On the contrary to what you commented here, I am trying my best to remind Mr. Siew that at the time when he served as the chief of the Executive Yuan of ROC Regime (from 1998 to 2000), many bank/business scandals or failures occurred and to date the victims are still not compensated. And the criminals are still at large! In my view, Mr. Siew did not do anything at that time to suppress the surging criminal waves and that caused people to vote for DPP Party for a change.

The main reasons that the democratization seems slow or difficult in some Asian countries (like China) are because the media therein are very much manipulated and the people are brainwashed to believe they are inferior to their dictators or whoever dominate their states!
