im proud to say my mother had many beers with this band and knew them on a personal level. she told me all the stories about her group of friends and the band back in highschool.... now shes got me hooked to the connells
The Connells were very popular in Atlanta in the late 80's when I was a teen. The Connells, Drivin' n' Cryin', Dream So Real and a few others were the soundtrack of our lives back then. I get a huge smile on my face when I hear these classic songs. Sneaking into bars, Six Flags on gatorade and vodka, The Cotton Club
And they routinely sold out the Boathouse, capacity close to 3000 when they could find a way to squeeze that many in. Those were must see shows back in the day.
@punkin1468 Dude we did the same thing, but I think we stuck to the Beast light back then. We would superman across the roll bar on the jeep to this song without a care in the world. Haha, those were the days, so stupid, yet such a memorable part of growing up.
When you are away from the major music scenes, then you are free to make some pretty unique stuff.

Back in the early 90's, they would full on sellout the Boathouse in Norfolk on a regular basis.
When I was in high school and early on in college, they were must see shows and I always remember they were loaded with hot chicks!

LOVE the Connells - where are they?
valleycolorado 2 years ago 2
They're still around on a part-time basis, playing a few select shows a year.
It's a shame they never got over the hump and made it big. They were seriously better than, say, e.g., the Counting Crows.
