    George Vreeland Hill

  • Charlie was a great entertainer and singer.Hes singing duet with Elvis on the song i will be home again from the album Elvis is back from 1960.He sangd in some home recordings with Elvis too.

  • Charlie Hodge was a gifted entertainer, musician, vocalist, and loyal friend to Elvis as well as being a treasured source for Elvis Fans Worldwide.Charlie Hodge was the PRIMARY reason Elvis "survived" after the passing of Gladys on 8 14 1958. The World lost a jewel when Charlie passed away.

Thank you for posting on YouTube.

Take care and may God bless you.

  • He was one of just a handful of TRUE friends to Elvis along with Joe Esposito, Jerry Schilling and George Klein, the others were just hangers on, who betrayed Elvis in one way or another.

  • Charlie's closest friend discussed the 'water and scarf" comment Elvis made with George Klein on his show and said that no one gave it any thought at the time; Elvis just said it becase at that moment on the show Charlie was handing him his water and his scarf. You could hear in Elvis's voice that he loved the guy, so most people gave it no thought. Anyone who saw any Elvis DVD's could see Charlie

was a great singer and possibly Elvis's closest friend --- certainly on stage he was.

  • I met James and Marion Burton a few years ago. Marion told me that Elvis treated his guys extremely well. He would walk up to her putting an envelope in her hand and say "Have a good time." In the envelope would be a trip to Jamaica or Hawaii for her and James. He gave all of them tons of gifts. They loved him.

  • I don't see the point of charlie, Elvis didn't need him, yeh he was a friend but standing in the background on stage all the time he seems kinda useless.

  • elvis had a chest carpet

  • Aucun homme ne ne peut ressembler à Elvis. On ne compare pas ce qui est incomparable. Elvis tu as été, et tu seras toujours ELVIS, le meilleur de tous et de tous les temps.

  • Noone sings like Elvis presley, he have it all!!.

  • This show should have been done with Eddie Miles. consider your self privillaged Lou.

  • Charlie Hodge was, and always will be a gentleman.

  • sometime i think joe was working more for the Colonel than Elvis especially those last few years. They worked his ass off. all the colonel cared about was frog skins.

man he just saw elvis as a work horse. ............very sad.

Red West tried to get Elvis off those pills and a better diet because he was an old high school friend started with elvis way back..was elvis's first sidekick.

then he wrote the book which probably was not a good thing.

  • @MrSpringtime22 what do you mean about frog skins?Wish he coulda shook the pills, but from his lifestyle of everyone up his ass,he felt that was the only way out. He will always be the king in my books!

  • @MrSpringtime22 Dam Straight it wasnt a good thing to wright that book .That hurt E so bad they are lucky Elvis didnt put a dam hit out on there betraying asses.

  • Who do you think taught Elvis to be a "singer" and not just the hic up, hill billy cat, rockabilly, kid? CHARLIE HODGE. All Elvis fans, owe this man so much. It was Charlie's knowledge of music that refined the raw talent Elvis brought to the table. I so much enjoyed meeting this man, Charlie Hodge. He was charming, thoughtful, caring, always protecting Elvis and even the image of Elvis. We miss you Charlie and we thank you, thank you very much!

  • wertyouopasdfghjkl.zxcvbnm

  • After Elvis died, Charlie can back to his home town of Decatur Alabama for a while. I live in Decatur and became friends with Charlie; just simple beer drinking, dart throwing, pool shooting buddies. Charlie had a great music ability.

  • R.I.P Charlie or as Elvis called u "Cholly" :D

  • Charlie a loyal friend to Elvis to the very end. He was always TCB. Sad to see him looking frail and unwell in this film footage.

  • It must be weird for charlie standing up there on the stage with that ass dressed up as his mate.

  • agree

  • I agree with that, 100%

  • charly was a fantastic man and a real friend of elvis

  • met charlie in 1990 when i played guitar for legends of rock n roll (elvis, roy, buddy) he came to the show, made an onstage appearance and had dinner with us later. i sat beside him while he told us a story about alloha hawaii via sattelite: he said after that show, he went to his hotel room, got naked and stood on the balcony. then the phone rang- "charlie, it's me, elvis. we just played to 1,000,000,000 people" replied charlie, "i know"....

  • You're a real sickie....you need to see a shrink, you need

    help real badly.

  • We really miss you Charlie!!!! :(

And God bless everyone at Memories we love you!!

  • Charlie had a music legacy apart from Elvis. He sang lead in a nationally recognized group in the 50s, and in the 60s he worked with country star Jimmy Wakely. The man could sing. Perhaps Elvis did him a bit of a disservice by introducing him as the man that fetched his water and handed him his scarves.

  • That is so true..I was listening to one of my old records yesterday and heard that. I had never really paid any attention to that before. Good point you made here!

  • @ChesterVoumette Keep in mind that Elvis and Charlie had a relationship that included always pranking each other and calling each other names. They were friends since his days in the army - some say he was closer to Elvis than Joe Espisito....I guarantee that Elvis was very good to Charlie Hodge...

  • This is funny..

How old was Charlie Hodge when he died? He's old, and looks like Elvis and him are close..

  • elvis and charlie were close charlie died a couple of years ago.this is charlie with a elvis tribute artist.charlie was a wonderful human being and elvis thought of him as a brother

  • this is elvis tribute artist eddie miles with charlie

  • OMG! what? I thought that was Elvis! LOL!! And I was wondering why is Elvis so close with such an old man, no offense haha

  • No, its Elvis Tribute Artist Lou Vuto..not Eddie Miles.

  • I didn't know Mr. Hodge died! Man this is really sad! I just hope him Elvis and JD are making sweet music! I can't believe Charlie is gone! RIP Charlie Hodge.

  • I wonder if Charlie is any relation to me .Though an "s" got added somewhere along the way my family name is Hodge. All my dad's family & kin were from the Maryville area of Tennessee. I have some ancestors-Confederate soldiers - buried in a little cemetary in Cades Cove. I was the first d------ yankee of the family to be born here in Wisconsin in 1940.

  • Charlie was just a "yes" man.

  • Elvis thought the world of Charlie. Charlie's gone now so please don't put him down, if you have a soul.

  • who is the elvis impersonator there? he seems like he woul be good.

  • His name is Lou Vuto! If you have not seen him GO! He does a great job!

    Deb

  • Lou's got a youtube account. If you go to my friends list on here you can find it.

  • This was Charlie, I saw him there at least twice and he had a wonderful sense of humor, I got his book autographed and even talked to him a couple of times for a minute or two, he was wonderful with the fans and took his time answering every question. He is buried in Decauter Alabama near his family. I also feel his spirit is at Graceland because he talked to me about living there, I just know they are reunited, what fun times they had together from all the pictures.

  • thank you! i love Charlie Hodgeway...

  • Who is the ETA with him?

  • Is Charlie Hodge living?

  • Nah, he died a couple years ago. I met him, bought his book(which I recommend for Elvis fans) and got his autograph at that last show.

  • Charlie and Lou were good to me i live in England, i got videos sent across charlie sent me his book signed...i was upset to hear he had left us!

  • as an elvis fan i feel silly not knowing charlie had died...i met him and he was a nice guy...rip mr hodge

  • Oh don't feel bad, they never talked about it on the news or anything. If I hadn't been where he was I wouldn't have known either.

  • thanx dude

  • Lou Vuto is an amazing performer and charlie is surely missed

  • Charlie,Jerry Shilling,Joe Estopito and all the band were TRUE friends to Elvis ...unlike many I could mention.

  • are you sure about joe? Definitely CHARLIE AND JD, and some others

  • Well I can't think of a reason not to think so and he was there as road manager right up to the last show and all iv'e heard him say since is good things.I've seen many interviews with him since Elvis died and I honestly believe he was sincere. Why do you know different?

  • I dont KNOW, but have heard. Alot of the fans dont care for Joe for certain reasons, one being he changed his story about the death scene, and one that he snookered Elvis out of a bunch of money on a deal gone bad for a sports business that Elvis gave him lots of money to start for himself. But I dont know-

  • there u go stuff from memories thetare

  • you're right, I had forgotten the name of that place. They didn't even advertise he was going to be there. I thought the show was so good I drove all the way down there the next weekend to see it again but he had died sometime that week. A lot of people miss him. To my surprise, this video is rising faster then the rest of mine.

  • sorry you missed him, but you are so lucky you saw the one. I visted Charlie's grave today-I had a hard time finding it. It was sad,but I have a feeling his spirit is more at Graceland with Elvis than in this little country cemetery

  • where's he burried at? I really don't know that much about him. I really didn't know who he was when I saw him at this show and he talked about his book (which I bought and had him sign that night).

  • you are so lucky yoiu have an autographed book!I guess you have seen the vid tribute to him and Elvis? He is buried in a little church cemetery in Alabama.I can tell you more details in a private message if youd like.

  • decatur illinois...it is a great book i think....mine is signed also

  • After reading all these comments I think it's more rare to have an unsigned copy of his book...lol...mine is signed too

  • I think the fact that so many autographed copies of his book exist is further testament to what an obliging fellow Charlie was. Loyal to Elvis and the fans until the end,God bless Charlie.
