  • Good Japp is inthis one so Hastings and Miss Lemon should be.

  • Thanks for the upload! :-) .... Although, it's typical for the producers of the movie to slightly alter the story for no reason. In the book "Hercule Poirot's Christmas", the victim is clobbered over the head. But here in the movie version, the victim's throat is cut.

  • @johnsmith2046 Wait, which book did you read? In the book I read Simeon Lee had his throat cut. Lots of blood. He was not clobbered over the head.

  • so much Illuminati at the beginning 00:47 - 00:50

  • You are a genius. Thank you.

  • love the art deco font and intro graphics

  • does anyone remember Dr.Watson w/Sherlock Holmes? he was wonderful, and so is Hastings for Poirot....love Hastings.

  • In the stories I've read, Hastings barely exists as a character. He's the narrator's voice, and an occasional person for Poirot to be smarter than. Other than that, I barely know what he would look like, much less what kind of a man he would be. This series really created the character from scratch, much like they did with Miss Lemon. I have to say, I much appreciate Miss Lemon over Hastings. And yes, I know there are a lot of Hastings fans out there - don't hate me, it's just a matter of taste

  • @JonFrumTheFirst I am not a Hastings fan. He just seems like someone for Priot to throw his possibilities at but other than that he seems too much a fool to me. He's like Priot's child most of the time. You put it exactly. "An occasional person for Poirot to be smarter than." I just watched a couple without him and I liked them very much but I have to say, he seemed lonely. Hastings certainly is faithful but a costly friend I would think.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for your Herc/Poir uploads!!! So glad I found your channel... I'm a new loyal fan, subbed!!! :) Thanks again :)

  • i feel bad for her :(

  • The actress who plays Lydia plays Cissy Meldrum in You rang M'lord :) also a nice character

  • I was confused by the title because the book is called A holiday for murder

  • how do the books compare? tell me!

  • is that colonel klink from hogan's heroes?

  • I, for one, adore Hastings. Not only, does he add a little bit of levity, especially in the way he mocks Poirot's egotistical ways, but he's a gentleman, in every respect. I think his character prefers to see the good in people, where Poirot is always a bit suspicious. I certainly don't think he's useless.

  • Raven, Thanks again.

  • Hastings hasnt been cut out of the show, he wasnt featured in this particular book- so he's not in the episode...........

  • @skooCh87 Thank goodness.

  • @lollipopfop

    Actually, after some research,

Hasting was only in about 8 of the Poirot novels.....................

So thats why there are episodes without him

  • @skooCh87 And thank God for that!! I must say he is exceedingly trying my patience! I know there are people who like him very much, and of course I do respect this - it is a matter of taste, surely. But I do not like his character.

  • @skooCh87 for the TV sries they made the 1989-2002 episodes with poirot being helped by hastings, japp and miss lemon - adding them where they weren't written in the novels. after that, they replaced hastings and miss lemon with the valet, george - and ariadne oliver is sometimes used, and some recurring inspectors, but none as recurring as japp

  • @skooCh87 Yes, but a lot of the short stories include Hastings, so most of the short story episodes have him. After all the short stories (and novels) with Hastings were filmed, they started putting him in episodes of novels where he was not supposed to be (which, in my opinion, didn't work very well), and after that, they just completely stopped including him in the episodes.

  • Thank you, Ravenhaven14, for all of your uploads. So much work on your part, but gives us all so much pleasure. Bless you!

  • Thank you so much for posting!

  • thank you so much for uploading this videos for us!

  • In Afrikaans. Zeer interessant.

  • @thisherecat indeed, but the pronounciation is completely ridiculous. but its a good try nonetheless.

  • Finally, I have been looking for this one ever since I read the book! And I agree with LilJazzer1, Hastings is great and provides plenty of laughs!

  • Either Hercule Poirot's Christmas (Which is what Christie named it), Murder for Christmas, or A Holiday for Murder,

  • Ive been looking for this vid for a long time. i didnt expect it to be under a different name

  • @SuperMusic18 what is the original name of this episode as written by Agatha Christie in her Poirot series?

  • @HAZIDEAD On the contrary, in my opinion Hastings is a great addition to the episodes and is not useless in any manner. His hat in marvelous aswell!

  • @LilJazzer1 I could not agree with you more, bring back Hasting.

  • @LilJazzer1 I agree. Hastings is not only a great friend to Mr. Poirot, but he is aslo curragious in the fact that he will risk his own life for Poirot. He in contrast to Poirot uses his muscles to do the talking and to get his point accross, where as Poirot uses his brain. Poirot lies and uses deception to get people to talk and to find the underlying clues where Hastings thinks it is not right to do so. Plus, Hastings stumbles upon clues that Poirot misses. He views the crimes from the viewer

  • @lollipopfop No reason to be a hater. Just say you don't like him & respect that other people do.

  • @lollipopfop No reason to be a hater. Just say you don't like him & respect that other people do.

  • @LilJazzer1 Hazidead always makes annoying comments

  • @LilJazzer1 i say!!

  • Raven, thanks greatly for these episodes. These longer ones - were they on TV too? I note that useless Hastings isn't in them and that's a great relief...

  • ポワロのクリスマス

  • thank you this is one of the very best.

  • This is the very first Poirot I had ever seen. This is the beginning of my addition. lol . Thanks

  • I really love this one, i have read the book very long ago when i was only 14 yo but the story still haunts me. thanks raven for sharing these gems with us.
