My elf mage warden was genuinely in love with Morrigan, had a personality pretty much just like hers so he understood her pursuit of power. He followed her through the Eluvian.

My human warrior warden, on the other hand, was a shining knight who genuinely loved Morrigan despite her flaws and protected her from that dragon of a mother...only to be abandoned in the end. Since Morrigan would never be what he wanted her to be, he did the right thing and killed his former love.
