrhaged.

He blew his voice out in like 94, completely paralyzed his left vocal cord. He had to learn to sing all over again. Recently his left vocal cord hemorrhaged again, not sure how he is holding up.

for this show, i was about midway back... but there's really not a bad seat in the house... and during one of the earlier sets, jeff labar was literally a few feet away from me as he took in a song or two... i believe slaughter was on this bill, too, and two of them were sitting in the back row to one of the sets for a while...

didn't Tom blow his voice completely out now. I thought that I heard that they can't tour anymore cause his voice is now permanently messed up. If it is, that sucks cause Tom's a great guy and a hell of a rock star

i believe they had to pull out of a tour a year or two ago before it even kicked off... i forget what other bands were going to be involved, but cinderella were going to be the headliners... they have never disappointed live when i've seen them...
