  • You who built the unit midi? Or this unit is a specific manufacturer? Could you tell me the model of this unit?

  • Nice watching your creation!

Recently bought used digital drums and like to see what you have made!

  • genial sr! but how did you make the hh and snare switch works thats great i could`t!

  • that was brilliant. im going to make meself one of meown.

  • Guaooooooooooooooooooooo you are a genius!!!!

  • damn thats cool...hahaha jew! im kidding of course

  • cool

  • I like your´s drumms set

  • Dror, did you make the midi prossesor on your own or you bought it?

You see, i can make the e-drums, but i cannot find any drum modules or midi converter. If you see this , please answer. Thank you!

  • @mragw As far as I can see, Dror uses eDrum Midi Trigger

    (edrum.info)

which is a bit outdated. I would recommend Megadrum.

    (megadrum.info)

which is a DIY project with great features and it is updated in a regular basis. You can see me using it here

  • @nkgr01 Thank you for the information

  • Wow.. That CRAZY!

  • instead of having all the trouble on making this, why not just buy a real edrums. there are a lot of cheap ones.. im just saying..

  • funny voice but nice vid

  • Great job.

    God bless.

  • Great work brother. Thanks for sharing. Shalom.

  • I am interested in your drum controller, did you build that yourself? by the way: very impressive!

  • witch sensors are these?

  • @snapie90 piezoelectric sensors

  • i have never seen a drum set like that that is cool where did u get it?

  • why is the foam needed?

  • wow thats super, defenetly inspires me to make one in future =P

  • This must be a pain in the ass to move it out :P

  • great!

  • Very well built! Such a nice compact design...

You made it with PVC pipes for weight or portability?

How did you build the module? Does it need the organ to work?

  • Amazing

  • epic man !!!

  • hi dror .is there a dowloadable module or software module for drums?

  • שמע איש אתה גדול

    עבודה מדהימה ומסודרת

אשמח להתייעץ איתך אם יש לך פנאי לכמה שאלות

    תודה

    nirniro1@walla.co.il

  • Two questions, how much did this cost you to make? Also, do you not find the actual sound of sticks on these pads distracing?

  • hi man. brilliant design and work. i have an idea i want to try..id like to know what you think though ok..

i want to buy a cheap midi keyboard and solder the transducers to the keys(internally) that are assigned to my midi drums (sr16)...so that they can be touch sensitive....

by way of a serial lead out of the keyboard to the transducers (pads)...

do you think this would work ok....i trigger my drums from the keys at the moment

and they are fine, but i want to build an actual kit to hit..rob

  • Can I pay you to make something?

  • Hi, my name is Paul. I really like this setup, have you sold these?

I have a few simple ideas that could use your skills if you'd be interested. I'd be willing to pay you to make a few of these products. Let me know, thanks..

  • sir, how did you convert the signal into a sound? are you using a sound module? if you create your own sound module (sound bank) how did you convert it to MIDI...

  • Superb!

  • the albert einstein of diy sets hahaha

  • what a dude..brilliant..

  • Nice! Eventually I'll buy five practice pads and make my own DIY set, but this is just amazing!

  • This is an amazing kit! do you think you could tell me a little more detailed how the pads are made? Thanks a bunch!

  • Awesome!

  • you can see the sets inside rofl, nice one dude.

  • Dude how much did the insides cost?

    (The sensors and that stuff...)

  • MAN!!! That is glean!

  • this is incredibly cool!

  • this fk*** hilarious

  • Also, did you use Megadrum as your controller? And where can we find more information on your pad design?

  • Haha. Great set, and very clean work. I think it's hilarious how you have the organ built in. Did you put the organ in there because you didn't use it anymore?

  • damn nigga u crazy n shit

  • Amazing o.O

  • sounds like bioshock music in the background

  • its called jazz.

  • can you make a video on how you made the drum heads

  • Feel sorry for your garbageman

  • that's great man, very nice job.

  • pedaal! lool

  • wow this is amazing

  • ur a genius

  • I'd say it's got a rubber cover over it..would still be weird but fuck it's cool!

  • Really cool!

  • respect!

  • Awesome kit, I especially like the pad design. I want to build something similar to this, but I was wondering how much making all the pads cost you?

  • Great job man!

Do you have something like instructables on how to make the drums?

  • what an incredible ammount of work! I know many who have built their own pads, but few drummers who have built their own drum brain. Good job.

  • Grandpa got good equipment but Nika is better

  • you mean fake as in.. its not really an acoustic drum set? because other than that I don't know what you're talking about. I can see from the video there is indeed a DIY electronic drum set there.. Its not a figment of his imagination.

  • How much did it cost to build it?

    It's AMAZING!!!

  • wow...your amazing...

I'm going to build one just like yours...but using keybord as a switch to play drummania...on PC

  • This is absolutely brilliant. \m/

  • Amazing work dude, you are a genius!!

  • I salute you, sir. This is amazing

  • @DangerousDrummerDado here here.

  • this is probebleys the best diy kit ive seen brilliant design you really took your time with this great job

  • i have those pedals ha XD

  • how much?

  • this is realy awesome!

    nice idea! :)

  • you must be a genius superb work congrats

  • drum on it!!!

  • Fantastic project. I'm impressed. I wander if you could use a can with stretched fabric, instead of rubber pads. It could give better feedback. V-Drums from Roland feel pretty nice...

  • hey i am really interesting for learning how i can do just one pad,, as simple as possible,, can u guide me to some infos on internet plz

  • This is awesome man. YOu need to preset this idea to Yamaha or Roland.

  • yeah cool

  • are piezo transducers velocity sensitive?

  • yep

  • yep they are ive opend one of my trigger and there it was a piezo

  • dam dude u shud make a vid on how to make it or sumthin....

  • Very nice work. I have constructed a smaller, but similar kit to yours. Is your piezo mounted between to pieces of wood? It appears there is a smaller piece of wood on the bottom side of the top piece. Is this correct?

  • Hi, very nice work. :) Did you program the microcontroller yourself? How do you sample so many channels? :)

  • fantastic, i'm building my own set and was considering pvc for a frame. The wood blocks and switches are genius.

  • hello Dror,i love the diy kit.would it be possable to send my the dimentions and what kind of pvc joints you used to construct the rack? thank you verry much

  • What can I say, congratulations for that project..! Really its awesome..! Great mind..!

  • Awesome dude!

  • Hello Dror, I loved you drumkit. Very well done! I´m trying to build one pretty much like yours. I just have a few questions about the electronics. Which processor are you using and what type on A/D converters?? If you have any schematics or something, I would really appreciate. I´m an electrical eng. myself, so any iformation you could send me can be very helpful. Thank you, Marcello

  • did he ever send you a schematics? I would also love to know what type of CPU and A/D converters he is using!

  • Actually I found something called Megadrum wich is a page that gives you the schematics of a 32 input drum controler base on the Atmega processor. Google it, and there should be most of the information you need

  • wonderful kit, i wish i had the space and money to build one, fantastic job and nice playing on your other videos as well

  • sweet

i hope i can start soon

  • I wish I was smart enough to make my own DIY drum set.

  • try lowes

  • Hi,

I get all the PVC pipes in big construction store, but due to that i am from ISRAEL i can onlly advise you to serch in US at HOME DEPOT or stors like this that sell construction parts.

    Dror,

  • Much better kit is to take a Remo practice pad. Between the molded plastic body and the head put a cheap radio shack piezo transducer and mount it on a small metal plate the size and thickness of a coffee can top.Put that in between the head and the pad body. Then just wire it up and your good to go. Just as good as any $200 mesh head and the touch sensitivity is GREAT. Feels real, sounds real and is dirt cheap. Easy to mount since the Remo comes with standard mounting equip.

  • Dror, do you glue the piezo sensor to the wood or the foam?

    Jasper

  • Hi Jasper,

The piezo sensor is glue at the inner side of the wood plate at the center on small rubber piece ( in order to lower hard hits on the sensor), the yellow fome that you see is only to cover the sensor from dust,

    Dror,

  • Ok, so if I understand correctly, the piezo sensor is not glued "sandwitched" between the wood and the rubber that you hit on right? Starting from the rubber surface you hit on with the drum sticks it is, (1) the rubber pad you hit on, then (2) the wood plate, then (3) the piezo sensor glued to center on back of wood plate, then small piece of foam behind the piezo to protect it from dust, correct? Thanks for all the help Dror :) I can't believe you even built the midi box too! amazing!

  • Dror--I agree---building drums in this fashion is good for the soul. You have done and excellent job, and have inspired me to begin my first completely DIY kit. I have two commercial drum modules, and some wood in my garage. Thank you!

    John

  • John,

I wish you great fun and good work in your

Decision to build your first DIY kit, you Will see that you enjoy each moment and at last to play on it, If you will need some quetions i will try to help,

    Dror,

  • Dror, can you email me in private, I'm so thrilled to have seen your video and have many questions since I'm new at this and want to make my own electronic drums. I have already ordered the piezoelectric sensors and would like some advice from you like did you glue the sensors to the wood plank or the rubber? Thanks, Gracindo

  • looks to me it might have been a bit cheaper to just buy an electronic drum kit

  • Hi Nick,

No, it will not be more cheaper due to That

The price of basic drum kit alon WITHOUT - AMP and SPEAKERs system all the spcial things and upgrades that incloude in this KIT will cost more then all the parts that i have,

If you pay attantion to my tutorial you will notice that i use 22 CHs and i have more drums and sounds then a basic drum kit.

But the main thing in building this kit is the great fun of new design, upgrades, get out of the box with new idias, and for the soul.

  • yeah but this one looks cooler

  • Wow! Would love to hear you JAM on them! Play em dude!

  • woooooooooow

    just... superlative

  • brilliant!

  • nice diy drum kit.

I just bought an alesis dm5 and I intend

to build my own drumkit too.

    cheers

    alessandro

  • That is awesome, kol hakavod!

  • thanks, all this help me a lot to my proyect

now my problem is find out the piezo element

here in monterrey mexico is very difficult get it, please show how install them, one question more.. could connect two piezos in one line, (two drums to same input to midi control unit) thanks again.

  • Musicmastaent, check his other videos

I've bugged him with some questions you may already want to know

    DrumDror3000,

Thank you so much for the tour.

You showed me about everything I need to know except for the piezo setup. It's hard to see inside you're pad.

I have a suggestion for you're next video. Show how you place the piezo on one of you're new pads in the coming weeks.

You have done an awesome job, brilliant switch idea on the snare.Keep up the good work and thanks again.

    Off to build.

  • Hi,

I happy to see that the tour information help you,

Ok, i will shoot the video of the new pads so you can see how it install,

    Thanks Dror,

  • Did you build the interface for the drums; if so how

  • Hi,

I understand that you meen to the MIDI control unit,

Yes i build it, i hade this spcial ABS box at my home and its size was perfect for this project, i design the front aluminume panel for all the trimers / LEDs / Display,,

i saperat the analog input electronic board from the Digital board in order to save lot of wires to the trimers, in this case as you see all the trimers are on the analog board,

The only wires are for the input sockets,

This is from ADMIR diy drums,

    Thanks Dror,
