There can be many causes, and a few of them are very common, but its not always from heavy lint accumulation.

You said not to bypass the fuse, but when opened up my kenmore, there weren't any wires going into its terminals....

Got a bad fuse on mine. There was all kinds of lint in the machine but none in the trap and none in the chute to outside. Strange.
