  • Same thing happened in Latvia, but with larger numbers. They dug a ditch the length of a train, had the train stop in line with the ditch, walked the jews over, and machine gunned them dead into the ditch. Then the train left to fetch more victims. The jews were killed and just left, bodies on top of bodies. The memorial is just outside of Riga Latvia,

  • What a shame that the Lithuania's police is not capable to investgate this case! Poor system on Lithuania authority?

  • Thank you for such a wonderful film. My wife's family comes from Zosley and they were taken on a wonderful trip by Yulik. I have sent this link to all the family. Never forget.

  • I think it was brilliant and should be circulated as information that the disease of anti semitism is still alive and shockingly allowed to flourish. the undiscovered vandals deserve the fate that those poor innocent Jews suffered.

  • What was done with the burnt statues? If they still exist, I would be interested in placing them in the Vilnius Jewish Library here in Lithuania. They would become a memorial and a reminder that intolerance still exists.

  • @JewishLibrary

Hi, you should get the info from Yulik Gurevitch in Vilnius. He is well known in the Jewish Community.

    Best, good luck,

    Dov Shinar

  • The figures should be built again by the artist. The enemies shouldn't win.

  • So depressing, left me with a sick feeling of despair. I wish I could believe the burning was teenage stupidity, but given the history that is naive of me.

  • This brought back some incredible memories of our trip in 2008. Interestingly enough, Yulik's son, Daniel, was our tour guide and he took us to Plumge where my husbands mother came from. There too, was a forest with the most amazing wood carvings. It was an extremely moving experience and I think that the young generation today should make a trip like this to see their past and to know who they are. Thank you and may we never forget where we came from and who we are.

  • What an extrodianry video - thank you for making it - Its hard to believe there are still people in this world who would desecrate a site like this - I hope they find the culprets. MAy we never forget !!!!

  • Thank you for making this video. For people not familiar with the extent of the atrocities in Lithuania, it might be educational to include something about their scope (95% of Lithuanian Jewry was murdered--not all by the nazis). Also, some Lithuanians committed many atrocities before the nazis even entered Lithuania. A bit more historical context may be useful for people.

Would be fascinating to hear more from the good Lithuanian mayor and sculptor, too, about what moved them. Thank you.

  • another heartbreak

  • How powerful!
