I have been thinking about getting our Pointer one of those jacket, but didn't know how well they'd work. Will definitely be getting one for him this summer! Great video!
I love these videos of Linus and your daughter. they are so familiar. my daughter had her own Linus named Zeus. She would hold her breath and sit on the bottom of the pool and Zeus would jump in to save her. We had to get a life vest for him too. boxers are top heavy I am so happy to see him so well taken care of. I wish you many years of happiness with him. every child deserves their own Boxer!
I'm in very real danger of naming my next dog Linus! Did you get the idea from Peanuts? Wherever, he's a brilliant dog and you guys deserve as much praise as him for how well you've nurtured him; he's playful but gentle with the kids just like a Boxer ought to be.
haha - my boxer Gypsy used to be terrified of the water too. I think I was collecting shark teeth and totally ignoring her...when she simply got tired of being left out and jumped in. Then she decided "water is fun!" we had trouble dragging her away. Boxers are the best dogs in the world!
I love that you guys give him alone time with you guys as well. Not all parents remember that your dog also needs some of your individual attention as well.
I love Linus! Reminds of my late boxer, Richie! I've never seen a dog jumping so high, as high as my height, or picking pears and apples from the trees and eating them for real! He was amazing! <3
I have to get one for my boy hopefully he won't be scared then, he's 1/2 boxer 1/2 beagle. His musculature is all boxer though and is scared of even going in my girls kiddie pool lol.

My boxer x always used to sink as a pup but she loved the water anyway and swims really well now. She will even come out into the big breakers when we are body boarding, people are amazed and lol when they see her. She follows us in and will grab the board and run off with it if she can

Hahaha! Old Chump! He's adorable though. My dog also used to be scared of water, but one day saw a stick floating in a lake and just jumped right in, which was followed by her running and splashing the water, and trying to eat it at the same time. XD
@66752063686172 you can get them from outdoor sports stores and online, they are made for animals and are used on dogs who like to go rafting and play in rough water ect or for dogs like linus here who like water but sink when they try to swim

Dutch sank her one and only visit to the local lake as well, and had to be fished out - we were all shocked, I had no idea and I'm sure she was not expecting it either. We never went back. Wonder how long these life jackets have been around... another regret, I think she would have loved being in the water. Ah well, storing the knowledge for future reference. This dog warms my heart. The bond that he has with your daughter is adorable and I hope mine and my fiances Rottweiler will have a bond like that with our future children someday. You guys have proved that even so called "dangerous" breeds arent dangerous at all. Its how they are raised. These videos make my day. Your dog is truly special. Awesome vids... My boxer Mosely loved swimming... he took to it when a pup, & never needed a life jacket. I got him to swim to wear him out! He was a natural swimmer in the water. My other two wouldn`t go in past their elbows.... Who knows why. All dogs seem to react differently. That is what makes them so cool! Go Boxers!

Linus is precious! And he's the epitome of how wonderful a dog can be with their new babies and families. Rescues see so many people surrender or give away their dogs when a new baby comes along. It's SO heartbreaking and in many cases unnecessary. With training, patience and close supervision, babies and dogs can coexist in a home just fine. Dogs consider the baby to be part of their pack, and want to protect the baby. Linus is just totally awesome!
hey, hope Linus's parents get this. We have rented a lake house in the Adirondacks. We are bringing our boxer rescue with us. His friend the lab is also coming and I am looking for a good life vest for him. The one you got Linus looks great. Can you tell me the brand. I am hopefull with the life vest that our boxer will enjoy the water with his buddy the lab.
@azenithjoie Some Boxers can't swim because they're too heavy up front. Unfortunately, Linus is one of them and without the life jacket he sinks. He had to ask his yellow lab girlfriend to retrieve all the balls and sticks we threw into the water ;)
@slwoodyb Yay! Linus has a love life - a yellow lab sweetie! Unsurprisin, though, given Linus' handsome looks and great physique. Plus my buddys good with babies, too. He needs his own talk show, since Oprah' gone.
@slwoodyb Between me and my dad we've had four boxer's and none of them could swim. In fact I've never heard of a boxer that could swim lol. Love these videos !! I've spent my entire night watching them and fondly remembering my boxers and have sent a couple to my son who, when he has a place big enough, of course wants to have his own boxer buddy. @azenithjoie some dog breeds (like Labs, Newfoundlands, etc..) are born with a love for the water. But as far as I know dogs are not born knowing how to swim but are taught by their mother. Or probably in a lot of cases by their owners. I was at the dog park one day and a dog went running and jumped into the water and the water was over his head and he couldn't swim and their owner had to go in the water to get the dog out because he was doggy paddling but was not moving anywhere.
@azenithjoie A friend had to rescue his lab from drowning when they first tried it out - he thought the same thing (that they were natural swimmers). Good thing HE could swim!

@zamusicza You are wrong. Dogs "eat" and bang with leg to water, when they're full of water (in stomach). The only accident is when a dog does not dry and could catch a cold. My pitbull (R.I.P. - lived 13.5 years) learned swim hilmself without safejacket....So just chill out, man... and take it easy =c) They look like good parents =c)

Boxers are front heavy and can't swim very well. My Ollie went right under the first time he jumped into the pond at the dog park. After about 30 seconds and no sight of him I thought I'd have to jump in myself and rescue him! I didn't know they made dog life jackets - will give it a try. Thanks for all the wonderful videos. :)

@slwoodyb i have 2 boxers as well, Sam and Stitch. Sam is now 3 and Stitch is 2.5 years...Sam jumped into the pool at 7 months and sunk. He hasn't tried to jump in since. I need to buy a life jacket.
@cookie71282 We taught our boxer to swim using a life jacket when he was a puppy because we have a pool. After a few times with the jacket he can swim fine without it, but not great. He never goes in intentionally, but he did fall in once during winter while chasing a bird, and I did not see -I'm so thankful we had taught him how to get out. The pool was freezing! I ran out to get him and wrapped him up and put the fireplace on...he was fine. So you can use the jacket to teach them:)

@azenithjoie Some Boxers can't swim because they're too heavy up front. Unfortunately, Linus is one of them and without the life jacket he sinks. He had to ask his yellow lab girlfriend to retrieve all the balls and sticks we threw into the water ;)

@slwoodyb Yay! Linus has a love life - a yellow lab sweetie! Unsurprisin, though, given Linus' handsome looks and great physique. Plus my buddys good with babies, too. He needs his own talk show, since Oprah' gone.

@slwoodyb Between me and my dad we've had four boxer's and none of them could swim. In fact I've never heard of a boxer that could swim lol. Love these videos !! I've spent my entire night watching them and fondly remembering my boxers and have sent a couple to my son who, when he has a place big enough, of course wants to have his own boxer buddy. @azenithjoie some dog breeds (like Labs, Newfoundlands, etc..) are born with a love for the water. But as far as I know dogs are not born knowing how to swim but are taught by their mother. Or probably in a lot of cases by their owners. I was at the dog park one day and a dog went running and jumped into the water and the water was over his head and he couldn't swim and their owner had to go in the water to get the dog out because he was doggy paddling but was not moving anywhere.

@azenithjoie A friend had to rescue his lab from drowning when they first tried it out - he thought the same thing (that they were natural swimmers). Good thing HE could swim!

OMG OMG how could you let your dog so close to the water? Don't you know a dog could suddenly turn vicious and bite the water? What kind of parent are you? OMG OMG OMG don't you know that accidents can happen in an instant and that lake could be scarred for life? OMG OMG OMG...(since the baby wasn't in this video I didn't want the lake to feel left out)

@zamusicza You are wrong. Dogs "eat" and bang with leg to water, when they're full of water (in stomach). The only accident is when a dog does not dry and could catch a cold. My pitbull (R.I.P. - lived 13.5 years) learned swim hilmself without safejacket....So just chill out, man... and take it easy =c) They look like good parents =c)

@cbarron37 Yes it is. We were worried he would have trouble swimming (and guessed correctly) so picked one up before taking him around the lake.

Boxers are front heavy and can't swim very well. My Ollie went right under the first time he jumped into the pond at the dog park. After about 30 seconds and no sight of him I thought I'd have to jump in myself and rescue him! I didn't know they made dog life jackets - will give it a try. Thanks for all the wonderful videos. :)

Hey guys, cheers to Canada from Slovakia. How old was Linus, when you took him home? Other then puppy school, any other training? Since I have X-Ed over your videos, I gonna get us a boxer as well into our house here ;)))) great vids, I was charmed after swing the first one.UR both great parents and wonderfull doggy owners ;))

@slwoodyb i have 2 boxers as well, Sam and Stitch. Sam is now 3 and Stitch is 2.5 years...Sam jumped into the pool at 7 months and sunk. He hasn't tried to jump in since. I need to buy a life jacket.

@cookie71282 We taught our boxer to swim using a life jacket when he was a puppy because we have a pool. After a few times with the jacket he can swim fine without it, but not great. He never goes in intentionally, but he did fall in once during winter while chasing a bird, and I did not see -I'm so thankful we had taught him how to get out. The pool was freezing! I ran out to get him and wrapped him up and put the fireplace on...he was fine. So you can use the jacket to teach them:)
