  • no matter how many plates u got on the bar, if u cheat u are lifting lighter, because ur using the momentum u created using other muscles, in this case the legs and the arms. he still is strong, and he still does lift very heavier than many ppl here, but the point is not to show off how many plates you can put on. no need for hate, just training lighter with good form is the same as training heavier with bad form. and i just got back from doing shrugs.

  • @k9r100 he superset'd 3-4 shoulder exerises w/405lbs...he had good shoulder elevation, natural bend at the elbows and his heels stayed on the ground...i dont think he was doing to show off, he was doing it cuz he could do it, he's clearly strong enough to and he had good from, except towards the end when he was doing reverse shrugs, but thats to be expected.

  • Ok this is a serious comment: I can't comfortably perform shoulder shrugs with a barbell because as I pull the bar up it rolls past my penis and testicles. Can be painful but mostly just a small irritation.

    Should I lean forward a small bit?

  • @CheorkeeXP no you just dont need to do this exercise. People who look like this guy have small penises that theyre compensating for allowing them to easily roll a metal bar across their pubic area without injuring the genitalia.

  • @CheorkeeXP Try doing the shrugs on the smith machine. that way you can alter your stance to accomodate that same issue alot of guys deal with. I take it youre pretty tall w longer arms? Smith is the way to go, and do it reverse grip. as long as your ass isnt that big, you'll blast the shit outta them traps and man, you wont hit your junk at all. peace. (alot of weight, for alot of reps.)

  • @SESbb30 Other than being in a more neutral position using dumbbells, you can handle more weight using a barbell. Thats usually the case when comparing dumbbells to barbells

  • @radical228 not really, it works forearms more then triceps, cause your using ur forearms to grip the weight, but triceps just tense because theres a force making ur arms go straight. Good question tho.

  • totally agree dude, if your in competition the judges don't count half-way stuff. where i work out you'll catch grief if ya don't do it right. alot of us compete at powerlifting comps at virginia tech.

    i train 3-4 years without a "break" good meals etc. i can do 180kg 4x but the last time when i did it my back hurts i think i should take less weight.

  • @HeavilyArmoR3D Actually it is about the range of motion. Your biceps are only strong through a 90 degree range off motion if you only do 90 degree curls...

  • @HeavilyArmoR3D if u dont use full ROM and keep doing the move like that, the muscle will look funny when developed after few months. idiot he does have mass but it looks weird. when doing the exercise, he only gets the weight up half way, which is why his neck area is alot smaller than the trap area around his shoulders

  • i can do that with 661 pounds and my bodyweight is 141 pounds. And i dont take steroids, is all kust a matter or grip. This execice has a low range of motion so is easy to do with lots of weight

  • u werent lifting the weight up with ur traps.... u just lifted it off the stand and attempted to lift it. the only good lifts were the first set, evrything else wasnt a complete lift....all you were doing was lifting it off the stand lol

  • I notice that it kind of forces you to use better form keeping your shoulders back and your back straight. I usually use an alternate grip same as I would doing deadlifts when I do my barbell shrugs.

  • That looks like a great super-set for the traps. For the past 2 years I've been doing at least one shrug variation in my routine, and it seems that higher reps and a lot of volume and frequency can work well for trapezius/neck musculature. I'm definitly going to give this a shot...how many sets of this super-set are recommended?
