I like most of it but disagree with government not getting involved in creating smoke free environments at work, warning lables, limited or no Tobacco advertising etc as the smoking rate has decreased allot since this was introduced ( he said government shouldn't protect people from puting things in their lungs as if they have no sense to protect themselves) lets face it most people don't have the sense unless at least educated with facts rather than propaganda from Tobacco companies.

I like Ron Paul and agree with a lot of his more libertarian views but his belief in the righteousness of the "founders" and their ideas on individual liberty is odd considering the founders included slave owners and men willing to allow slave owning. I am not sure where you are getting you information from but you may want to go to the source and start studying the Bible if you truly want to learn the Jewish or Christian faith. The argument against the founding fathers that they were all slave owners is a truly ignorant view. The biggest argument in drafting the constitution was what to do about slavery. Most of the founding fathers were against slaver, but slavery was such a deep part of the system, it was difficult to get rid of right off the bat, especially in a brand new nation. So Come on everyone, slavery always was wrong, but to say everyone before 1865 was evil is just stupid.
I not arguing against the founding fathers and a majority may well have been against slavery in 1776. But the founders were willing to compromise on their principles for a greater good. So one could say 'compromise' was the founding principle our nation a build on. Funny. I didn't hear a lot about it at CPAC convention.

I may agree with a lot of what Paul is saying here in terms of the war and government, but the problems seem to stem from not the beliefs, but the men who are in charge of upholding and instituting them. Paul's examples of conservatism are all either at the beginning of the 20th century or from the 50's, where are the men of that calibur and can Paul be cut from that same cloth? I'd like to think so, but he's definitely got an uphill battle within his own party.

I like most of it but disagree with government not getting involved in creating smoke free environments at work, warning lables, limited or no Tobacco advertising etc as the smoking rate has decreased allot since this was introduced ( he said government shouldn't protect people from puting things in their lungs as if they have no sense to protect themselves) lets face it most people don't have the sense unless at least educated with facts rather than propaganda from Tobacco companies.

The argument against the founding fathers that they were all slave owners is a truly ignorant view. The biggest argument in drafting the constitution was what to do about slavery. Most of the founding fathers were against slaver, but slavery was such a deep part of the system, it was difficult to get rid of right off the bat, especially in a brand new nation. So Come on everyone, slavery always was wrong, but to say everyone before 1865 was evil is just stupid.

I not arguing against the founding fathers and a majority may well have been against slavery in 1776. But the founders were willing to compromise on their principles for a greater good. So one could say 'compromise' was the founding principle our nation a build on. Funny. I didn't hear a lot about it at CPAC convention.

I may agree with a lot of what Paul is saying here in terms of the war and government, but the problems seem to stem from not the beliefs, but the men who are in charge of upholding and instituting them. Paul's examples of conservatism are all either at the beginning of the 20th century or from the 50's, where are the men of that calibur and can Paul be cut from that same cloth? I'd like to think so, but he's definitely got an uphill battle within his own party.

Just because the FEDERAL govt. does not make senseless laws prohibiting any drugs...does not mean that the STATES can not prohibit drugs or some drugs. That is what Ron is saying. Leave it up to the FRICKIN states. Our FEDs are ruining our lives

Meth should be legal. Government should only punish actions, not probability. Meth is dangerous, lots of things are dangerous. Accepting the idea that Govt should step into our lives for public health reasons is a slippery slope.
Look at the cost of the war on meth! Now they want ephedrine to be prescription only! We've done nothing more than subsidized Mexican cartels meth business. Millions upon millions spent to legislate personal habits.

They are so worried about us the people and doing drugs, ie. we have to do drug tests just to get a job, subject to randoms to just keep the job while our elected officials never have to prove their "innocense" like us mere tax paying mortals.

My thoughts are you leagalize it and take a fraction of the budget for law enforcement of illegal drug use and use it for drug rehab... The humanitarian way to do it. People, the pusuit of Happiness is gauranteed to us, not the takeover of our basic rights!

I've met a meth addict before and it was really fucking scary. But if meth were legalized it could be regulated by the government so children can't get their hands on it. Money saved from ending the War on Drugs can go towards drug education to keep kids away from drugs. Switzerland legalized heroin not too long ago and they have seen a sharp decrease in heroin usage and crimes committed by heroin addicts. Your argument is a joke.

Leave it up to the states. What has the CIA done for us lately? Just look as what they have not done. They still get paid when terrorists plow planes into the Twin Towers. They still get paid when a Christmas bomber boards a plane in order to blow up innocent people. The bombing of the COLE, the Oklahoma bombing, Ft. Hood. Yes, we are still paying these people, how stupid are we?

I highly doubt he would. Paul didn't garner enough votes amongst the GOP debates in early 2008. If Paul was the leader of this so called Revolution, he would have been the one in the White House right now and not Obama.
