the style of the melody is clearly tambu ley's . the guitarist is guivano who will later on join tabu ley when africa fiesta exploded. dr nico and his bro dechaud became "africa fiesta sukisa". tabu ley, roger izeidi, mwena...guivano in "afrisa". time has passed by...
Thanks for the timeless sound Abou. Love the African bananas and the tits too, stringed, horned, and curved with simplicity, originality, and authenticity.
could somebody please find and post the song Masua mabe I do not know who played it but it is a Lingala song I listened to while I was young.
It would be great for someone to post some Super Mazembes' pieces like Salakeba, Lovy, Mayopa and Shida, Thanks a lot for this good work here. May God bless you
One thang about Franco, he watched other bands to see who were qualified to play in OK Jazz, if u look at it most of his musicians came from great bands:Josky(African Fiesta Sukisa), Pepe Ndombe(African Fiesta National),Ntesa and Lokombe(Maquisards)Wuta Mayi(Continetal)Mavatiku(Afrisa)drummer(Afisa)and many many more that's why that band was so powerful.
Bottom line was every musician wanted to be part of TP OK and when they came calling you just packed your bags and wrote to your mum or wife to tell them u were now with FRANCO LUAMBO, and guess what everybody began to notice because it was hits galore.
Wonderful...Pius and Jean are highly praised in this masterpiece. Just love the way the string is alternating with the horn after the vocals in the second part of the song. Dalienst's voice is quite subtle, gliding smoothly with that of Sam. Instant favourite!
No words can express the talent on display here...two of the greatest vocalists from Zaire (now DRC). So, at this time Sam and Dalienst had not signed up with TP, or were they just lending a hand to Marquisards! Love it.
Festival des Maquisards was the band of Guvano and Sam Mangwana (both ex-African Fiesta). They didn't leave Festival in September 1969, Dalienst and the rest did.
They subsequently asked Verckys for help, to start a new band. He gave them a new name: Grands Maquisards.
Hey what about the great rivalry that existed between Sam Mangwana and his friend from Kimbaguist Choir in N'djili a neighbourhood city in the outskirt of Kinshasa named as: Dalienst Ya N'tesa.

First there was Le Festival des Maquisards, then Sam left and Dalienst continued with Les Grands Maquisards with Kiesse Diambu and Lokombe Ntal.
Ntesa actually took Sam's place in OKJ in 1976 after Sam had left in 1975. Kiesse, Lokombe and also Dizzy Mandjeku eventually made the step to OKJ.
