one thing that stuck out to me, was the different 2 different tones in your snare between your right hand from 2:20-2:24 and your left from 2:25-2:30 . . . lol
THANK YOU for NOT playing a drum solo that A) had double bass 32nd notes throughout the whole thing, B) was just snare rudiments or C) was played with the exact same emphasis on every hit. Oh god, I am so tired of those things. I like this solo a lot though.
That sure help , but I think he can clean up the sound as much as he wants and change the tune and all this on his computer, redefine the sound and all that .. But i'm not sure.
hOLY SHIT sorry the vulgar language but at 2:43 when it really start rockin i almost had an orgasm lmao nah seriously its awesome and ur whole drum is perfectly tuned thats very good to hear :) nice mics too :D
I am pretty much sure they are '' Remo Pinstripes '' drumheads, I can see the Remo symbol and i remember when i had those on my drumset, with the black circles arround it :-) Tell me if im wrong ;-)
Yes not bad, But i bought Evans G2 ( not coated like Clodelars tho ) and they sound good too. Oh and by the way , they sure does sound good , but hey , look what mics he is using , its Shure ! I bet he gave his nuts for them hah, that sure is good mics :) And he made them worth it :D
Please post a solo where you blow us away with speed, chops, tom runs, single stroke rols, freehand technique and all that good stuff. I know its hiding in there somewhere. You're just holding out on us.
if you think playing fast is better ur all wrong, yes playing fast takes some skill in a way , but playing smooth takes skills as well! Its maybe even harder since he has to synchronize everything.. Well nice solo and it sounds very good :)
Deffinatley. Slow and smooth is alot more challenging than playing fast and hard for as long ass possible. I always say that you play drums like any other instrument.. You dont just hit them and hope it sounds good. You gotta be musical. But i think this solo is a little too musical in my opinion.. It could of done with a few interesting parts in it, maybe some more cymbal - but thats just my opinion :) Its still very good
I notice when drums are mic'd, the echo of the drums is usually smaller. But there a few ways to reduce resonance: different heads, those plastic rings, and even toilet paper taped on the side of the drum can help.
according to google they help dampen the drums quite well.. but i can tell you from experience those flimsy drum rings would work wonders a kit with echo like mad... The only problem I've found with them is that they can get bent pretty easy and I've had to tape the floor tom one down because it kept rattling.
very nice !

Nice video. I think you could probably tune the 1st tom a little higher. It's pretty close to the 2nd. Nicely tuned apart from that though.

How do you get your toms to not resonate?
Whenever I hit mine, they ring for 8 seconds...

What about mole skin? Or are the plastic rings better?

I don't know about mole skins, but I've put some plastic "Zero rings" on mine, and they still ring, but a muffled ring that sounded awesome.
