  • la luna nuova della pfm grande ;D

  • I have one of these in storage not been played in years - think it's time I got it back out for a session

  • grande efeitos

  • i am impressed.

  • I seriously wonder if this video and a few others are responsible for the fact that a year and a half ago I could almost afford to get one of these used on eBay, then they shot out of my price-range, then they just disappeared. I can't remember the last time I saw one for sale on eBay.

In other words, GREAT DEMO. I just wish it had been a little LESS great.

  • thanx 4 demo .....******

  • i can remember mine come with cards to put over the dials so you could make the sounds which told you what dial to turn early 80,s i had mine 83 i think

  • no pitch bend?

  • no, only a pitch knob

  • You can call me a heathen, but I preferred the SX1000 to play over the Minimoog D I had. this has "high priority" which beats the mood hands down. Watch out for the key contact springs. That killed my SX1000

  • I'm sure they sold these in , mail order catelouges in the 80's. I wish I'd bought one now. for 50 pence a week or something. Great Demo.

  • Where the fuck can I find one of these.

Holy shit. That's the sound I've been looking for for ages.

  • They´re on ebay

  • Of course they're on eBay...

  • so phatt...

  • what have learned today? never sell synths.

  • Yes. Yes absolutely. Let me think, what do I not have anymore - Yamaha DX7, Siel DK80, Ensoniq Esq1, Casio CZ1000, Jen string machine, Crumar Performer, DX27, Kawai K4, Casio RZ1 drum machine, now we get to the scary bit; Roland TR808, Siel DK600, Roland SH101. I'd have all or most of these back.

  • If you'd take them back now why did you get rid of them? I'm not asking to be a smartass, but to hear your opinion. I face these kinds of issues all the time and I'm curious how other people deal with them.

  • A few reasons mostly not to do with the instruments. One broke down, I was moving house so it went on the tip instead of to a synth restorer; another fell down the stairs. One I gave away on a sort of semi permanent loan (give it me back if you ever want to get rid of it - he never did). Sometimes it was fiscal, sometimes it was foolish. ALso as time passes the old way of thinking used to be that anything new supersedes anything old but we know that to be erroneous now.

  • Any reason you were reluctant to go near the pulse width control? That's what gives the Jen it's phatness. Clearly not heard on this vid.

  • i was young :)

  • I've got one of these. Great realiable little synth. Easy to operate. Why would anyone want to compare a Voyager to the Jen? I've got other big name analogue's from the 70's, but I like the Jen for what it is.

  • i had one of these back in the eighties, really did have some fun with,i thought i was keith emmerson lol.great fun though.and looking at this vid brought back some lovely memorys thank you, youtube at its best,

  • all the free vsti's I've played sound like that and nothing can compare to real keyboard fingerations

  • Comment removed

  • man, your minimoog voyager cost 20 times more then the jen sx1000 :)

  • yeah thats true lol the jen still sounds pretty good to

  • @ doom705.

    you need a doc :)

    poser

  • @doom705 If this had moog on the back all the analogue nut jobs would be screaming for it.

Its a great synth the Jen and sounds fantastic.

  • @SPFXsynthesisers yeah still sounds awesome sometimes ya don't want the moog sound, i use my APR odyssey just as much. :)

  • @doom705 of course your Minimoog sounds better IT"S MOOG, lol.

*Roland SH-2 is the best synth in the world, well beside the Minimoog of course* words of a certain industrial musician.

Here's the price range with analog synths, ebay prices, Roland SH-2 around $800 roughly, Alpha Juno 1 (one of my favorite synths) being around $600, the Jen sx1000 $122 the last one I saw, and the couple Minimoog Voyagers I saw are between $2000 and $4000.

Minimoog should sound way better, dude lol.

  • @LySeRgIa2 nice i love the SH series i use to have the SH-09 loved it but sold it a while back, man i miss it. :)

  • @doom705 Roland makes some awesome synths, the analogs, the SH series is awesome. My two favorite synth's are still the Alpha Juno 1 and the Roland SH-2 and 09. I'd love to own a Moog Rogue or a Voyager but I don't have the cash lol, they aren't cheap :p

  • @LySeRgIa2 yeah they're expensive, i had to use part of my factor grant, and save for mounths to pay for her

    :P

  • @doom705 why not post your inside leg measurement while you're at it?

  • This sounds just the same as my moog source. Wierd ;) ?

If anyone has a source, back me up

  • the sourse was usimng strickly analog technology as with the minimoog voyager uses analog and digital for assesability. but man i love the old sourses there f**king lol sweet when did you get it?

  • I had one and not trying make any reflections on your abilities but you can be much more creative than your example conveys I made some great sounds with mine. The human voices were one of my favorite sounds and the ability to switch octaves easily creating some great effects.

    Thanks, Gareth.

  • I have a midied Jenny but haven't managed to make it sing like you. I'm new to playing and am very impresed with what you managed to get out of an unfairly poorly regarded monosynth. Thanks for showing me and everyone else what she is capable of.

  • one of my favourite synths!! its still playing, and i still have the papers which cover the knobs for the sound libraries!!!!)

  • beautiful sounding filter on that synth

  • Hey look at video while you go up and down the comments

  • Salut Le jen sx 1000 fu mon premier synthé , j'en garde un bon souvenir Merci pour la video :)

  • pretty swift on those little fingers! :)

  • cool!

i cant get these sounds on mine because some of the knobs are broken! :(

    check out my vid! :)

  • PFM!

  • Love your videos Carlo...keep it up

  • i love the sound it reminds me of super nintedo

  • I had one of these in late 80's, gave it to my brother, we had an argument over a girl and he threw it out a second floor window. It smashed into many many small parts which a child could easily choke on.

  • dang that sucks.

    :\

  • Great video thanks for posting! It was my first proper synth, how I miss it after seeing this!

  • Lovely...got one myself watch "homestudio Jacco"

  • lovely machine

  • Very cool, and i learned some new licks on keys thanks! Hey how oscilattors does she have envelopes, adr? Can you tell us whats undert he hood of this beast? Sounds great man!!

  • the jen sx-1000 has 1 oscillator (saw, square, pwm) i've added a suboscillator (square -12), 2 evenlopes (ADSR) for filter and amp, 1 lfo for pitch (vibrato), pwm and filter, glide, octave selector, noise (white and pink), 12db/oct resonant filter...i think it's all :)

  • im seeling one ov these synths if any one is interested?

  • Nice demo dude...lm interested in buying an sx1000 myself, has yours been modified in any way?

  • nice to see a snyth demo on youtube by someone who actually knows how to play music

  • thank you :)

  • Sounds like my Korg 770 - thin

  • I'd never heard Jen filters before. Thanks for the video and recording the sound direct.

  • My crack head brother in law sold my fucking Sequential Circuits Pro -1.

That shit hurt me soooooo bad. It still hurts. I got plug ins allday but theres nothing like the real deal.

  • More fat bass, less nintendo noises.

  • cool synth

  • Thanks bud. The reason i think its boring, is because my dad does the same stuff. He's into that, and he does more of it. So i've heard it a lot.

  • what i would give to have that!

  • Umm... sorry... pretty boring...

  • Niiice. I love the SX1000. Sure, I'd like an ARP 2600 or a Minimoog, but on a realistic budget the Jen SX1000 is amazing. Wood panelled sides, 24 dials, that genuinely raw analogue sound..

  • I have a SX1000, its a nice little synth, shame there is no pitch wheel on it

  • i love it :) if you want you can find a nice mod here: http://benthack.blogspot.com/2006/03/jen-sx1000-modded.html

  • a guy playing an analog synth. how amazing. :-)

  • Nice, nice, nice. I loved it.

  • I like it.

  • This is fantastic! You should join my Analog Synthesizers group and add this video! This is precisely what I hoped people would add! Thanks!
