I'm CREEPILY looking forward to it. Like, I'm taking time off of work so I can read the books as soon as they come out. I'm just really excited about the improvements they're making and how they'll effect our game. What about you?
My group has a lot of hold outs in it. People are happy with 3.5 and the massive amount of books they have for it. I am curious. I am eager to see how they streamline the combat. Last week one of our guys got hit with a spell first round and he had to sit around all night while the rest of us dispatched the beast. I hope that changes.
I'm actually confused by folks who are reluctant to switch, though I understand the issue of not wanting to discard a large book collection. The whole point of 4E is to solve all the little (or big) aspects of 3.5 that slowed the game down or made it less fun. As a DM who's not big on juggling rules, I'm sold. :D
For my guys it is mostly a matter of content. There are so MANY books for 3.5. They are not looking to starting over buying new books and having to wait for there favorite classes and races to come out months if not years from now.
Yeah, that makes sense. I've heard though, that players are able to get much closer to the ideals of their character using 4E than 3.5, even if they have to abandon their Prestige Class, etc. But I'm sure there are exceptions. I do know that 4E is much more character-centric. As for me, though, I've never been one to buy many supplements, so I don't have as much vested interest in them as your group...though I've invested my share into materials. ;)
Wonderful Elliot! And if it makes you feel anybetter my D&D skills are non-exsistant.
Hugs,

Oh man, I remember when I would get gifts for my birthday/christmas and my dad would have to put everything together. Oh that poor poor man.

haha - wow that does look like a complicated thing to put together. It's like the Ikea Furniture of Children's Toys...

It's actually kind of a mess—the wheels keep popping off. Ah, but he likes it.
