Every time I hear this kind of music I think of my childhood. The good times when the hole family got together and Grandpa and Uncle Charlie would get their start the music and all would enjoy. Good home cooked meals , good music and a loving family , that's the riches of life.
Folks .. this is 1've the greatest genuine 'old-time' versions of "Sally Anne" that you're ever going to hear. From 1've the greatest of the old-time legendary fiddlers who ever lived. Makes this footage a genuine Collectors' Item. This version is so very similar to that played live by a great band called "The Oldtimers" (from Hillsville, Virginia, leader Mr Norman Edmonds), at the 37th Old-Time Fiddlers Convention, held at Union Grove NC in 1962 (Folkways FA 2434). A must-get LP !!
Paul Brown (in the blue shirt to the right of Tommy) is now an announcer at National Public Radio. This was filmed at Paul's house in Red Brush, just outside of Mt. Airy, NC. The film crew had to hotwire the movie lights to Paul's house breaker box with car battery cables, because the lights were drawing too much power from the old house electrical system and were blowing the fuses. Tommy was a treasure, and quite a character. Great tunes, good times.
Thanks for making it clear that the tune is Sally Ann (as Tommy says at the start:)). I'd posted this video as a video reply to my earlier video of "Arkansas Traveller -Tommy Jarrell", when people asked for more - hence the title. Perhaps I should change the title?

I love old timers and fiddle music!
Lookin at the background makes me homesick for North Carolina. I'd love to have a jam outside when the weather is nice, under a shade tree.
God bless the south!

On second thoughts, would changing the title screw up the links for anyone who has made it a favourite?

don't really know actually - I guess this discussion will clarify it for anyone who is puzzled.

I think it would be okay to change the title...any links are directed to the URL and not the title itself

Oh, you mean Aly Bain's accent? He can't help being born on the wrong side of the ocean. Tommy sounds pretty normal to me.
