i guarantee u the karate guy has some type of bjj training. the bjj guy is very sloppy and couldve finished it once he had his hooks in from the back, but he looks like a scrub.
oh god. you jiu jitsu people r like the gung fu guys . "IF i a real jiu jitsu fighter fights, then it could have been over. that's not REAL jiu jitsu." lol comon.
@Ezekiel222 its not that so much.. its just that this guy obviously didnt kno a thing about jiu jitsu.. and had no business fighting.. he is like less than a white belt.. So no that is not real Jiu Jitsu, and this video is titled Karate vs. Jiu Jitsu..1) that was more toward kickboxing 2) The Jiu Jitsu guy looks like a guy that watched too much UFC 3) u were right about 1 thing.. If a real jiu jitsu fighter was fighting.. it wouldve been over when he got his back.. continued in my next message
@Ezekiel222 a real jiu jitsu guy once he got him to the floor he would be able to CONTROL him and then try to work a submission.. which this guy couldnt do so no thats not real jiu jitsu.. if u want a real Karate vs. Jiu Jitsu match.. Look up Gerard Gordeau vs. Royce Gracie.. Both guys were champs.. not one guy high level vs a guy that knows nothing.. in that case of course the guy who knows what hes doing is going to win.. this being title Jiu jitsu vs. Karate is a disgrace to both disciplines
sorry but bjj guys isnt so great..he doesn't even know "what to do" when he gets the back mounts:/ 1:19 the biggest mistake! 2:20 why is holding the hands and not the elbow?:| maybe is the adrenaline...anyway wilson is nice striker and knows wrestling basic so result is easy to expected..
@ngtobzzz When he first tried to choke, Wilson stopped him from joining his left hand with his other arm to complete the technique.
Then when he tried the second time, and managed to join arms, he didn't get the throat, but the jaw instead. This can be useful because a strong compression of the jaw can be hurtful and scary. But I think that with the adrenaline of a cage fight, and a well trained opponent, it's useless, and dangerous when your position is not well assured (like here).
@ngtobzzz ok pussy, I will better explain it for you. did you see the guy choke him out? no? well than, if you didnt see it, it DID NOT HAPPEN. hope you learned alot here today bitch. anymore annoying questions your fat little ass wants to ask feel free to shoot me an email bitch

Continued (5) - Committing to the knee lets Wilson turn Regan into a human pretzel at 2:30, which would not be what you'd expect given their respective claimed martial arts. Regan keeps loving on that knee, while losing position more and more and getting HIS posture broken down instead of vice versa. Lotsa smashes to the face are his reward for giving up a great (and potentially winning) back position due to not accomplishing basic control inherent in the move. Very very strange decisions.
Continued (4) - As he gets rolled, Regan has a great opportunity at 2:22 to bring Wilson into his closed guard, but instead keeps his legs up and doesn't pull Wilson in, resulting in his legs getting all twisted. Then at 2:26 he commits to Wilson's knee, but to little effect. He should be bringing his feet up to Wilson's hips and either controlling him back into closed guard or doing a Hook Sweep from the guard, or just getting his legs up and kicking at Wilson's knees.
Regan is waaaaaaay too high on Wilson's back, and seems committed to landing ineffectual punches from that position, which is very hard to hold on to the way he is doing it. He should drop down, with deep hooks, and over-under Wilson, force a roll to the side, and work the rear naked choke. Very odd. At 2:20 Wilson finally moves a little, only to find how easy it was to knock Regan off his back in that goofy 1/4 assed take the back position.
Continued (2) - Regan, should have kept wailing on Wilson to get his arm back, but another half-hearted punch at 1:34 amazingly gets him free. At this point instead of Taking the Back properly, Regan keeps his hooks in and does kind of a bizarre reverse Guillotine, with the wrong hand grasping the wrong wrist. That obviously wasn't going to do much, and he gives it up at 1:45, just kind of precariously perched on Wilson's back. Some sissy punches at 1:51, followed by more of guillotine.
Continued (1) - This would have let Wilson smash Regan's face and would have prevented the slam that came at 1:07. Wilson wisely controls Regan's hand, preventing the over-under lockup while taking the back. Regan probably should have switched to a body triangle at about 1:20, which would have given him far greater control over Wilson's body, even without the over-under with his arms. Regan tries a punch at 1:26 but his arm is still under control by Wilson, preventing the lockup.
Ok, here's my attempt at a breakdown. At :50 Regan attempts a clinch but doesn't get a full wrap around the back or hip control. At this point I'd be thinking pulling guard from the clinch, but he also gets several opportunities to do a leg hook takedown, which he doesn't take. Instead he just kind of bends around with Wilson. At 1:03 a rear takedown would have been a good choice. Wilson misses an opportunity to put a headlock on Regan, just before he gets slammed to the ground at 1:07.
@13Metal13Head13 its near unbeatable against an untrained fighter, thats what it was designed for, self defense against a single attacker(dangerous thing where more than 1 person ).Its weaknesses are only exposed in sport matches against guys with good wrestling.BJJ done for fighting is extremely effective but not in mma anymore.
this video and really bad taste in addition to being described in a completely inappropriate, I only see a professional boxer against a wrestler suspected improvised and not know what!?
this aint no fucking jiu jitsu .dont disrespect the art like that you low life.this is a mma figth.clearly the guy who got beat up knuw a bit of the art
This is not a bjj vs Karate fight its an MMA fight. Its very apparent that the fighter on the bottom is a skilled mma fighter and well versed in submission defense he is a well seasoned boxer not Karate practitioner. Get your facts together before you post a title like this.
How is this even karate?? Did he even land a kick?? From what I've seen this is boxing against somebody with a pretty poor ground game and zero stand up!!
@adjeadje11111 I'm actually MD state champ. I know what I'm talking about, this guy had no wrestling or striking to set up his bjj. He might be good at bjj but idk. Doesn't matter does it?
fucking BJJ grapplers giving jiujitsu a bad name. jiujitsu is combat. not just hey lets roll and ill try to grave ur wrist..lol. there is more to it. u puch a black belt in tye face and them skills go right out the window. because they practice BJJ. not the real form of JiuJitsu
@tpvalley Thats real JiuJitsu and what u do standing u can do it on the ground but much better with more precision, power, technical, striking and much more. like elbows from guard. but not just slapping them on them. but by nealing them in the eye socket. all that can be done in MMA. but I've heard using ur palms to the ear drums in MMA is illegal. if not i wouldn't do that. i don't want to hurt my opponent. but trying to win hurts people sometimes. winning is everything
for me violence is not a game or a sport, it is to defend myself againt potentially fatal attacks,
if threatened badly enough to fight its life or death, u MUST incapacitate your opponent fully, to do this u need to use minimum effort to cause maximum harm; I love everyone and understand why they are the way they are, but the pain they feel others and they will learn a valuable lesson from, the pain of a beating is severre, luckily Im usually drunk!
@tpvalley thats so true. i got into a fight. and after it was all done with i was feeling horrible. but i started to look at it from that point of view. "he won't ever talk shit to the wrong person" because he learned. so i possibly saved his life. but who knows right. and i love life and people believe it or not. but if a life must be taken in order to save my families, someone else's or mine then it must be taken...
It's sad that these UFC crap is really destroying traditional martial arts. Most of these fights become wrestling matches rather than actual fighting... USUALLY the heaviest man wins, not the best fighter.
Before anyone feels offended, I know and acknowledge that there are great fighters in these matches as well.
@rold820212 - But that's the whole point of mixing martial arts! Put them all together and see how they work against each other. The most complete fighters usually wins, not the haviest (what if the haviest guy is more complete?). You watch Anderson Silva fighting and you'll see he oftenly beats his contestants standing up, not on the ground. I understand ur point, but I don't fully agree with you.
@tiaputadobatiman I believe we're saying the same thing focusing on different parts. I've seen these fights and there are some excelent and complete fighters. My only point is that this fights USUALLY (not always) end up on the ground with the heaviest man on top and that most people get more excited about all the blood and beating than the fight quality itself.
Obviously the black is karate and the white guy is BJJ. The black guy was much more dominant while standing up and fighting so BJJ took him to the ground but took to big riskes and ended up losing.
@jin54363 'jitsu' is a linguistic loan from the japanese word 'jutsu' is valid anyway. From all the words existing in english very little have an anglo-saxon root. That is why languages grow and enrich, is not a bad thing
@momo200090 Umm, yeah, and I took a couple of karate lessons in high school so I guess I'm a karate guy. And I saw some kung fu on tv, so that makes me about as good a kung fu guy as he is a BJJ guy. I teach a class of mostly newbies and guys with 7-8 lessons would do better than this guy.
@bigbabo25 bjj is not the best martial art it has many weaknesses every martial art has his own weaknesses why are you bjj guys making excuses when a bjj clown get fucked.
@scarred10 It reminds me of a drunken evening at a party when a friend and I had a battle royal but both of us were too drunk to remember about half the steps in the moves. It doesn't take too many key details missed and you create openings and opportunities for escape or striking on your opponent's part.
@bigbabo25 I took BJJ for fun. Others used to say that when you hit a black belt BJJ they turn Brown. I laughed and laughed...then they choked me out, tied me up like a pretzel, cracked my bones...not laughing. Respect to anyone who can last >3 minutes in a ring; no matter their style of fighting!
Actually he did do Karate, stop watching movies and take an actual class, and please don't take a "Karate" class in the United States... He punched him and kicked him, using Karate
@ChamorruWarrior STFU, and tell me WHAT tech he used? A punch and a kick is Karate? STFU! So if someone kicks someone-they know karate? NO! Karate did not invent the kick you moron! I have taken classes in submission/jiu jitsu/karate/grappling so again STFU!
its hard to compare fighting styles and techniques because u always have to account for the fact that their are two different fighters in the ring. perhaps if you could clone a person and teach one karate and the other jiu jitsu then u might be able to conduct a valid experiment but i cant see that hapnin any time soon. the best fighters know that both have their strengths and weaknesses and that it would be beneficial to know both.
The only difference between the two fighting stiles is that Karate is supposed to be used completely defensively. So if someone on the street was to try and hit you, you'd restrain them a couple of times and warn them to back off. If they carried on you'd have to hit them (I know this because I do Karate). JiuJitsu on the other hand - from what I can tell anyway - is a bit more aggressive. I don't have much knowledge of jiujitsu.
The point is, don't compare them. They're both effective!
well i agree with you, kinda.... on ground bjj is 100 times more efective than karate... however the white guy had no idea on what to do when the karate guy holded his hand... noticed than he could haven done a scorpion or a half nelson but was too slow to execute the movement... anyways its not fair to compare different styles =)
This is the reason why MMA is at least 50% safer than boxing because 50% of the time you get a grappler who tries to just submit you like the long hair guy in this video. If you tap out early enough, you will be fine whereas in boxing, you can't tap out to a knock out.......
The Karate guys does know how to sprawl and stuff. I am not sure if they teach you sprawling in your Karate dojo. There are guys who know no/little ground game and survive in MMA like Cro Cop.
@Henilla because a BJJ fighter isn't supossed to lose against a karateka (no, im not a "fanatic") but the white guy doesnt even knows how to do the lion killer which is one of the basic techniques of BJJ
@Henilla - ok.... I'm BJJ practitioner, but I also practice krav magá. I can say this dude is not a good example of a BJJ practitioner. I love karate and I think it's a really great martial art, one of the most efficient I must say!
@Henilla Yeah some them are, i don't get it either! We got a new guy in our karate club who did jiujitsu and he tried to explain our 4th dan sensei how to twist someones arm the right way!
@Henilla Because they are not as used to failure and defeat as other martial artists.
But once you're used to it, you will see it as nothing more than routine, which, I believe, is your case, since you have failed to understand their arrogance.
@30calcowboy That's true, he is an idiot for not choking the other guy. Moreover, at 1:20 he could have execute a simple kata-ha-jime; and at 1:40 he did the stupidest choke ever seen.
@knownpornographer The "that's because he knows bjj too" argument is pathetic. One of the major rules in combat is to know the enemy so you can defeat him. The Gracies trained for decades to screw up everyone else, while other martial artists just minded their own business. They may have lost in the beginning, but it was just a matter of time for everyone to get used to bjj and learn to defeat it. So, what you're saying is it's only fair if the other one doesn't have a clue? Makes perfect sense.
@Tech5420 laughable, learn how to defeat it by learning it thereself? If you are using it even the defence you are a practioner yourself. you may know more of one art then another but you still have to study bjj in some form. same could be said with other martial arts.
I been fighting and training over 10 plus years now, and there is no one art of martial arts being the best. you have to be well rounded to step in a cage so which means train in bjj or wrestling and which ever stand-up you perfer.
@agious11 Maybe I am, maybe I am not. But still I would like you to suck my balls, and I prefer more to fuck assholes like yourself then listen to Ketty WHO THE FUCK Pery. So fuck of dumbass and one more time fuck you karate asshole again.
@agious11 WOW, now you sead it! Who the fuck is Richard Simmons?! You think you are funny?! Used toilet paper has more sens for humor then you. And I bet u are some asshole who is behind screan eating some greasy food and thinking "I'm so super smart and I know how hard they train, I've so that on clip, and I'll show them with my comments". I wipe ass with pussys like you. Let me ask you something. Do you really train any of this sports? Pick a life, it's interesting thing when you have one
@agious11 Actualy asshole I'm 25 and I train bjj, so that means that I know something about sport. And you my friend are dumb as a horse shit. If you don't belive me, find me on fb. Hahahaha "ask mom" - Dumb-shit-douchebag-shit talking-no life-looser. Hey cock sucker what do you do in really life? :)
@Boriskordic Apparently your instructor failed to teach you the respect side of martial arts. The slew of insults your throwing out are demeaning yourself more than the guy your throwing them at.
@goulter1985 I don't have problem with that. Respect or dissrespect bjj is better the karate, but only if you know bjj. I was talking on his comment, tha't how it started. Read it, than talk
@Boriskordic There is no best martial art. Just as many Karate practioners have beaten BJJ practioners and vice versa. If your under the impression that the style makes you a better martial artist, then your very mistaken. It's the artist, not the style. The BJJ bandwagon will fall off and people will see its weaknesses, as every martial art. It happened with karate, kickboxing, muay thai and has done for hundreds of years. Your in for disappointment if your relying on that.
@goulter1985 Untill thet I will belive that bjj has some advantage over karate and other martal styles. Proven by Gracies, Werdum, Aoki and many others.
@Boriskordic if BJJ alone had advantages over all others...Royce Gracie wouldnt have been made to look like a complete amateur by Matt Hughes. Aside from the fact that jiu jitsu isnt really brazilian anyway....its as good as teaching muay thai in the uk and calling it "english muay thai", fact remains...martial arts dont make a good fightrer. the martial artist makes a good fighter...but if you like being ignorant or open to any and all things...your at the disadvantage
@goulter1985 Actually my personal opinion is that combo of judo and bjj is best of all. You are wrong about gracie (brazilian) jj. It's a form of judo developed in Brazil with accent on ground fight instead of ippons and throws. It's result of Gracie vs Kimura fight. Every fighter falls and rises in his carieer, so is Royce. If bjj isn't so important no one wouldn't learn ground fight like on begining of ufc. Who is now ignorant?

This is not a bjj vs Karate fight its an MMA fight. Its very apparent that the fighter on the bottom is a skilled mma fighter and well versed in submission defense he is a well seasoned boxer not Karate practitioner. Get your facts together before you post a title like this.

@smogs7 I agree. No one is laughing, so we have to look for karate somewhere else.

fucking BJJ grapplers giving jiujitsu a bad name. jiujitsu is combat. not just hey lets roll and ill try to grave ur wrist..lol. there is more to it. u puch a black belt in tye face and them skills go right out the window. because they practice BJJ. not the real form of JiuJitsu
813Geane 4 months ago
@813Geane
u never go for the face as a first strike, u may break ur knuckles or miss.
fights nearly always end up on the floor in reality.
u can strike with a palm after a body blow and snap the jaw off, but lower ribs make more effective target, an upper cut and the lung collapses.
plus I would have palm slappped his ears and burst his eardrums when on the floor, or removed an eye.
tpvalley 4 months ago
@tpvalley Thats real JiuJitsu and what u do standing u can do it on the ground but much better with more precision, power, technical, striking and much more. like elbows from guard. but not just slapping them on them. but by nealing them in the eye socket. all that can be done in MMA. but I've heard using ur palms to the ear drums in MMA is illegal. if not i wouldn't do that. i don't want to hurt my opponent. but trying to win hurts people sometimes. winning is everything
813Geane 4 months ago
@813Geane
for me violence is not a game or a sport, it is to defend myself againt potentially fatal attacks,
if threatened badly enough to fight its life or death, u MUST incapacitate your opponent fully, to do this u need to use minimum effort to cause maximum harm; I love everyone and understand why they are the way they are, but the pain they feel others and they will learn a valuable lesson from, the pain of a beating is severre, luckily Im usually drunk!
tpvalley 4 months ago
@tpvalley thats so true. i got into a fight. and after it was all done with i was feeling horrible. but i started to look at it from that point of view. "he won't ever talk shit to the wrong person" because he learned. so i possibly saved his life. but who knows right. and i love life and people believe it or not. but if a life must be taken in order to save my families, someone else's or mine then it must be taken...

It's sad that these UFC crap is really destroying traditional martial arts. Most of these fights become wrestling matches rather than actual fighting... USUALLY the heaviest man wins, not the best fighter.
Before anyone feels offended, I know and acknowledge that there are great fighters in these matches as well.
rold820212 4 months ago
@rold820212 - But that's the whole point of mixing martial arts! Put them all together and see how they work against each other. The most complete fighters usually wins, not the haviest (what if the haviest guy is more complete?). You watch Anderson Silva fighting and you'll see he oftenly beats his contestants standing up, not on the ground. I understand ur point, but I don't fully agree with you.
tiaputadobatiman 4 months ago
@tiaputadobatiman I believe we're saying the same thing focusing on different parts. I've seen these fights and there are some excelent and complete fighters. My only point is that this fights USUALLY (not always) end up on the ground with the heaviest man on top and that most people get more excited about all the blood and beating than the fight quality itself.

fattiesgonewild 4 months ago
@fattiesgonewild
Obviously the black is karate and the white guy is BJJ. The black guy was much more dominant while standing up and fighting so BJJ took him to the ground but took to big riskes and ended up losing.

jin54363 4 months ago
@jin54363 the traditional form is spelled JuJutsu not the modern one. I mean is the word 'sun' spelled the same way in english or german?
mok0s1 3 months ago
@mok0s1
i think the traditional form should always be used mostly because the word jutsu means art, and jitsu means nothing.
jin54363 3 months ago
@jin54363 'jitsu' is a linguistic loan from the japanese word 'jutsu' is valid anyway. From all the words existing in english very little have an anglo-saxon root. That is why languages grow and enrich, is not a bad thing

@scarred10 It reminds me of a drunken evening at a party when a friend and I had a battle royal but both of us were too drunk to remember about half the steps in the moves. It doesn't take too many key details missed and you create openings and opportunities for escape or striking on your opponent's part.
bigbabo25 1 month ago
@bigbabo25 I took BJJ for fun. Others used to say that when you hit a black belt BJJ they turn Brown. I laughed and laughed...then they choked me out, tied me up like a pretzel, cracked my bones...not laughing. Respect to anyone who can last >3 minutes in a ring; no matter their style of fighting!

ChamorruWarrior 4 months ago
@ChamorruWarrior STFU, and tell me WHAT tech he used? A punch and a kick is Karate? STFU! So if someone kicks someone-they know karate? NO! Karate did not invent the kick you moron! I have taken classes in submission/jiu jitsu/karate/grappling so again STFU!
quetzalel 4 months ago
its hard to compare fighting styles and techniques because u always have to account for the fact that their are two different fighters in the ring. perhaps if you could clone a person and teach one karate and the other jiu jitsu then u might be able to conduct a valid experiment but i cant see that hapnin any time soon. the best fighters know that both have their strengths and weaknesses and that it would be beneficial to know both.
91mangina 5 months ago
The only difference between the two fighting stiles is that Karate is supposed to be used completely defensively. So if someone on the street was to try and hit you, you'd restrain them a couple of times and warn them to back off. If they carried on you'd have to hit them (I know this because I do Karate). JiuJitsu on the other hand - from what I can tell anyway - is a bit more aggressive. I don't have much knowledge of jiujitsu.
The point is, don't compare them. They're both effective!
4297676 5 months ago
@4297676
well i agree with you, kinda.... on ground bjj is 100 times more efective than karate... however the white guy had no idea on what to do when the karate guy holded his hand... noticed than he could haven done a scorpion or a half nelson but was too slow to execute the movement... anyways its not fair to compare different styles =)
klzglz 5 months ago
this guy is terrible at BJJ lol
bigrock123 5 months ago
This is the reason why MMA is at least 50% safer than boxing because 50% of the time you get a grappler who tries to just submit you like the long hair guy in this video. If you tap out early enough, you will be fine whereas in boxing, you can't tap out to a knock out.......
garamoth7 5 months ago
The Karate guys does know how to sprawl and stuff. I am not sure if they teach you sprawling in your Karate dojo. There are guys who know no/little ground game and survive in MMA like Cro Cop.

yosmer333 5 months ago
@Henilla - ok.... I'm BJJ practitioner, but I also practice krav magá. I can say this dude is not a good example of a BJJ practitioner. I love karate and I think it's a really great martial art, one of the most efficient I must say!
tiaputadobatiman 4 months ago

this karate fighter clearly has also trained bjj. he correctly defended atleast 4 submission attempts. A smart martial artists cross trains.
knownpornographer 5 months ago
@knownpornographer The "that's because he knows bjj too" argument is pathetic. One of the major rules in combat is to know the enemy so you can defeat him. The Gracies trained for decades to screw up everyone else, while other martial artists just minded their own business. They may have lost in the beginning, but it was just a matter of time for everyone to get used to bjj and learn to defeat it. So, what you're saying is it's only fair if the other one doesn't have a clue? Makes perfect sense.
Tech5420 5 months ago
@Tech5420 laughable, learn how to defeat it by learning it thereself? If you are using it even the defence you are a practioner yourself. you may know more of one art then another but you still have to study bjj in some form. same could be said with other martial arts.
labarath 5 months ago
@knownpornographer this is mma. everyone trains bjj. This is true without fail.
knownpornographer 5 months ago
I been fighting and training over 10 plus years now, and there is no one art of martial arts being the best. you have to be well rounded to step in a cage so which means train in bjj or wrestling and which ever stand-up you perfer.

@Boriskordic Apparently your instructor failed to teach you the respect side of martial arts. The slew of insults your throwing out are demeaning yourself more than the guy your throwing them at.
goulter1985 5 months ago
@goulter1985 I don't have problem with that. Respect or dissrespect bjj is better the karate, but only if you know bjj. I was talking on his comment, tha't how it started. Read it, than talk
Boriskordic 5 months ago
@Boriskordic There is no best martial art. Just as many Karate practioners have beaten BJJ practioners and vice versa. If your under the impression that the style makes you a better martial artist, then your very mistaken. It's the artist, not the style. The BJJ bandwagon will fall off and people will see its weaknesses, as every martial art. It happened with karate, kickboxing, muay thai and has done for hundreds of years. Your in for disappointment if your relying on that.
goulter1985 5 months ago
@goulter1985 Untill thet I will belive that bjj has some advantage over karate and other martal styles. Proven by Gracies, Werdum, Aoki and many others.
Boriskordic 5 months ago
@Boriskordic if BJJ alone had advantages over all others...Royce Gracie wouldnt have been made to look like a complete amateur by Matt Hughes. Aside from the fact that jiu jitsu isnt really brazilian anyway....its as good as teaching muay thai in the uk and calling it "english muay thai", fact remains...martial arts dont make a good fightrer. the martial artist makes a good fighter...but if you like being ignorant or open to any and all things...your at the disadvantage
goulter1985 5 months ago
@goulter1985 Actually my personal opinion is that combo of judo and bjj is best of all. You are wrong about gracie (brazilian) jj. It's a form of judo developed in Brazil with accent on ground fight instead of ippons and throws. It's result of Gracie vs Kimura fight. Every fighter falls and rises in his carieer, so is Royce. If bjj isn't so important no one wouldn't learn ground fight like on begining of ufc. Who is now ignorant?
