I'm sorry, but it is one of the biggest mistake a guitarist could make early on.

Now I'm no Yngwie Malmsteen or anything, but I find my pinky is really beneficial to my playing.

Oh, and i'm not trying to be some condescending prick either, do what you want, that was just my little rant.

@Zeraninator never ever said it was the right thing to do, im self taught and honestly been trying to get more into using my pinky, i oddly use my pinky for powerchords but avoid it like hell when soloing and doing scales, its wrong but yea i get ya

Some good exercises are practicing simple note-oriented songs using just your middle, ring, and pinky fingers. Something like the Super Mario Bros theme, or Yankee Doodle, stuff like that. I did that a while, and my pinky is one of my strongest fingers. Believe me, it's definitely worth it.

@Zeraninator i wouldn't say its the weakest, just cause of my tendency to use it rather than my ring finger in powerchords its quite strong, just need to learn to hold my hand more parralell to the fingerboard rather than at an angle and incorporate the pinky more
