You should substitute water little by little though the situation cannot be understood here if

the bacillus is in the water tank.

And, the medicine that suppresses a small amount of (The axolotl is very weak to the

medicine) bacillus is mixed.

At that time, you should not supply food to them.

i got an axolotl a few days ago

and he's not eating the pellets im giving him :(

he's a bit sick from a fungus on his tail

(ive had the fungus checked & its fine)

Water dogs are a type of tiger salamander, but you're close, tiger salamanders are very simular to axolotls except most of them metamorphose whilst most axolotls don't, there isn't much difference otherwise, they are considered seperate species though.

Waterdogs are tiger salamanders that don't metamorphose.
