well I shouldn't say jail, I should say prison... Nobody is "jailed" for life. A jail is only a temporary holding cell within the police dept or court house where suspects are dispursed to other facilities.

As for the punishment, the people at the top of this chain could cover this kind of loss with little implications to their lifestyle and they would not seek any retribution as long as the people involved did not name names. People involved in that level do not (in general) name names.

@RRH25 I beg to differ they say this was THE biggest coastal bust in UK history, and when somebody who makes a living doing large deals sets something like this up, I'm sure they probably told the smugglers their lives depend on the shipment's success. These kind of deals don't go down very often. The amount of cocaine involved is not something you can produce in a month or two. As I said, that was several production facilities working for several years... You have to grow coca, still.

@RRH25 of course, but not on this scale, usually you see up to 100 keys during bigtime Miami busts off the coast but this is very unusual for the UK, The product would have been on its last leg of the journey through the sea, and the narcotics would have come from either Peru, Colombia or Brazil.
