If you want to save a few more bullets, don't kill the Maskers that hide behind the boxes while shooting at you. Just wait until they make the shots and jump over them before they fire. Takes a bit of practice, but it works very well.
It's quite funny that after you jump over a kneelin Masker they don't turn around and try to shoot you again. Games have come a long way when it comes to enemy AI. XD
Looking at this one again, I was cracking up at 5:40. The green Masker keeps punching right ABOVE me for 6 seconds until I put a round in him. Some of the enemies do really dumbass things. Certain enemies that I jump over will just GTFO rather than keep pursuing.
The shoving trick used here fails in Rolling Thunder 3 on the Genesis. In RT3, you don't get invulnerability from bumping. Instead you'll be juggled a bit, leaving the Maskers with an easy shot.
Thirty bullets does NOT always finish the boss? Hmmm.
I think it may be how fast you shoot. Since time is low when you're at the boss, you need to go nuts on that shoot button to seal the deal.
BTW, the boss is definitely tougher on the Mega Drive cartridge version. I don't remember how many hits he takes here (could be more?), but the laser is different.
I know what you mean. this game is HARD. The one time I made it to the final boss I ran out of bullets and was left with the puny peashooter gun. needless to say, i lost badly.
Only 20,000 points is a joke for killing the boss. IMO, he should be worth something like 500,000 per life remaining.
You could probably rack up 800,000 or more if you kill everything in Round 8 up to the elevator, lose the current life, and then repeat until game over.
there were more rounds in the sega genesis version

The final boss fight is almost as lame as the first game.

Has to be one of the easiest bosses in video game history.

4:50 is the worst part in the game. And there's no fucking return point in that level, once you die it's all over again.

As I know, I can provide a small tip.

I know that. I actually got the sega genesis version. I am saying the arcade version sounds like a SNES game.

oh yes, especially with some of it's scaling graphics, it could've been good for the SNES

What's up with the last boss? Does it matter how many bullets you use or how fast you shot him because 30 bullets doesn't always kill him.
