  • What was the deal with Jakes Daughter Jade was Jake a single Father. She says he is such a rotten father yet he kept her close wher he could see her at all times it seems. I have seen alot of old footage of Jake and Jade is in there somwhere in alot of the clips

  • Jake E. Lee = one total badass.

  • Damn, I miss long-haired pretty boys in leather pants so tight that if you close one eye and squint they disappear.. Having said that, I also miss real musicians..

  • Hunter of justice is hunter of dickmeat--he probly wanted to suck off ray and is definitely jealous of ppl that make it with their dreams cuz of his own pathetic little life that more than likely amounted to nothing

  • GREAT VIDEO!I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE JAKE (BARK AT THE MOON) AT THE OMNI(20,000 FANS) AND BADLANDS AT CENTRE STAGE ALSO IN ATLANTA WITH AROUND 2,000 OF MY CLOSEST FRIENDS WHEN I WAS IN HIGHSCHOOL. JAKE STARTED A SONG(DREAMS IN THE DARK I THINK) AND HIS GUITAR WAS SO OUT OF TUNE THEY STOPPED AND RAY SAID THEY WERE GONNA KICK HIS GUITAR TECH'S ASS AFTER THE SHOW.JOKINGLY!TAKE TWO. HADN'T EVEN HEARD THE ALBUM YET.JAKE BLEW US AWAY WITH HIS RAW TONE AND RAY.WELL RAYS VOICE WENT INTO MY SOUL! 2MUCH

  • I'm a stage mgr from San Diego who knew and worked with Jake and the lads.Ray was one skirt chasing monster. He loved to fuck groupies,,,hot or skanks,Ray didn't care.Very cool dude who fronted a very cool band.RIP RAY!

  • how many of u heard Hendrix n that cool solo?

  • Hey Oilcan. Do you know if another band by the name of Arc Angel was touring with them at this time or did a few shows with them?

  • R.I.P Ray Gillen..

  • This band is such an inspiration for me...my perspective on music wouldn't be the same without them. The way I play guitar would not be the same without Jake...and what a voice.

  • Funny story - when I first met the band I was so drunk I pulled on Ray's hair to get his attention (i'm 5'9" he's like 6'4") and he just touched my chest and said "dont pull the hair" then we chatted and he was totally cool! He had a line of women around him - yeah - he was definitely into chicks! Great singer and person!

  • I knew Ray briefly toward the end. He considered me his friend and was truly a great guy. I walked in on him in the green room after he ran off of the stage during a show one night. He didn't see me watching him. He was ripping the place apart obviously really upset. I assumed it was because he couldn't hit the highs. He died not quite a year later and now I wonder what his rage that evening was really about. RIP Ray..

  • Ray's voice is simillar to Robert Plant.

  • @7u6y NOPE...better than plant's. ; )

  • Have always been a fan of this band, saw them play years ago and never forgot the strength of this band, especially Ray's voice.. RIP... Thank you for sharing this...

  • super group. as good as anyone.

  • where's that fucking Roadie? he he. snort snort snort bacstage

  • Way too short-lived band. R.I.P. Ray...what an amazing voice. Badlands was badass. I saw them live in Indy with some no-name band...D.A.D. The dude from that band played a 2 string bass. 2 strings! Shit...I could do that! LOL...long live metal!!!! \m/ \m/

  • i was too young to concerts but i remember listening to his voice & how awesome it was oh, gosh..ray was a very handsome young man..

  • they had some sound problems when i saw them too in '91. Jake's guitar wasn't loud enough at times and all you could hear was Greg's bass. still it was great to see them !!

  • xcvbnm

  • my old drummer from back in 1987 - 1988 eric singer was in this band. Great bunch a guys. Eric moved on to play with Alice Cooper and Kiss. Another underrated drummer. One of the best I ever played with.

  • So sad I missed them in Toronto in '89. Will always regret this!

  • Badlands is great! If you like this you might like Red Rocket here on you tube.."I got a date", "Concrete boots" or "All by myself"..

  • I saw this tour except it was at Irvine Meadows in Orange County. I remember there was a lot of fine girls at this show. 1989 I was 23, had a blast.

  • I miss this band. and specially I miss jake e lee music.

  • Awesome talent all around!! Where did this kind of skill go?!??!

  • DAMN THAT SOLO BLEW ME AWAY!!! too bad musicians today could never compare!

  • Saw Badlands open for Tesla and although I love Tesla, Badlands blew them off the stage and they were pissed!!

  • @Philcollenrocks I saw that show at hara arena in dayton ohio. That was the first time we ever heard of Badlands. And you are right, the crowd was going f**kin crazy,it was GREAT!!!

  • I saw that same show in Jacksonville, FL. I can't say for sure that Badlands blew Tesla away, but they were fantastic, and proved at that show that they were deserving of more than just an 'opening act' slot. Great music, powerful songs, and the amazing vocals of Ray Gillen - R.I.P.

  • Dint mean to harsh Tesla. Great Radio Contraversy had just come out and we loved it!! But thanks to Headbangers Ball, we also knew of Badlands. So it was one of my most memorable shows of that time.

  • It's all good - I think Great Radio Controversy is nothing short of an absolute masterpiece. One of the best hard rock records of all time!

  • my dad loves this band

  • Jake's Amp had a fucking big GRAWL.....Eat you up.

  • Had the fortune of seeing Badlands twice in the S.F. bay area, back in the late '80s. These guys kicked "big time" ass!!!

    R.I.P. ~ Ray Gillen

  • damn Badlands opening for Cinderella , that must of been hell of a show.

  • this man we know as JAKE E. LEE is one of the greatest guitarist to have picked up & played a guitar !!!! thank's 4 posting this classic BADLANDS song a live one too.jake proves he is the man when his stuff cut's off and doesn't let it get at him !! atrue musican at work !!! amen to that !! csc/09

  • MrCheezenutz-What`s the name of your awesome/killer band????????????GOOF!!

  • awesome guitar!

  • Too bad the guitar is drowning out Ray's vocals.

  • I was at that concert,..i coulda swore that happened during the intro to devils stomp and he started over from the top. meh maybe i was too high

  • i dont know why i notice this but maan singers got quite a boner

  • Saw the same dead air happen to Molly Hatchet a couple of years back. Bobby Ingram's amps went dead in the middle of a song, the difference being that he had a melt down on stage and Jake didn't let it bother him.

  • this cant be reel that is so painfull if it it is

  • Now I know I'm a better guitar player....

  • You couldnt hold Jakes guitar pick you punk.

  • Roger Glover's hat on bass guitar!!!

  • that last guitar solo is pure perfection in hard rock school!way to go Jake!

  • Thats nuts he doesnt look at what he's playing man he Rules.

  • Loved Badlands! Even learned a few tunes on my guitar...I must saY that my friends band opened for them and I roadied...Jake was kinda rude...rockstar attitude

  • what band was that

  • Vicious Rumors New Years Eve at the Stone in San Fran 91?92?

  • Well Badlands was one of the few good things to come out of the 80's and Gillen is very good but to compare him to Plant is a joke. No one hit the notes Plant did, with that kind of power in zeps early days. Go back and take a listen. The only singer who could was Cris Cornell and he is a god. In fact, not to get off track but the human vocal chords should never be able to hit the notes cORNELL DID, WITH THE AMAZING POWER he had in his youth. Just a freak he was.

  • dude sorry but Ray has more range than plant and corn row cornell dude

  • yeah.BADLANDS had their share of groupies.he must've the AIDS virus before VOODOO HIGHWAY.i'm pretty sure a lot of them groupies were affected.that's horrible.but yeah RAY was somethin' man.he's got the looks and the voice.RAY IS FAR SUPERIOR IN VOICE THAN COVERDALE OR PLANT.

  • @PEDROCLASSIC i saw badlands during the voodoo highway tour in a little club in NC. Ray didn't look sick. I think it was late 91, around the time the Metallica album came out with Sandman.

  • the rumor was (because of his voice) that he was Ian Gillan's brother. Not true. Just another guy with comparable talent. He was really good, and made a big impact in those days. He is sadly missed.

  • 4:43

    Jake is so cute <3

  • Or These will be the day the music die.Bye Bye miss American pie.But The Rock is still alive and well.Hail The Badlands.Ray Gillen We all wait to see you in Heaven.

  • as an 80's chick I remember Badlands I never knew Ray Gillen died, and so long ago!How sad. They were such an awesome band.Todays music sucks, whatever happened to talented guitar players and singers? And why does every guy need to shave his head bring back the sexy talented Jake E Lee's and Ray Gillens of the planet.Long hair rocks!!!Back in the day you actually had to play and master an instument. What the hell happened?RIP RAY

  • Im with you, so true. These players tune down so low they have turned the guitar into percussion instrument. They cant fill or solo. Say what you will about the 80's & all the over the top images, but the dudes could play.

  • There were actually some really good bands after Badlands that people didn't pay attention to because it wasn't on MTV 24-7. For one, watch some of the Cry of Love videos on YouTube and be amazed! Same goes for The Tea Party, Brother Cane, Big Wreck, Dag, a couple of the early Ian Moore records etc..

  • @gypsytwig exactly. What the HELL happened. I am ACTUALLY going to try and bring the vocals back! Have something brewing.... 8)

  • Hihi, kinda funny... you can see the shame on his face! But what a player and what a guitar sound!

Love the Badlands, have their three albums and their first one, is in my alltime top 5 for sure! Ray Gillen is along with Coverdale/Hughes/Turner/Halford/Tate/Martin/Dio/Byron amonst my absolute favourites! Just love his voice.

Where you a roadie or something for the band, because you told you later watched this with the band on the bus later on!?

  • you forgot Ozzy/Rose/Geddy/Walsh/Lemmy/Plant/Daltry/Dickinson

  • Sure great singers (how can I forget Dickinson).

But Geddy, Walsh kinda make different kinda music... bit more Progressive Rock (which I love btw), but nevertheless great singers. Those I mentioned are my favorites. Never been a great fan of Rose, but sure he can sing ;)!

  • fuck ya'll for ripping ray man, he was indian blooded as am i.

  • damn this is one of the best not famous bands ever! jake e lee is an amazing guitarists, ray had a fucking SWEET voice, and why was he always holding his crotch? no offense, man, oilcan, you must have lived an awesome life

  • very good indeed unlike rubbish bands such as poison or warrant

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE

    RIP RAY

  • lmao he looks a little red in the face after that boo boo

  • if you want to see about 15 songs from badlands from 3 different concerts then check out my page

  • Hey

any rare videos exist of the John West era w/ badlands? they played a few shows in 1992

  • Was Ray a homo or drug user or did he just bang to many skanky chicks??

What a great voice and a great band...

  • NOT a homo. Did drugs before Badlands....Was definitely into chicks. Not big into drugs during Badlands era.I drank with him many a night. Great Human Being. R.I.P.

  • Must have gotten aids from some dirty broad then..I am not putting the man down..I am a huge Badlands fan..They should make a movie about this man's life!!

  • Comment removed

  • @HunterofJustice I used to know a groupie that claimed to have slept with him a few times. She was a real skank whore.

  • No problem with the amp. His guitar cable pops out when he does his ballerina twirls. Jake is one of the all time assholes of rock. Its pretty much common knowledge. Ray was a good guy

  • An asshole with talent though, aeh.

  • This is not jokingly arguing. This is Jake being himself which is a DICK

  • pa system is off..

  • Happier times for the band here. This is classic rock at its finest.

  • So true.....Badlands was a a decade late. They would have been HUGE in the 70s!!!!Probably bigger than Zepp. What a talented band.

  • What is Jake up to these days? He was a big inspiration back in the 80:s...

  • Jake eats eggs and hangs out with me. We are old friends and chill while jammin'.

  • badlands is one of the most underrated bands from the late 80's. had ray gillan not gotten aids and died way too young they would have gone on to make great music. saw them at a small club in nyc when the first album broke and they were amazing! i think it was the cat club.

  • Unfortunately, Badlands wouldn't lasted even if Ray hadn't died. Ray actually quit the band sometime in '92 and they had to beg him to come back for the UK tour they had lined up because the promoter INSISTED Ray be the singer (they had talked to Rob Lamothe from the Riverdogs & Debbie Holiday from Stiletto about replacing Ray). Ray quit for good after the tour and Badlands only did 2 more shows with John West on vocals and then split up.

  • I stand corrected. I still wish Ray didn't die and they continued to make great music together.

  • @SabuPtolemy why did he quit the band?

  • @domaro3 He had a falling out wit the rest of the band - don't know over what. Maybe it had something to do with his being sick and beginning to look like it (I noticed Ray looking noticeably thin(ner) and frail when I saw him backstage on the VHway tour) and people pressing the issue. Add the fact that the band had lost the support from Atlantic and wasn't doing too well commercially speaking. I think the writing was on the wall in '92 - if not sooner - that Badlands wouldn't last.

  • great band

zeppelin is a lot there, but... thats great!!

    i mean

plant moves, jakes a youg page...

  • Yea...it's a shame...I wish Jake would play more these days

  • If this band had existed in the late 70's early 80's, they would have been huge

  • Ray was an amazing guy. Thanks for the video....

  • Jake is quiet...

Ray was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet........Just a great Human being. R.I.P.

  • Of all the bands and celebs I ever met, Jake was the nicest and coolest person of anyone. I first met him when I was very young and I have never forgotten how overly humble and gracious he was. He's the anti-rockstar... the anti-ego, the absolute kindest person.

I met Jake when he was with Ozzy, so I never met Ray. :( But I did see Badlands at the Troubadour once, so it remains a golden memory as well. :)

  • I met Jake E Lee at the now LONG GONE Cat Club in New York City in 1990...I totally agree, the nicest guy you will ever meet in your life. And Ray was sick as Hell with the flu that night and they still played a great show.

  • do you have the rest of this concert?

  • How Can Badlands open For Cinderella!? Both Ray(RIP) a Jake Are Phenomenal!!!

Met Both Ray And Jake..Great Chaps..Although Jake is Small and quiet!

  • yeah badlands actually opened for cinderella along with bulletboys and winger at the shoreline in 89.back then nobody thought how talented and bad-ass badlands were in terms of musicianship.people were into glam metal like bon jovi.
