i think ima get a MS6 as a daily. the T/A is getting too many miles on it too fast. these cars look like they are fun to drive. can anyone tell me what the mpg is and if they all come factory turbo?
the description of this vid is weird...i thought the ms6 won the freeway runs..but the description says otherwise...ms6 only has an intake for power while the s4 has all that shit plus a chip..wtf?
im a ms6 owner and personally i would prefer to have a b5....u cant go wrong with with a 2.7l v6 with twin :)...a chip exhaust cai and maybe a fmic and a good tune would put u around 360 ponies.... now thats damn fast if u ask me.....but fining one with less than 40K is impossible!
you must be joking? The B5 S4 with good mods can be damn fast. I've personally driven both and the S4 has a better feel to it and I honestly liked the interior better as well.
the mazda gets much better mileage and has more room. unfair race though, need to be mod for mod to realize which is quicker. mod for mod i think the ms6 would snipe the s4.
I too own a Mazdaspeed6 and I like it alot. I drive it hard beat it a bit and have not had one single issue with this car. I know alot of people that tell me "their Mazda 3, Mazda 6", has all kinds of problems, like bad transmisions, engine problems and so on, and they hate them. Then I have to explain to them that "their Mazda" was made in the USA and the Mazdaspeeds are made in Japan. They have different transmisions and different engines. not the the same kind of car.
the only problem i have really had with this car was the rear diff mount sheering bolts out, but after i got the factory upgrade i havent had that problem again. something recent i have encountered, now that it is hella cold. the stock battery doesnt have enough cold cranking amps or something, but the car looses its charge and isnt starting. but thats a small thing i keep a jumper box in the back for some reason. but i have been driving it hard for 3 years, track days and all. still no problem.
What did they do to fix your sheering bolts problem, it happend to me on my speed 6 3 weeks ago and they replaced the housing and bolts and called it good. last week the bolts literally just came out of the housing and brought some of the threading with them... so i was curious what they did to yours

It is driven fast everywhere it goes, and this was also my first manual car, so it DEFINITELY got abused at one point. I am waiting for my 30somethingk miles service and am then going to start bolting on.
fun car, nice daily driver... nothing i would dump money into. end of story. i get great gas mileage, i can put it on the racetrack and run some fast laps without worrying about anything, and i can drive it home packed with a ton of friends, and equipment. everyone can debate between the 2, but they both have attributes that attract buyers. i happened to like the mazda, so i purchased it.
1st off, Chipped S4's run low to mid 13's @ 102-4mph. (watch my video)
2nd, the b5 S4 cost about 28-30k when the
Mazdaspeed 6 debuted. (ms6's are still about 5-10k more used than S4's)
3rd, S4 motors can handle 500hp before you need to do rods, bearings etc. the stock turbos cannot make enough power to pop the 2.7T (early S4's had tranny issues, later resolved)
Ms6's and b5 s4's are both great cars IMO. If I had to choose again, I'd pick the S4 for its tuneability and luxury car feel.
Its nice to know these cars can keep up good with S4s, at least the older models. They will walk all over A4s (as I've raced plenty) and probably get beat buy the newer S4s, and would never touch an RS4 without heavy modding. I want to buy an RS4 once I pay off the 6 next year.
@yunglex Actually that's not a misconception. Only the 06 Mazdaspeed6 had a rear differential problem, they used to break, the 07's didn't have that problem much, mazda definitely did look into it (thank god) but there was a problem. As far as inferior, I'm not so sure about that, i've driven german cars before and they're nice, but the Japanese cars are becoming better with build quality.
My speed6 has 24k miles, I'm still waiting for the tranny to break AND the differential, sorry to bust your bubble. A chipped S4 doesn't do 12s easily, they need more mods than that, I would know from experience, as my friend's shop works on german cars (mostly bimmer benz audi & VW, with the occasional porsche). He's done quite a few S4s, it'll hit 12s if you put the chip's tune to the point it'll blow the engine after a few runs, sure. FMIC, CAI, TBE, will get a speed6 into the high mid 12s.
your car gets better mpg, its msrp is 12k less, it has less mods, you're a big boy no homo (total curb wgt "3850lbs"), its got =/+ luxuries, its cheaper to fix (-tires) and NO ONE knows they're about to get shit on when they roll up in their VTEC grillin. you made a good choice. we all made a good choice.

Wait for that MS6 to break the tranny, destroy the differential within 10k miles.
As far as the S4, either the driver couldn't launch it or smth doesnt make sense. A chipped S4 does 11-12s easily.
Also you can't compare the cheap plastic interior of mazda with Audi, sorry but Germans build quality cars thus that $12k.
BTW, i never heard Mazda using VTEC? I know they use VRIS in their intake manifolds (thank you Porsche for the idea)

i think you are kinda mistaken... or you have a common misconception that all german fan boys do.
that car will not do easily 12's or it would be doing it. that car is chipped intercooled, and all...
my car wont break the tranny, just the rear diff mount.. all under a very good powertrain warranty. so nothing to worry about.

Theres no way that S4 is chipped.
If it was, and had that other stuff on it like exhaust, intake and Pipes, it would be at 350+ hp at the wheels.
The mazda isnt within 40hp of that.
and its got less torque, and the driver is bigger. so its not like its much lighter than the S4.
My Chipped S4 would eat that Mazda's Lunch
