To be correct: In the whole history of China (you can either begin in Qin- or earlier Xia-Dynasty) the territory of China was changing. Do you even know where is China? Have you ever been to China? I have never met a westerner whose mind is still staying in the 60s after a visit to China.
There are issues in China, loads of issues. You can spend your energy on some of them and make a real difference to the everyday life of Chinese people.
In my opinion, economic development is the key to solve Tibet issue. The only pro-Tibet Chinese that I met all came from Shanghai, the richest part of China. Think about it.

I am not from the West, and I speak 7 languages including Mandarin and Taiwanese. I lived in Shanghai for 3 years, Hong Kong for one year, and I am now studying and teaching in Taiwan. You do not listen. I do not say tibet is an independent country. Infact it is not because China took it back 1949. To be correct: In the whole history of China (you can either begin in Qin- or earlier Xia-Dynasty) the territory of China was changing. Right now Tibet is part of the PRC since it was taken by force (or freed if you like to call it this way). I only find it annoying to discuss about territorial problems of political powers. What I said was not anti-chinese but anti-CP....
