@metagros7 I think the most important part is when your tapping finger comes off the string.

If your can get that to be loud and clear, then the rest is gonna sound better as well as you keep part of the volume when you hammer on to a string that's already ringing.

And ofcourse, train the rest of your fingers to make a strong hammer-on as well.

lazy mans trick for speed... i don't think so! also you're not tapping correctly, when you tap your tap finger should retract toward the string not away, this is important if you're tapping with more than 1 finger 2, 3 or 4 depending what you're doing.

hey great lesson, but can I ask you if you pull of with a downward on lower string... some guitarists do it upward but I find it more difficult, but if I go downward on the D string for example, I tend to hit other strings

Tapping lesson? why do people who should know better keep using the wrong term for what's a right hand hammer on and pull off? Its not a "tap" If you are intructing others, please get the basics right. Tapping is what you hear in the intro to songs like "women in love", "spanish fly" or "mean street" What you're doing is hammer on and pull off.

You can actually pick with the flat end of your pick it can be tricky to learn but gives a bit sharper sound. Wouldnt reccomend doing it with lightweights because you can damage it fast and you wont get a good sound . My prefference is still finger-tapping, middle so you can still hold the pick.

when i press down with my tapper finger, i dont get that noise so clear and loud. But on my brothers guitar, it does. Same thing with pulloffs and hammerons. Why dont i get that same sound? I have a schecter hellraiser and he has a fender squier if that helps

How do you tap accurately when moving to different strings? For example, I can tap well on one string but if I try to move my fingers to another string to do tapping, the transition sounds awful. Any suggestions?

you don't go down the frets, you go up on them. for example it's supposed to be 12, 15, then 19 (then repeat by pulling off of 19 down to 12) if you wanna do van halen's kind of tapping. It is so much easier as well. Watch my vid of me playing the eruption solo; you'll see what i mean. I learned that tapping technique in like a month when I first started playing

when i tap i use the front end of my pick... i'm not sure if it's a correct way but it works better for me than using my fingers. Every time I use my finger to tap I get a really inaudible sound... Is there a way to make it louder some how?
