they didn't show the part where the husband gets hassled around all day at work by asshole bosses and idiot coworkers. that's what you get for being a nice person... nothing. same goes for the wife.
As part of an acting course, it would have been good to give her a more versatile role to play, rather than a purposely monotonous character. It was still played well, but a lot of an actors' ability needs to be shown through the right script.
The girl plays well. The black guys: get more confidence, drink a beer before you act, your nervousness can be felt.
Jesus girls: well done, especially the main chick. You are such a j.whore.
Jesus guy behind: well done as well, the sexy stuff can be felt. Keep developing your acting. Camera shows way more than theatre. Theatre sucks. It's worse than mimes. lol

and maybe the blood drop in the cake symbolizes that her blood and toil went into the cake and maybe the marriage? and it makes her husband brushing all her work off to the side even more awful

I think, this video should show us, how important it is to give someone honestly the feeling, that he or she is important in our life, especially if it´s our housewife (or husband). She gets all this attention and compliments by this other guys but not from the man he is married with, all though he keeps his house clean, bakes and do a lot of effort for him.
She's a great example of the perfect housewife archetype. Everything about her seem to be flawless. Her teeth are perfectly white, her lips are lusciously red, and her skin is milky white. The only problem is obviously her relationship with her husband, who appears to have distanced himself from her.
Needless to say, I'm quite angry towards the husband for not acknowledging this generous act from his wife. He should at least politely greet her even if he isn't in the mood for small talk.
I think the idea of bickering, flawed relationships vs. zero communication/affection is what makes the film truly special. There is a close proximity and intimacy among all of the knockers with each other, which is contrasted with the lady and her husband. The knockers relationships and even beliefs are coarse and skewed, but they all nonetheless have someone beside them. Also in contrast, she is much better represented physically than all of them, yet suffers greatly inside.
First of all I loved the film. Very well made. Although, I did think a little more variation on that original musical theme would have been the Icing on the cake. I think her character became a lot less etherial when she spoke at the end. overall till excelent. 5/5
Every time the doorbell rang before her husband, she saw at least one nice, attractive man who really paid attention to her. Everyone treated her with respect and kindness. But the only one she's excited to see is the same old husband who treats her like crap. Very sad social commentary.

Overall quite a nice project. Maybe he forgot his keys,and she knew this and was expecting him to ring the doorbell when he came. And maybe,depending on the time she was expecting him to come-she didn't have the time to make the cake by scratch, but she wanted to make the frosting special. Or maybe she has more art talent than cooking talent.
The acting from "the boss" was pretty weak; however, the main character was brilliant. She portrayed her hopes and let downs without a single word. It was rather powerful. I'm impressed.
i guess this is one of those things where its open for you to make your own interpretations about, like me, i thought, she kept getting excited when someone was at the door, thinking it was her beloved john, but happened to be other people, perhaps that john was just her imagination, maybe he passed away and she doesn't want to believe it
And all those other 'attractive' and kind people who were willing to offer her some love she rejected. Women are afraid of moving on in their lives demanding a divorce, sad but true. They somehow feel that he will get better, women try to 'fix' guys and thats also one of the reasons they go for badasses, correct me if im wrong ladies;)

The movie was weak on the plot / story. The story seemed to be an after thought or from the "make it up as you go" variety. The focus and attention seemed more on the visual composition and the the music. You didn't strike a balance in this one. Good films draw you in with the story and the quality of the acting. The art and music then become the icing on the cake. A weak story with better art/music is like icing barbeque sauce on bad fish.
Strike the word "icing" - I was going to say icing on broccoli. There are nice visuals in the clip, but film does not exist for the sake of good photography.
Sucker 3000? Really, high school improv classes can do better than that.

I saw it as she was somewhat oblivious to the innapropriateness of the hookers that found Jesus and the vaccum cleaner salesman. She only saw people as good and felt compassion for them and could not see their flaws, but yet she knew her husband was flawed due to his decision to cheat. You see people that may be bad in nature trying to do good things, although I'm not too sure if they were really accomplishing that very well.
Also I find it weird that the hookers told her to have a wonerful evening, as if they knew what was going to happen.
I also thought that she might have an ocd for cleaning/ tidying things? And every-time something happened that wasn't 'clean, 'ie she broke an egg, it made her think of her husband having an affair..
I loved it anyway, very surreal.

Don't know if it was intentional, but all of the people who visited her seemed relevant to each other.. the first salesman said "my hose" as in "my hoes"... the preachers were dressed like hookers, and told her that they used to live on the streets, and the last were orphans who lived on the streets...
Shes a great actress tho everyone else sucked. And great story.

I thinks everyone will see it in the way they see the world and their life.
For me, the people who are coming to her house, are actually symbolising her.
The listener, the kindness when giving.
And she's keep all in order at home, everything neat, doing all she can. But all this doesn't hide the fact she's unhappy.
So she got a lot to give.
No matter how good she's at listening, gives to her husband, making sure - her husband doesn't acknowledge and see it.
Sad short story and excellent.

Very Complicated;
The Salesman - is her way to clean up after killing her husband.
The Christians - is her way toward salvation/forgiveness after killing her husband.
The beggars - is her hired help to kill her husband.
The Husband - is cheating on her.
Her cut finger - is the bleeding-out of all the love she has.
She will never enjoy peace until she gets rid of him, her outward appearance doesn't reflect how she truly feels.

i guess this is one of those things where its open for you to make your own interpretations about, like me, i thought, she kept getting excited when someone was at the door, thinking it was her beloved john, but happened to be other people, perhaps that john was just her imagination, maybe he passed away and she doesn't want to believe it

She's a woman, she's drawn to men of his kind.
And all those other 'attractive' and kind people who were willing to offer her some love she rejected. Women are afraid of moving on in their lives demanding a divorce, sad but true. They somehow feel that he will get better, women try to 'fix' guys and thats also one of the reasons they go for badasses, correct me if im wrong ladies;)

I would have liked it more had it been her own birthday that had been ignored/forgotten etc... that would have had some juice to it...
or even if after John went to bed she left him... to find her own way in the world other then being the Perfect wife to a loser husband

sorry guys/girls this was not 1 of ur better efforts, the cinematography is great but i got really confused about the story line or lines, what/where was the plot besides John not coming home for his bday cake? was he cheating?i just didn't get it. `:-/

The movie was weak on the plot / story. The story seemed to be an after thought or from the "make it up as you go" variety. The focus and attention seemed more on the visual composition and the the music. You didn't strike a balance in this one. Good films draw you in with the story and the quality of the acting. The art and music then become the icing on the cake. A weak story with better art/music is like icing barbeque sauce on bad fish.

The camera work was weird and annoying. Music was almost as annoying, but equally cheesy.
This is like the worlds worst Paxil commercial.
I'm not sure what was the worst part. Maybe the vacuum scene, possibly everything to do with the Husband (John).
Good Luck to everyone at the VFS trying to live their dreams or what ever, but that was just straight crap.

i really liked it. it was able to hole my attention, its just that the actors were very poor.

I interpet it as the paths in life and whatever anyone does you have the responsibility to chose your own path. Her husband is cheating and is an ass but she still see ppl whom has suffered more, and the different paths they have taken. Towards religion, begging, make a living by selling. She can chose to be miserable, take revenge (with the hose :D) or take any path. Very good movie!

I saw it as she was somewhat oblivious to the innapropriateness of the hookers that found Jesus and the vaccum cleaner salesman. She only saw people as good and felt compassion for them and could not see their flaws, but yet she knew her husband was flawed due to his decision to cheat. You see people that may be bad in nature trying to do good things, although I'm not too sure if they were really accomplishing that very well.

Also I find it weird that the hookers told her to have a wonerful evening, as if they knew what was going to happen.
I also thought that she might have an ocd for cleaning/ tidying things? And every-time something happened that wasn't 'clean, 'ie she broke an egg, it made her think of her husband having an affair..
I loved it anyway, very surreal.
Does anyone know why the title is "and she was"? Couldn't figure that out..

Haha, watched this many times and I still don't completely get it. Don't know if it was intentional, but all of the people who visited her seemed relevant to each other.. the first salesman said "my hose" as in "my hoes"... the preachers were dressed like hookers, and told her that they used to live on the streets, and the last were orphans who lived on the streets...
