I was told the same thing by my dad, but I don't understand how that works. I mean, an arrow provides almost no resistance or weight for the bow. Just thinking about the physics of it, firing a bow with or without an arrow should have no difference to the forces put on the bow.

Yeah, I don't completely understand the physics behind it either. I was told that the energy of the bow goes into the arrow, whereas if there's no arrow the bow takes all the energy. It sounded more spiritual than scientific, but you don't want to see a bow blow up, trust me lol.
