Horowitz quotes Sarah Brady relating how President Obama gave his personal assurance that he and his administration were working hard on a gun-control agenda. Brady reported that Obama then told them about advancing the agenda "under the radar."

When he said under the radar Obama meant the Federal Government is using an operation by the name of "Operation Fast and Furious", run by the ATF, FBI and US Department of Justice.... they sent thousands of firearms into mexico to further destabilize Northern Mexico. The feds made sure to track the guns they sold to the cartels by the serial numbers. The plan was to blame the 2nd amendment and the sale of guns to citizens in the USA for the violence in North Mexico; Demonizing the 2nd amendment.

I put my life on the line for total strangers more than a few times. I'm retired now but I'd have to say that if a situation came up where I thought I had a chance of saving there life I would have to act. Obama will probably try to push through something particularly "sweeping", which will likely only drive the cost for decent capacity magazines up a tick. Gun Control is the main reason ex chicago Mayor Richard Daley supported Obama. Daley is for gun control, too. He could have supported Hillary Clinton(born in Park Ridge, IL). Chicago is one of the few cities that is anti conceal carry. Plus, toughest to own a firearm and usage. No firing ranges in Chicago for the public. If you have a gun for residence usage. You can't have it on your porch or garage. I know, those are part of the property that is leased or owned.

There are far more of us than there are of them, and the people being aware of that fact is the one thing they fear most. As for weapons, I'd hardly call what is available to the average American "second rate", and in many cases federal agencies supply their personnel with the same stuff (AR-15s, glocks, and the like).

They will keep working on it Demcad, but when they finally do it, it will be rougher and faster than in the UK. While it will never be legal, it likely will not be "legal" in any way, shape of form when it happens. It will be enforced in a martial law type fashion. I'm in favor of protecting the 2nd amendment but certain people with a criminal history or mentally unstable people (like Jared Loughner) need to be kept away from guns altogether. I sure as heck hope they do not try to weasel around and take away the 2nd amendment right.

I put my life on the line for total strangers more than a few times. I'm retired now but I'd have to say that if a situation came up where I thought I had a chance of saving there life I would have to act. Obama will probably try to push through something particularly "sweeping", which will likely only drive the cost for decent capacity magazines up a tick. Like most in government, he has a very inflated idea of what his purpose and power are. Operative words are "registered" firearms and owners. Tracking who legally owns a gun will in no way aid in reducing firearms related crimes, but it will allow them to continue passing the buck. Only an armed society is a polite one.

The US gov't can do many things, but one thing they can never do is operate outside of the purview of the US Constitution. That "moldy piece of paper" is their kryptonite. The 2nd Amendment was established to outlaw the gov't from illegally confiscating or outright banning guns from the citizenry. They can want all they want, but unless they repeal the 2nd Amendment - which isn't going to happen - they're screwed. Sure, they can pile on taxes, but folks can still buy if they have the money.

I was under the impression, that the the 2nd amendment, stating, "The Right Of The People To Keep And Bear Arms, Shall Not Be Infringed," was pretty cut and dry. I never thought it had to be defined differently. I guess nothing means what it is supposed to anymore. Gun enthusiast or not, If this can be infringed upon, its only be the beginning of our other rights being infringed upon as well. I don't see how you can successfully limit sales of higher capacity mags when some guns are made 4 them.

they really don't care about us having 2nd rate weapons. They are issuing HK rifles that can put out 900 rounds a minute and all the advanced systems to attach to them. They don't care about the civilians killing each other. They have extensive training, communications, and transportation. People having guns really doesn't mean all some people think. The NRA sold us out long ago going along with the civilian full auto ban without a special permit. large cap mags....oooo. think their scarred?

@carl16760 I think you're overstating the feds' ability to suppress a large and angry population. It doesn't matter how well organized or trained they are. There are far more of us than there are of them, and the people being aware of that fact is the one thing they fear most. As for weapons, I'd hardly call what is available to the average American "second rate", and in many cases federal agencies supply their personnel with the same stuff (AR-15s, glocks, and the like).

They have full dress to carry everything needed to kill and survive. They have communications in their ears. they have thermo imagining that takes away rebels ability to hide...they have air support with satellite image help..and the ability to turn off the power..Rambo was a MOVIE...I think your reaching.

@carl16760 I thought you were talking about federal agents, but whatever. Even our military isn't invincible. Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan prove that. You're thinking in terms of WW2 era conventional warfare. Guerilla warfare is a little different ball game. Conventional armies are cumbersome and slow to mobilize, guerillas are highly mobile. Also, supposing that there was a civil war in this country, don't you think there would be more than a few military people who would side with us?

They don't need and legal precedent. You want to know how they are doing it under the radar? They are putting gun dealers out of business through ridiculous ATF red tape.
Just look at the amount of gun dealers in this country compared to 30 years ago. Despite gun sales growing, gun dealers are shrinking. This defies the laws of economics.
I got a visit from the ATF 2 weeks ago for legally selling guns and ammo over gunbroker... Intimidation, harassment, and publicity raids...

I think he (Obama) will go the route of TAXING large cap magazines. A $10 tax on a magazine that already costs $35 bucks will discourage alot of people from buying it.
