Because the guys w/o the sparring gear are training for an upcoming fight, so are getting used to the hits even though not full speed. And yes after 5 continuous 5 or more minute rounds of sparring or more you do tend to become tired especially after the already 4+ hours of training before that. LOL, no sense wasting anymore time on someone who obviously doesn't train.
