@Landotter1 This really is rather lousy work. I have better examples in my multibreak shell videos. This shell probably cost around $10, though I buy my chemicals in bulk. Probably around 6 hours in a shell like this.

hey man, just thought id tell yah my idea....I did it wit h a 2 inch shell but im going to try a 3 this time, you make 5 stingers with headers right.....then you make your shell, insert the stingers, put your stars and burst around your stingers, insert plug.....add ilift yada yada yada, anyways, its a really cool effect, because you get a peony break, then all of a sudden you hear the stingers shoot off in 5 directions, then theyre headers burst, its really cool, kinda my own effect i made up

@Nighthawkinlight you wrote 150g of lift, so 1/12 means 150g x 12. It should give you 1800g (the shell in total) which is equal to a 4 lb shell.

That's called a passfire, it is how all but the smallest canister shells are fused. Watch my video titled 'Multi Break Shell Design' to understand why.

i must ask why you believe benzolift and good BP are of the same power? as benzolift has good BP and a stronger oxidiser.

Because typically benzolift is made to improve slow BP, not high quality willow or the like. There is a limit to how fast lift can be without damaging the shell. If benzolift were made to be much faster than good BP it could never be used on anything larger than microshells.

No. Just because something is fast does not always mean you can use less of it. Regardless of the speed there is a minimum amount of lift needed for the proper gas production to get a shell out of a mortar most effectively.

I plan to make a 4" Farfalle Shell soon so it would be good to know what would be a recommend mortar.

I have seen a 4" HDPE tubing in the hardware store with 5mm thick walls, would that be good to use as a mortar?

I use fiberglass, but only because I got them free from a firework shoot. 5mm is thin for a 4" mortar wall, but if buried it should work fine. Though it will likely not last long.

Three questions. One what is the last bit of black powder you put in for? Two are the rice hulls you put in damp or what? Three the order is lift charge, rice hulls,moons containing stars. then spiking and wrap,right?

Lift is added last. Extra black powder is used to fill all remaining space in the shell. I also do not use rice hulls in this particular type of shell, just straight granulated BP.
