whats the best sounding exhaust for a mustang I was looking into flow maasters but the cops where I live are very old and enforce distubing the peace more than anything else.So those things are waay to loud. I just want something with a strong sound but can be quiet with a low rev
A little farther down in the comments you'll see I thought it was a FRPP "GTA" muffler; I found out it was a GT takeoff muffler.
Later I put on the FRPP dual setup with FRPP GTAs. Click my username "fsheff0" to access the same kind of demo video.
I now have a GT/CS coupe with manual trans and a GT/CS convertible with automatic. In similar circumstances, the automatic is a tenth of a second quicker in the eighth-mile, so far.
@fsheff0 well autos for sure will hit gears quicker if you dont know how to shift in a manual, i have on multiple accounts smoked out autos but i i have just as many times missed shifts or hung too long between gears or messed up a launch, IMO whatever trans you have is up to you, its how you build the car that matters
well apart the fact that shows you cannot stand anything difficult do you realy think with automatic that you get the full potential of the car???apart from the limiters
You do realize that some cars are actually faster automatic than stick....
If you had a supercharger, AT will keep pushing the power so unless you can physically shift faster than the cars AT transmission...well you get the point.
Belgvr, have you ever been on a circuit race? do you even KNOW the diffrence of driving a automatic and a stick? When you drive a stick, you have to worry about your speed, when to shift, when to stop and make sure to balance out the RPM's so your car dosnt redline and blow the engine. You have to know what gear to put it in, every turn, AND you have to keep your eye on the road and around you. In a auto, you just have to use your right foot to stop and go....
@DarkHour404 Friend, i didn't talk about performance... i do know the difference of driving a auto and a manual but i like AUTO because of the comfort, i'm not a racer, so i don't need a manual... BUT i have a volkswagen Santana we bought in 1996, and it's manual.. does that mean that i hate this car? NO... but who likes to get tired of stepping on the clutch, put on 1st, then clutch again, 2nd, now stop, clutch, brake, back to 1st, 2nd, etc.. i want conmfort... i want to step on the gas and GO
i think a manual transmission is better for sport cars. It gives it soul and makes you feel like a beast when your shifting 200+ HP. Automatics are for teenage chicks. You just put the car in drive and step on the gas. No skill at all.
if you look at alot of drag cars, most of them are automatics with stall converter's. so you cant exactly say and automatic is for a teenage girl. an automatic is alot more preditable with shift points and can be tuned alot better thats why they are used in most drag cars...
but in a street car or street racing theres nothing wrong with an automatic with a few simple adj and a couple hundered bucks in a tuner an automatic can be alot more reliable & all around alot better than a stick espially when sitting in traffic not having to operate a clutch and shift then being able to stomp the gas w/o havin to worry about killin the car gurantee if i had a stock S197 v6 against me and my automatic there is no way it would stand a chance & performance wise i only have a tune
yes manuals are more fun and but doesnt make then better.. but when it comes to just making ure car look good for a show it doesnt matter..and racing well we will see how long u can keep up when u miss a shift with ure manual.
can anybody out there tell me why you would HAVE to buy a V6 mustang over a V8 Mustang GT???
i am looking for a real answer and not some gas saving BS cause trust me... you arent saving gas. especially if you are putting aftermarket performance parts on it.
anybody out there, please stop my suffering. i need to see some points from the other side. this is a serious post; i really want to know.
you can also call 1-800-V6-TRASH to help with my misery.
I am informed by reliable sources that the muffler is actually a GT takeoff, not the GTA. I guess I missed some cues when the seller posted his auction info. Now I know what a GTA looks like, and this isn't it. Still works and sounds good, but I don't like being fooled. Ah, well; live and learn.
Turns out I was hoodwinked and the exhaust you heard was a simple GT takeoff muffler.
I just put on the FRPP M-5230-V6 dual exhaust setup. Looks as if it'll take some getting-used-to. Big boom node at low-load and 1000 rpm. Otherwise pretty crisp. Maybe even a little ricey at wide open throttle mid-range.
I'll see if I can get some video comparable to the on-the-road It may be a while.
i gots mine for a very good price, $16,975 online. Its got the interior upgrade package and everything. Everything is in like mint condition. I believe someone leased it for maybe like a year or less. But in all it's a freakin sweet ride. Too whats funny is I look at the 2008 mustangs with the same things in it but it cost lots more, like $20,000 and up. Oh yea mines a 2006. Blue with white racing stripes too.
Just the FRPP M-5230-GTA axle-back muffler on the single exhaust, and a K&N drop-in air filter. Since the videos were made I added the b@m@chips 91 octane performance tune. Sounds a bit punchier.

Frank, So that IS a GT take-off? Sure sounds good to me. Wonder if the FRPP would sound that much different? I especially like the way you took your video. Much more definitive than a static cam/car setup. Thanks for the vid!
on city streets the interior gets pretty loud until 3rd gear just from the engine lol

The first one was a single pipe (as was the "dyno pulls" video). The others are duals (in the dark with the V6, otherwise with the V8.

Automatic's are faster going straight......no need to rev higher for slowing down on corners and no lag time/burnouts between shifts.
