Evolution doesn't disprove God so there is no reason why the bible would major on it. It's a hemoglobin, the iron-containing respiratory pigment IN red blood cellls of vertebrates, consisting of about 6 percent heme and 94 percent globin. I think it's time you know the truth. The tricky thing about researching the findings is that the popular media hyped it up and misrepresented it (since most journalists aren't molecular biologists). As far as it being soft tissue, Some of it's been identified as bacterial film, the rest may be the same, I know the skin that was found on another dinosaur (fossilized skin), nor the blood (wasn't actually any blood anywhere), nor any of the other erroneous claims are true.
@lordlandraid The thing with previous generations of paleontologists is that they generally just had degrees in geology (or maybe zoology) so they mostly studied the basic morphology of fossil remains (namely, bones, teeth, shells). Schweitzer has a background in molecular biology, and does things "old school" paleontologists normally wouldn't think to do (like cut up a T. rex femur and dissolve it in acid). Her research simply shows that we still have a lot to learn about fossilization.

@lordlandraid What's really funny about Schweitzer's research is how damaging it actually is to creationism. A T. rex femur was discovered to contain medullary bone -- previously found only in birds. Amino acid sequencing of dinosaur collagen found also showed similarities to that of chickens. It's just more evidence of dinosaur-bird evolution.

If you actually read the person research and response about this you'd learn alot. The woman who did this research is a Christian, she however is shocked at the way Christians are taking this. She said that people are misinterpreting her work. The fact is that this now, most researchers believed that soft tissue decayed rapidly. This new find proves it doesn't. The reason it was a popular belief is because no one ever thought to dissolve a bone they just dug up and test it.
I think you missed the point of this whole video that you typed phrases on. The "soft" tissue (after it was treated with acid) does not tell the age of the fossils. This new discovery does not change the ages of any of the specimens.

Schweitzer et al. did not find hemoglobin or red blood cells. They found evidence of degraded hemoglobin fragments and structures that might represent altered blood remnants. See (Schweitzer and Horner 1999; Schweitzer and Staedter 1997; Schweitzer et al. 1997a, 1997b).
What irritates me about creation scientists (especially the young earth believers) is that they are at once arrogant and ignorant, empirical only when it suits them. They scream "Aha! This may be perceived by Young Earth believers as evidence that dinosaurs lived in the same era as humans, but that reasoning is an an example of a conclusion driving evidence instead of evidence driving a conclusion. There are several possible conclusions we can make from this particular discovery, but concluding it PROVES young Earth theory, violates the totality of what we have learned from careful observation.

@csadler i am no christian, but what the bible is, is a book of stories intended to teach the humans hundreds of years ago morality, this is something i cannot deny.
but to take it as absolute truth/fact should not be done. it is an ancient text that has been edited and translated through out the ages and written in a time where verifiable facts and observations of the world was not widely known or done.
I love how you guys prove the amazing works of God. No matter what you guys prove, you'll never prove God isn't real. Just look around you. This is coincidence?
There's a lot of folks out there, among them very good scientists, who have met God and know God. The details of everything else are not that all that easy to fit together.
Um so that was just a scientific video with side notes about the bible. What is your point? There are any number of explanations for preservation of organic material, especially since they were all found in the same area.
science is all about the 'i can prove (dinosaurs) exist because...'

Evolution doesn't disprove God so there is no reason why the bible would major on it. It's a hemoglobin, the iron-containing respiratory pigment IN red blood cellls of vertebrates, consisting of about 6 percent heme and 94 percent globin. I think it's time you know the truth. @wisefreethinker242 Schweitzer's paper (which you have obviously not read) describes "heme-containing compounds and/or hemoglobin breakdown products in extracts of trabecular tissues of the large theropod dinosaur Tyrannosaurus rex," which, while fascinating, is not the same as red blood cells, or even hemoglobin.
I suggest reading the paper. If you can't handle that, Jack Horner has written a book titled "How to Build a Dinosaur." For now, there's this video:

@wisefreethinker242 At about 2:44, Schweitzer describes her finding as "little round red structures" "inside the channels where the blood vessels would have run." The paper I mentioned (written by her) gives more details, as does the book (written by one of her colleagues).

@lordlandraid Some of the "soft tissue" found turned out to be bacterial film, but aside from that, the findings really haven't been "debunked." The tricky thing about researching the findings is that the popular media hyped it up and misrepresented it (since most journalists aren't molecular biologists). And of course the internet is full of creationist B.S.
For a non-professional scientist such as myself (and, presumably, yourself), I really do recommend Horner's book.

@Leehofooks Ah, thank you, I figured there was just something that we didn't know about fossilization that allowed it to survive for so long. Science changing to accept new evidence and whatnot. Thanks for the info. As far as it being soft tissue, Some of it's been identified as bacterial film, the rest may be the same, I know the skin that was found on another dinosaur (fossilized skin), nor the blood (wasn't actually any blood anywhere), nor any of the other erroneous claims are true.

@lordlandraid The thing with previous generations of paleontologists is that they generally just had degrees in geology (or maybe zoology) so they mostly studied the basic morphology of fossil remains (namely, bones, teeth, shells). Schweitzer has a background in molecular biology, and does things "old school" paleontologists normally wouldn't think to do (like cut up a T. rex femur and dissolve it in acid). Her research simply shows that we still have a lot to learn about fossilization.

@lordlandraid What's really funny about Schweitzer's research is how damaging it actually is to creationism. A T. rex femur was discovered to contain medullary bone -- previously found only in birds. Amino acid sequencing of dinosaur collagen found also showed similarities to that of chickens. It's just more evidence of dinosaur-bird evolution.
And you know what the kicker is? Mary Schweitzer is a devout Evangelical Christian. So much for "wanting to deny God," huh?

If you actually read the person research and response about this you'd learn alot. The woman who did this research is a Christian, she however is shocked at the way Christians are taking this. She said that people are misinterpreting her work. The fact is that this now, most researchers believed that soft tissue decayed rapidly. This new find proves it doesn't. The reason it was a popular belief is because no one ever thought to dissolve a bone they just dug up and test it.

I think you missed the point of this whole video that you typed phrases on. The "soft" tissue (after it was treated with acid) does not tell the age of the fossils. This new discovery does not change the ages of any of the specimens.

this video is hilarious! the DEDUCTION that the scientists came to about the existence of blood cells in the fossils was.... wait for it....... can we have a jurassic park reconstruction?! NOT, CLEARLY this dinosaur was alive MUCH MUCH MUCH more recently than our 'existence' suggests...... Its amazing to see how their deduction took them away from a the most logical deduction. dinosaur is a word made up in the 19th century, the bible says God created the great sea monsters and animals on land, dinos were in this group. As for the red cells in dino bones this article was in the new scientist 2 years ago, no way could these bones last 70 million years and still find this evidence in them. Dinos are not 70 million years old..the current accepted dates of the fossils are wrong. let the evidence speak

Schweitzer et al. did not find hemoglobin or red blood cells. They found evidence of degraded hemoglobin fragments and structures that might represent altered blood remnants. See (Schweitzer and Horner 1999; Schweitzer and Staedter 1997; Schweitzer et al. 1997a, 1997b).

What irritates me about creation scientists (especially the young earth believers) is that they are at once arrogant and ignorant, empirical only when it suits them. They scream "Aha! Science proves the Bible!" when they see one tiny bit of scientific evidence that they think supports their unscientific world-view, but they dismiss the rest of the scientific evidence. They have no respect for authentic science.

This may be perceived by Young Earth believers as evidence that dinosaurs lived in the same era as humans, but that reasoning is an an example of a conclusion driving evidence instead of evidence driving a conclusion. There are several possible conclusions we can make from this particular discovery, but concluding it PROVES young Earth theory, violates the totality of what we have learned from careful observation.

I love this video! I believe that everything was created only the way the Bible says it was. one reason I don't like to promote creationism is because even most of them are falling out of the Bible. grrr, the stone age and cave men did not exist. although there have always been men that lived in caves, just as well as today.
