  • Hello,

could you tell me where does this footage come from. Is there a dvd?

    Thanks in advance.

  • I've listend Parsifal1962 for long time, I believed it's one of the greatest music. But this 1959 can be greater than 1962.... Really amazing guy, Knappertsbusch!!!

  • HK trained with Richter.

  • Sad that it´s half a bar out of synk

  • el mas grande de los grandes en verdad yo lo adoro!!!...si se puede hablar de purismo en materia de wagner el lo encarna...!

  • It is incredible WOW

  • The whole thing seems not only from another age, but from another planet.

  • meanie, you cut it off just before the bells came in! *sniff*

  • very beautyful

  • Overwhelming and absolute performance!

  • golden times in Bayreuth, unlucky it,s not in presents days

  • English subtitles (written by Japanese in the video)

  • Just incredible. Wagner should have heard that!

  • there must be some special magic between kna and his orchestra... i am not sure if today orchestra members can understand that hand direction....

  • what passion!! i love Knappertsbusch, thanks!

  • This sounds so much like the 1958 recording that I happen to know. The 1956 and 1957 recordings are really totally different. I wonder how reliable the 1959 information on that video is. Or did walhalla records sell me the 1959 version ?

  • Fabuleux.

  • The greatest conductor of PARSIFAL I have ever heard.

  • @billyguns2 Vero!!!

  • I met the tenor Jess Thomas a few years before he passed away and told him how much I enjoyed his Parsifal under Knappertsbusch from '62. He looked at me and said, "I loved working with Kna."

  • here finally we can see how Kna's physical movements created those enormous slabs of pure dissonant sound which carry the listener deep into the mystery of Wagner's power.
