  • is there any way to view this documentary online?

  • Beauty in the Eyes of the Beheld will be screened Tuesday March 22, 2011 in Washington DC, 6-9 pm. Filmmaker and some of the women will be there to share with the audience. Address is 901 G St. NW #200, free admission.

  • Beautiful Euro centric opinion of Beautiful....

  • Cool! Can I find this online?

  • BEB will be screening Sunday June 13, 2-4 pm in Baltimore MD. Actually, it's in Towson MD near Baltimore. Sponsored by the Eating Disorders Network of Maryland. Go to the film's website for details.

  • I mean no disrespect. However none of the women in this trailer are beautiful. I find that generally women who say that they are beautiful are not. The women who are truly beautiful are generally not eager to say it.

  • @spackar I think the best way to view it is through the lens of eating disorders, especially anorexia. Anorexics have totally unrealistic images of themselves, and of what they want to look like. Impossible goals of being thin. It's a mental illness. I don't think this video is going to be about the superficial parts of beauty, but about the mental and emotional turmoil of people with eating disorders.

  • I really want to watch this, it seems very interesting. Plus I share the same view point about the 'beautiful women" ting

  • How can I watch this when I am in CANADA!!!!

  • @grotop there is a film festival in Toronto that is considering screening it this June. Not sure when I will know either way.

  • It might screen in Toronto in June. Not sure though.

  • Nice marketing. Hurray for independent film! Down with corporate stagnation on art and literature.

  • "Beauty In the Eyes of the Beheld," will be screening in New York City Tuesday Feb. 23 at 7 pm. Location is Pace University Student Union at One Pace Plaza. Other locations/dates coming soon.

This event is part of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week Feb. 21-27. If your university has a health educator or counseling center, ask them to screen "Beauty In the Eyes of the Beheld" for National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.

  • "Beauty In the Eyes of the Beheld" will be screening Oct. 20 in Northern Virginia (location to be announced). The National Organization of Women (NOW) is sponsoring the screening as part of "Love Your Body Day."

  • also the fact that people can complain about being beautiful just shows how reatarded humans can b

  • 0:49 "see, that's so... go ahead, I'm sorry, thank you. it's just VERY uncomfortable!" Then why do you enter yourself in a fucking beauty pageant?!

  • 'i dont like talkin about how pretty i am' good cos ur not lol self absorbed twats

  • I find it interesting that when a realistic documentary interviews women who are considered "beautiful" but are not airbrushed and made-up hollywood style, people criticize it. Yet the same people would probably criticize the media for portraying unrealistic standards of beauty. And the fact that you call them "self absorbed twats" is indicative of some of the difficulties this trailer seems to be portraying. You just proved its point.

  • Maybe I'm missing something, but none of those women are "beautiful"... like they are attractive, but they wouldn't really stand out in a crowd...

  • My blog "The Definition of Beauty" on my website talks a lot about this you should check it out. The following are the women in the trailer: Miss California Teen, Mrs. Missouri 1996, an exotic dancer, a musician who played with Prince, and a couple of everyday women who are considered "beautiful" by many people around them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so I asked the beholders for references, and this is what I got. I don't know how else to do it. ???

  • @cealabeala Either you are a nutter, or you are George Clooney.

  • @cealabeala It's sponsored by the Eating Disorders Network of Maryland. They say to go to their website to find out what it's about, but I can already guess. Some people with eating disorders like anorexia, have distorted images of themselves, and unrealistic images of what they think they should look like.

  • "Beauty: In the Eyes of the Beheld" will be screening at American University in Washington DC February 23 at 8:30 pm. Filmmaker Liza Figueroa Kravinsky will be there to discuss the film with the audience. Also, downloads are for sale at indieflix(dot)com.

  • cool...:)

  • Girls are called beautiful all the time, theres so much emphasis on appearance for us, men focus on our physical attractiveness A LOT. In truth, I despise being called beautiful, or getting "double takes" in public. It makes me uncomfortable, makes me insecure, etc. I like looking good, but I don't like feeling like I have to impress anybody.

I admit that I hate it to those closest to me, & get called conceited which in turn just makes me feel MORE insecure. It's a lose lose every way. blah

  • rascleattop is conceited.

  • I love you

  • WOW, is all I have to say...

  • Wow , this looks really interesting!

  • I agree. My film definitely touches on your ideas.

  • Beauty is all about how you feel about your self. The mirror relects how you are on the outside.=)

I am confident to know,I am beautiful.

    Thanks for posting!<3

  • Thanks! Oh - it's much longer. This is just the trailer. :)

  • You should keep this up! this video is soo great right now... wouldn't it be nice if it was.. perhaps longer? this is soo going to my favorites.

  • Yes, unless it is screening at a film festival near you, you cannot see the entire film right now. I am trying to save it for broadcast and distribution opportunities, and other festivals coming up. If nothing happens on that front, I will sell DVDs and downloads. Meanwhile, I am trying to spread the word, so please tell your friends about it! :) Thanks for your interest!

  • I signed up, checked your channel, it looks nice. So, as far as I understand we cannot see the documentary yet, right?

  • i don't think any of these women are really BEAUTIFUL, they look pretty i suppose. good concept.

  • I write about this in a blog at beautydocumentary(dot)com. The definition of beauty was definitely the first issue to contend with in making this film.

  • This documentary spells ratings! TV execs would be crazy not to pick it up. It's a ratings winner. It's tailor made for PBS, LMN Networks. Very professionally photographed and edited.

Hope to see it soon in it's entirety on TV.

  • Gee, thanks, dogvandave! :)

  • I really hope to see this documentary someday, you've really captivated my interest! Do you think you'd ever post it up on youtube?

  • If it doesnt' make it on tv etc., I will sell DVDs and downloads in September or October. Meanwhile, I'm trying to spread the word. Please spread the word! Thanks for your interest.

  • Oh - thanks! :)

Growing up, I heard legendary stories of how beautiful my grandmother was. They were incredible stories. So one day I asked her, "What was it like to be so beautiful?"

She replied, "When you're the one you don't think you're so pretty."

Years later, I decided to make a film about this question, whose answer wasn't as obvious as I thought it would be.

  • The video is in my favorites list.

What motivated you to do this documentary?

  • So far, this film is making the festival rounds, hoping to be picked up by distributors or programmers. It that doesn't happen, we will sell DVDs and downloads, perhaps starting in September.

  • Where is this documentary going to be shown? There is also a short documentary on the Sundance YouTube channel also about this very topic as well.
