  • Albany is one of the more rarer markets where they decided to primarily populate the VHF spectrum. In my opinion, channel 6 made the mistake, misguided I'm sure, of thinking that the real estate of RF 6 was valuable. We all know now in digital TV world that 2-6 is a battlefield for signal to cross.

  • Update I have put an antenna on my roof. Wxxa and Wnyt now come in strong. Wyna has improved to where pixelization is at a minimum but it is no where as strong as the other two upper vhf stations. All Albany stations come in 60%-95% except for wyna at 25%. I need 18% for a watchable signal.

  • About a month or so ago, WRGB boosted its signal, and I began receiving it consistently at about 75-85%. Prior to this, I only got it on rainy days or days of heavy clouds. I think they've got it up pretty high now. I still would prefer it on UHF, but they're convinced that VHF 6 is the best choice. We'll see if it ever changes.

  • How strange, wrgb is one of the strongest I receive. I have trouble with wxxa and wyna. Wnyt is relatively weak but it usually comes in ok. Wmht, wcwn and wten all have good signals too. I am in Wilton and I am closer.

  • dtv sucks when it rains!

  • Luckily, there is nothing good on CBS. 2 1/2 men anyone?

  • I too had an excellent signal when WRGB was on UHF 39 pre-transition. Unlike you, I get a decent enough signal on 6 to watch. It runs less than 50% though.

WYNA seems better now than on day 1 but it rarely tops 45%. Puzzling as WNYT has been coming in fine all along using a moderate gain UHF antenna. IMHO, they all should have gone to UHF and stayed there. Would have only needed one, much smaller antenna.
