The "could care less" thing annoys the fucking shit out of me. However, I'm sorry, but you're incorrect about the "holding down the fort" part. I'm sure you understand, when someone says "holding down the fort," it's not meant to be taken LITERALLY. They're not literally "holding down the fort" just like they're not literally "holding the fort." Those expressions are both metaphors, therefore "holding DOWN the fort" is perfectly fine to say.
lol this guy is the reason english people are getting a bad rep if you like this guuy then that makes you just as ignorent as you think americans are. im american i dont give a fuuuu how they talk (english/jamaican). btw claiming you started a language doesnt meant its true aaallllsssssooo its the fucken internet no one cares about proper grammer xept for dumb people that cant viably argue and english people it seems like, not all but the ones that make it there buisness to correct the world
I say I could care less all the time. Not to show that I don't care, but rather to I don't care enough to do anything. "Would you care if I finished your chips?" "I could care less but go ahead." It's not a very clear thing to say but I do it anyway.
Uh, no , she could care less, she just doesn't want to put the effort into it. You aren't caring at zero, you're already talking about it. Sorry. You aren't caring nothing, you're already caring about it, and you could care less if you wanted to. Never understood why this confuses people.
I don't agree with you on "Holding the fort". Your argument is that "Holding down the fort is wrong" because it implies a meaning of literally restraining an entire fort. But you could say the same of "Hold the fort" You are not literally holding the fort in your hands. They are both figures of speech.
@horace2004 Saying something that doesn't make sense just means it's wrong, not that the Americans say it differently. Also the English speak English English, there is not European English.
FINALLY! As a young girl, born in America, I was constantly perplexed about why people used "could care less." It made my brain hurt! I was young enough to assume that adults were correct and I was just confused. Yay for logic.
We Americans do not care at all about how you are trying to control what we say, And how we say it. we already do not care and we are achieving the impossible by caring less than not at all.

The graph can infinitely go in the negative Y direction, therefore no one has the ability to say they couldn't care less as that is impossible.

Maybe if Americans learned how to speak using correct grammar, there would not be any videos like this floating around the internet.
