Nice voice, bad diction, bad sub-glottal air pressure. Beautiful phrasing and connection to text. You even have a nice turnover for those A's and the B. All of that being said, you have no business singing this at your age if you want to sing when you're 40.
These people know what they're talking about @AwissaGibberson regardless of them being singers. The bare essentials of italian diction (pure vowels and rrrrroled r's to say the least) and the proper vocal technique should be second nature to a tenor before even thinking about singing this song. You approached this song as if it's a pop song when this is one of the iconic arias in the history of opera. If this is a recital, you shouldn't be reading off of any music either.
@mrawesome425 My aunt asked me to sing this song for her wedding. I agree I wasn't prepared to do something of this nature at only 19, but she wanted it sung at her wedding, so I decided to do it at my recital to let her hear how it would sound.
Just because you can sing the Notes doesnt mean you can sing Puccini, friend. I rather lose respect for a voice teacher that would have a new voice student sing a Puccini aria... Pronunciation wasnt there, and the support and vocal development I just find lacking. Tonally, you know the notes, but this is not a song you should be singing. By singing it, you are risking vocal damage. Incorrectly sung Operatic works are VERY taxing and damaging to the voice.
Good job, Sam... As some of the comments below correctly (though not always politely) indicate, you need to decide if you're going with opera or not. Have you decided yet? I know it's only been a year...
If it's opera for you I would recommend--as you sound like a leggiero tenor to me-- lighter works like The Barber of Seville, or some Donizetti or Mozart, over the Puccini roles. At least for now...your voice may darken as you get older (like me ;P)
Jesus, watch that italian pronunciation!!! How can you sing an italian aria without the basics of italian, such as NO AMERICAN "R"s!!! And if you're aiming at operatic singing, stop sounding like a cheap pop singer!
Still have a long way to go, my friend, and I see some potential but that's not nearly enough. Wish you the best of lucks.
I got asked to do this with the band at my college we lowered it a half step. So I just do the b-flat. I really like how you go up to your high range. At 2:17 did the piano mess up or jus a wrong note? Sounded funky ha...But overall think you did great. I hope to record mine and post up up here. by like mid october.
upper range nees work, but that will come with your times and lessons. Nessun Dorma is written for a vice that is much more mature. Great attempt and the potential that you have is incredible. Good Luck with the future. Pronunciation as well work on that and you can go places. I think you should try is I'll sail upon the Dog Star by Henry Purcell. It will help you on getting a beautiful sound thoughout your whole range. And it is melismatic and will help connect every tone.keepitupnicejob

@smBTVS1700 Honestly I still think you did a great job.
Most men can't pull off a song like this. Regardless whether you rolled your r's or not.

@farc300 Agreeable. I think maybe the hateful people are a bit jealous of his beautiful voice.

Not to be rude.. but dont understand why you would sing such an ambitious piece at your age. You had a very nice B at the end though

Far too young...sorry...you should have sung the rest of the song like you sang the B, supported and resonant.
