  • Sgmcfarlane. You are a cultural idiot. If you didn't like this song just keep your mouth shut. Nobody forced you to listen to it. Red Sovine was one of the greatest singers in the history of country music. If you can't see that, you are blind as a bat.

  • that when country music told a story not like country music today

  • i'm afraid you will have to explain that one to me......I'm not that educated I guess.....I don't know what a "cultural vacuum" is......I was talking about people who care about other people....and believe it or not there are a huge number of people who do.....what you read in the paper or hear on the news is not done by "real" American people......they're just mentally challenged trash if you will....!!

  • It's the people that have tears in their eyes when they hear songs like this...that make this country what it is and will always be.......! ! !

  • I am with you. my daddy and mom taught us to love this music. They were very talented. mom played the piano and daddy the mouth harp. today I love all kinds of music. my younger brother David was one of the orignail Monks in the 60's. he is now with the angels.

  • How fortunate to have grown up in a musical environment....I wish I had....I'd love to be talented at playing guitar or piano.......nothing I could have done about the voice though...lol...!!! Thanks for your comments...!!!

  • My Mother used to play this song when I was a child and I had not heard it in 35 yrs. or more. I have a disabled daughter and she was born with three holes in her heart. I Thank God Every Day for Her Life. This song makes me appreciate a child's life. A nice song that I fondly remember from the past.......We often take life for granted until it is lost.

  • his songs remind me of Johnny Paychecks 'Colorado Koolaid' and his singing voice is awsome

  • i love this song it made me cry

yall should shut the hell up if u dont liek him dont listen to his songs

  • i love this song

alwyas brings tears to my eyes

  • Red Solvine always sang the most beautiful songs and if you can't say anything nice just keep it to yourself......

  • Is this guy dead? Maybe I can take him a Rosa for a dollar! lol Maybe he got hit by a train!

  • looks like a perverted uncle lol

  • what a loser! my a mamma used to a singa me this a songa, Mamma did'nt a like a me a that a mucha

  • Sheeeeeeesh!!! What a dink......

  • If I give you a nice tee shirt with a bulls-eye on the front and back, would you wear it for me? You unimaginable waste of space!

  • my grandpa used to sing me this as a child. red sovine is not a waste of space. Red sovine is one of the best singers of all time.

  • I have no idea how you could gather from my comment that I was directing it to Red, but I assure you that I was defending him against one of the many idiots who frequent this forum. I don't even remember which one. Sorry for leaving the wrong impression. Just check my favorites and you'll see for yourself.

  • ok, sorry i jumped to conclusions,

  • I'm 13 and I love this song. Especially the Daddy's Girl song too.

  • My sister was named after this song.

  • Mirf59, The time that this song is set in $0.90 was like $10.00 to us now. Red Sovine never claimed to be "Rich Little" with his mimicking abilities. Enjoy the song or skip the song but dont try to ruin it for those of us who can look past miniscule "problems".

  • i might be young and all but i remember my daddy use to listen to this when we use to go to west va and to this day i cry thanks so mch for putting this songs on here

  • this is one of those songs that made listening to red sovine a pleasure

  • my mom said this made my aunt caron cry

  • This is Priceless, ....lol...everytime I hear it, ....I laugh uncontrolably, ......Have you every hear " Dream House", ......another Priceless Piece, .....( *

  • this is a very moving song, even for a so called macho man i too was effected.

  • I wonder if the Italian accent was inspired by Chico Marx?

  • It's supposed to be Italian.

  • (sobs) I just can't hold my tears back. It's impossible. every time I hear this I cry so hard I get a headache.

  • I used to get this way too when my dad used to sing this song when I was young.

  • i love red sovines music i mean i bet every girl out there who is daddys little girlwho listens to this then relizes how much her daddy loves her i remember when i heard this song with my dad he held me in his arms after i cried and then he told me that he would be devastated if i died and he would hve to go to my funearal and see my grave

  • @missy898 my dad played this song for me when i was little all the time when i was crying or after i cried

  • Fuck mang, this song made me cry for a week, and yet I can't stop listening to it.

  • this is great for someone who lost someone.

  • I was named after this song so is that a good omen or bad?? I mean its about a dead lil girl but then at the end it says even though she gone shes the world to me and she always be that lil girl of mine so hummm...

  • Red was a real artist. I love the way he cynically manipulated the swelling sentimentality of lonely cracker people for a cheap profit.

  • Genius! Gotta love Red though....

  • Nice analysis, but I believe ol' Red was from North Carolina.

  • brilliant my dad was always asked to sing this in pubs years ago

  • i miss u red.

  • as sad as the song is it speaks volumes i love the song but would kill if it came true id waht2die i could never handle losing my daughter in any way shape or form shes my life&so is her dad

  • This is a VERY sad song-it makes me want to cry all the way through it.I know a mother who just lost her only son about a week ago-he was only six.And when I heard this song tonight-she was in my thoughts.

  • OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its okkkkkkkkkkkkk..........

  • this is a nightmare to ANY father

  • ya it is a nightmare 4 any father

  • i know it would KILL me if this were to happen to my daughter

  • @newfiegothic ya that is too true i lost my daughter about 2 years ago so i know this is the worst song for any father to listen to after they lose some one very dear to them.

  • @bodyart3344 I had a beautiful 5 year old grandaughter who used to wait at the front door form me to get home from work, so the nightmare isnt limited to fathers
