I prefer to see what I have and the see what I can do out of it. It's a lot more creative ad more ecological than go out and buy some Chinese cheap stuff. But the idea is good!

@Yamila74 Actually what they used to do was buy things from Goodwill, which is ecological and fun, because you are recycling clothes somebody gave away and are reducing pollution from the factories that make new clothing. ^^ It's great to buy at thrift stores, and if we all used your method, we eventually would have no clothing at all because everything would have been turned into bags or decor, or what not. XD

I found that tote pattern and well i think its best to use the same fabric for the outside or you will have half the pattern on the left side and a different pattern on the right.

Really anything you might use a sewing mechine with, you could hand sew, it takes a bit more time, but with some practice it can be just as good as mechine done.

Very cool ideas!! I recently saw a couple videos on Greenwala that shows you how to make handbags from old books or plastic bags. I haven't tried this yet but I will soon! It also makes a great gift to make for some friends, especially if your on a budget.

Made a bag similar to this except bigger. It is very light weight. With 2 kids lots of stuff accumulates. I saw leather bags, wtih fancy gold and metal hardware on it. They were beautiful, expensive and heavy. I would probaby get back and shoulder pain soon totting those around for long. For a lightweight roomy purse this is the way to go. I have gotten more complements on my handmade bags then anytthing I bought. I will probaby never buy a ready-made one again.

so, i cant post a vid or pix b/c i dont have a camera, but i'm making a purse out of the film "tale of desperox" i go from my job ( a movie theater)

i cut the film into a little over 2 foot incriments and am weaving hemp though the little holes on the side to secure it. this film reel has enough film to make a few bags, so i think i'll make a few with matching wallets ^_^

You could get some acrylic paint and some stamps and decorate it. The Video for DIY Gift Wrapping shows you how to make a potatoe stamp. If you don't want to do that, you could always put patches, buttons, studs, or jewelry all over it to makea n awesome pattern! Hope this helps you in your quest for a rad bag!
