  • the cat where spare parts ran out!

  • I don't think it is right for people to do things like that. Yet some people just don't care. I'm glad that Big Cat Rescue is here to support the Serval because animals can not defend them-selves. Once an animal feels that humans are threats, then when the people who are trying to help them get bite or hurt. Then the animal has to be put down because it has showed aggression to a human. It's just not right! If you agree with me post it on my wall. Maybe one day we can do something about it.

  • Aw, nice job with the rescue and care for this poor animal. BigCatRescue is AWESOME!!!

  • does she have a name? i think a clever name could be tri-pod ^.^

  • @7XxshadowxX7 She was named Desiree :)

  • @7XxshadowxX7 that would be sad and disrespectful... :)

  • After watching this video about servals and how Savannah cats became to be, I don't think I want a Savanah cat. I rather adopt a domesticated cat from a shelter.

  • @chichirinuriko20 That's AWESOME! You're making a great choice :)

  • @chichirinuriko20 Just so you know---I have several early generation Savannahs and none of them exhibit the behaviours mentioned in the video. Savannahs are just like any other breed of cat, dog, horse or whatever. They are individuals and much of their behaviors are shaped by their environment, not just genetics. So often it is the owner's shortcomings that are to blame for an animal's behaviors but the animal always gets the blame. As a life-long horse trainer I can attest to that.

  • this place is great in every aspect other than the savannah serval issue, on that issue they are fools, notice they have no proof of where this animal came from but they go ahead and assume the worst just so they can re enforce a snoby perspective. Its lie that with anyone with a agenda, Where you are not sure just go ahead and assume the worst. There are breeders that are good and bad, same with anyother buisness. I know there are good breeders and owners that do it the right way,

  • @thisgame2 Where do you suppose a 3 legged serval comes from??? Of course the logical answer is that she was a "pet" her leg had been removed surgically. In our eyes any breeders of big cats to sell into the exotic pet trade is bad, there's absolutely no reason to be doing this and the animals are the ones that suffer, there is no right way.

  • @Big i respect your opinion but stay objective & dont make assumptions, cats can escape and possibly be eating garbage to explain a weight, imbalance, you do great work but your making assumptions & calling adult servals as nasty is not what i expect from people i respect. Back off the angry savannah issue a lil. it overshadows all the great stuff that you do. Also you call a serval in one of the videos a franken kitty, how is that true? dont you mean the savannah is the frankemkitty? chill BCR

  • @thisgame2 Often people call the serval frankencat because they are the "cat of spare parts" referring to their unique appearance. Yes cats can escape and be released into the wild, I don't understand your reference to them eating garbage to explain a weight imbalance? Servals are wild cats and can be very nasty when they want to be this is FACT, savannah cats can be the same.

  • @BigCatRescue not my f5girl Bella, she is benalXsavannah, She was on the runty side so she is very small savannah but she is the love of my life. I suggest f4 or higher, Regardless i am done arguing, fact is i really appreciate what you guys do and we can agree to disagree. I am way to happy with BCR to be bothered about it. Keep up the goodwork i and so many others are behind what you do. I regret calling you foolish and i apologize for that. If anything you are extremely knowledgeable,

  • Wow some of these people are really dumb commenting. Too bad most dumb people have the loudest mouths....anyway, I agree. Thank you Big Cat Rescue for all you do for these animals; helping them out with the cruelties of the exotic pet trade and what not. It is safe to say you are these animals' voice; God bless you all :D

  • it's disgusting what some people do to animals. Currently I'm 15, and I've always dreamed about opening something like big cat rescue! for orphaned or abused exotic animals (i wanna be a vet for exotic animals) :)

I know it might be silly but I've already started saving up money for the past couple years.

    i just wanna make a difference! :)

  • adult servals are NOT ALL nasty!! secondly, most breeders DO take good care of all their cats!

  • @quebegirl They definitely all have the ability to be nasty and wild whether the individual cat is "friendly" or not, people who breed these cats have minimal interest in animal welfare and maximum interest in making money....

  • @BigCatRescue My close friend has a female serval that goes in and outdoors and actually uses her litter box. she had only 2 accidents inside the home and she is 7 years old now. Although she's is hyper active, she is a well socialized cat and enjoys the company of her loving family. when i met her, she was timid at first and a bit hissy, but now she comes to greet me. i fell in love! Now, i'm on a waiting list to get one myself. although they need extensive care, they CAN make wonderful pets!

  • @quebegirl There are exceptions to the rule, what happens when someone goes to meet her and she doesn't like the look of them? What happens if you buy a serval and it does spray all over your living room, kitchen and bedroom, hates people and is aggressive, what will you do with the serval? The bottom line is theses are wild unpredictable cats that don't make good "pets" and are always the ones that suffer when people realize this

  • Scott Lope is a nice looking bloke. yum yum

  • Hey I've watched this before

  • I am really glad you guys are putting down the facts about owning any of these wild cats as pets. A lot of people are under the impression that owning one of these wild cats or in some cases hybrids would simply be fun and amazing when that is def not the case. And even if the person has every intention to love and care for them in every way that is needed, they just DO NOT make good pets. And it is not good for sooo many other reasons as well. I hope you can keep getting your point across.

  • This guy's a dick. Servals are NOT nasty....And the breeders i've met with are not irresponsible. They love their cats and would never in a million years let a serval loose in the wild. From what i can tell, servals can be wonderful pets if you're equipped to handle it. This one more than likely escaped from a careless owner.

  • @peppystraps This guy has over a decade of experience working with servals, they are wild and will never make good "pets"

  • @peppystraps Nobody should have Servals as pets they are will animals!! I hate the exotic pet trade!! Thank you Big Cat Rescue!! I am a volunteer at Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and I helped raised a wild orphaned serval... this is not a pet!!

  • @Odette3227 Thanks for the correct and positive comment!! :)

  • Poor kitty..were u able to find out what caused her to lose a leg?

  • @arabian1111 No we never will at this stage ???

  • I think shes beutiful even with 3 legs

  • Thank you for taking in this beautiful girl!

  • this is soooo good to see things like this! bravo, bigcatrescue!!

  • I hate those bastards who use servals for making their hybrid cats! Just using these poor animals to make money. And the people who buy them are just as bad...Why can't they just get a normal domestic cat? It would be much better for everyone, certainly for the servals. And take some responsibility for your animals. I don't consider my cats as just pets, they are almost like furry kids to me. Or life partners. Domestic cats are amazing too. And they actually LIKE living with people!

  • serval

  • Жалко сервалчика =((

  • I am really glad that you were able to help her.. you rescue her from hell....and placed her in cat heaven...Thank you for your kindness!

  • well haha i just got a good laugh.. her name is Desiree i don't know what i was thinking.

  • i think her name should be Bless... i think it's beautiful. everytime i watch how you guys at BCR save an animal it makes me wanna cry. i have seen alot of animal cruelty in my life and for you guys at BCR to dedicate your time and energy in helping and saving these beautiful cats i thank you! but consider her name Bless because she was blessed to have people like you take her in and give her a great home!

  • Several servals at BCR! We caught a glimpse of the beautiful Desiree last weekend on the feeder tour, very sad about her leg but she sure can get around FAST on the 3 she has!!!

  • I'm curioius to know, how is this Serval doing in recent days?

  • She's doing really well and as well and truly settled into life at BCR. She now as a name also - Desiree, eating good, does operant conditioning and as unused christmas trees to smell! Life's good!

  • quite interesting to know, also what is operant conditioning?

  • Operant conditioning is a form of training using positive reinforcement. We place small chunks of meat on the end of a stick with a clicker and ask them to do various moves, like "up" is when they stand on their back legs so we get a good look at their eyes, teeth, claws and belly to make sure everything looks good. They like to do it, it's just using natural behaviors no tricks and helps us with vet care also :)

  • YAY!

  • id rather have an adult serval cat than any type of savannah cat any day! their so much more majestic

  • Have you ever been around any servals before?

  • aw, she is adorable and such a fighter (: keep up the great work!

  • Why people breed exotic cats to have as pets or to keep for other strange reasons is beyond me. Why don't people just adopt animals that sit in shelters on death row or maybe take one in off the street that has been left to fend for itself? I guess anything for novelty's sake.

  • Very well said! It's so sad that thousands of true pets are euthanized each month in shelters around the country.

  • by theway i am very happy you saved her!

  • i feel said for her and i would do anything if i could for her. that is why i made my name mranimalrescue. I think ou should call her marble because of her spots or blossom or el or lakira (la-key-ra)

  • I watched your video about Savannah cats and was a little thrown off....people only pay that kind of money for the cat because of their beautiful markings. My friend owns a Savannah cat and she is just like any other cat. She eats kibble, sleeps is his bed and is very affectionate and NORMAL. Savannahs and Bengals both have the potential to be great house pets. And I don't think it's BREEDERS getting mad, I think it's PET OWNERS, whether they also breed or not. Savannahs are great house pets

  • It all depends on what generation of savannah cat you purchase, the higher the generation the more "tame" they are supposed to be. However this sin't always the case and what happens to all the first generation savannahs that nobody wants, the whole practice of breeding these cats is unnecessary and cruel. Just rescue a domestic cat that wants to be a pet, save a life and save some money too!

  • His cat is an F1 Savannah. They're just not the pets for everyone. But when they like you it is a priceless relationship, but its all about respect. Speaking of respect I'm sure a lot of the breeders out there would have a bone to pick with you about what you said, something along the lines of "i don't know why breeders are getting so mad! it's probably because they don't want to lose any money..." Savannah owners are a specific kind of people. Not amateurs. Check out the video response

  • Its a slippery slope. 1st of all a Savannah cats should never eat 'kibble' or dry food. Theyre predators and their digestive system cant handle rice and grain. Only meat. 2nd so you have one great pet. How many Cats had to suffer to make that great pet? The wild serval father or mother? Many times the servals will kill their domestic cat partners before they find a cat thats a suitable mate. Ive worked with Savannahs and they can be great pets. But so can Cougars. Doesnt mean its right.

  • I think they should call her skipper because of the cute way she walks with only having 3 legs. It is unfortunate that she lost it in the first place but she is in a far better situation than her old one. Good job guys.

  • call her "Life-force'" to have survived in the dessert and three legged shows how much shows wanted to live.

  • u should name her baby

  • thanks

  • if u still haven't named her I'd suggest Sakura (she looks like cherry blossoms are scattered on her fur)

  • No name yet, thanks for the suggestion I like it :)

  • You should name her "Tangy"

    I like it

I got it from my fav game animal crossing

  • I like Tangy!

  • So sad when animals are exploited. But I'm proud of Big Cat Rescue, and especially proud you're located in my home town!

  • Thanks!

  • are you accepting donations for the serval?

  • That would be great if you click on the link to the description to the video, this will take you to the donation page on our website. THANK YOU!

  • what about naming her :

    Swadu

  • What does this mean? Thanks :)

  • God bless everyone at Big Cat Rescue for taking in all these beautiful animals.

    :]

  • Thank you for watching!

  • Maluum - special

    Zahabu - the golden one

    Machui - like a leopard

just some African names I like :)

  • I like Zahabu!

  • How about Monifa? It means "I am lucky" in Yoruba, an African language. Sounds fitting to this particular Serval.

  • Nice, not heard of that before, thanks for the suggestion!

  • What about Catalina, since she was found in the Catalina foothills?

  • Yep, this is a good one, one of the best we've had so far, I like it, thanks! :)

  • so who gets to pick the name and when is it gonna get picked?

  • The staff and volunteers are going to get the chance to do this, pulling the names out of a hat type deal and this will be done mid december, so she will have a name before christmas!

  • Aww she's a beauty! Thank you for your compassion! :)

  • How about Molly? =) Or Vokarri. xD Thats my name so it'd be kinda cool having a serval named after me, or with the same name, I guess. =)

  • What does Vokari mean?

  • You know.. I'd have to ask my parents. But they're gone at the moment so i'll let cha know when they get home. "^^

  • Sounds good, thanks!

  • Okay, so I ask my dad when he got home, and he said that Vokarri is a uncommonly used name for a type of lotus flower that grows in sertain parts on Africa. He couldn't remember what the actual name for it was called. I was born in Sauri so they wanted to give me a cool African name. I suppose its not the best name for a serval but I like giving sugggestions. =)

Hope you can find a fitting name for her. ^^ She such a beautiful cat.

  • her name should be Stephanie luck because she is lucky and because a kitten i rescued was named Stephanie by me but unfortunitally my kitten stephanies sister died the mother was only still a kitten herself and sat on them not knowing how to feed them so her sister blacky died and a year later Stephanie did too! another was born and saved from me i named her lucky and its been 3 years and the kitten is still alive therefore the servals name should be Stephanie luck.

  • Stephanie luck is different! Sorry about the kittens :(

  • lol i know and than you

  • that just sad how people would just do that to these animals and its great that u rescues her :)

  • It is sad, to think how many of these cats are suffering in the USA due to the relaxed laws regarding the ownership of these animal, we're doing our best to change this :) Thanks for watching!

  • Lol silvia the serval

  • TWOSON?!?!?!?

is it spelled twoson tha'd make me crack up!

  • Good work Scott - Maybe a name like CONSTANCE is worth a thought - (continuing forward) - THANKS for YOUR work with the Big CATS!

  • Thanks for your support!

  • How about Will or Spirit? I think will is a good name because she has the will to keep going. I think Spirit is a good name because she has a lot of spirit in her.

  • Two more good ones, thank you, we're gonna have trouble deciding!

  • Thanx from Holland for what you all do for the cats

I can't donate but you have my respect

Sweet regards and give the cats a big hug from me .

Uhhh nonono do not, I think they don't like it.

  • Yeah hugging big cats not a good idea! Thanks for your support from across the pond though! :)

  • Spike !

  • Sorry, Spike is definitely a dog's name! :) Any other ideas?

  • I love how gracefully she moves even though she has only 3 legs =) I'm glad she'll be alright.

  • I'm glad that another cat is safe and at home in your rescue. Thanks for saving animals!

  • Thanks for watching!

  • I love the nature and all animals, especially the tigers!

This organization make a wonderfull job.

    congratulations!

    cheers

    Bruno Sanitate

  • Thanks for the support, CHEERS!

  • she's beautiful how about chloe

  • We have a snow leopard named Cloe already, so we'll probably go with something different, thanks though!

  • How about Pistis, the greek meaning of Faith

  • Different, we have so many multi lingual viewers, it's great when it comes to name choices! :)

  • What about Morgana? It's mean Great Brightness, and that kitty seems to be bright and happy regardless of it's condition. Good job on this one by the way, poor thing deserves a good home!

  • Thanks for that suggestion, we do our best and she will be well looked after here for the rest of her days :)

  • a little over 6 months. He's 9 months old now.

  • You should name her Malina (Mah-lean-ah).

  • Does this have any meaning? Thanks!

  • The girl's name Malina is of Hawaiian origin, and its meaning is "peace".

  • Oh, nice, we will keep it in mind, thanks!

  • I think you should name her Phoenix, b/c of Arizona but also due to her 3 legs. Like the phoenix, she came through a tragedy and is still beautiful. Just like phoenixes.

  • Yeah, that's a good one, I like it :)

  • I hope they got their pumpkins today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They didn't yet, but they will, we have got some pumpkins that were donated to us after halloween, so they will be getting them this week, watch out for the video!

  • i keep a tiger and a lion when they fight guess who wins?

  • Neither one.

  • A little over 6 months. He's 9 months old now.

  • Name she Sonic! My cat's nickname is Sonic Banew and they look alike. Poor baby! She so boot! I hope she ok, please keep me updated!

  • Like sonic the hedgehog, kind of the opposite of this slow moving serval! We will keep you updated on our website BigCatRescue*org, thanks for watching :)

  • Well it's not because oh the hedgehog, just because I call my cat Sonic because she is inna boot.

  • Oh, I figured, "Sonic the Serval" does have a ring to it! :)

  • How about Mondo. That's my savannah cat's name and I guess it can be used for a female or male.

  • How long have you owned a savannah cat?

  • I never get enough out of places like this who care for injured or unwanted animals.

    Hope you won that award!

  • Thanks, we're doing our best, thanks for watching our videos :)

  • How about the name "Arizona"? She was found there, and the name may have derived from the O'odham phrase alĭ ṣonak, "small spring". As she kind of springs around on her rear leg, it seems suitable to me!

  • It is a good choice, but we already have a serval at BCR named Arizona, so we need something different, thanks though :)

  • Thanks, I'm glad another cat is named that there. Someday I hope to visit your sanctuary and meet all of them.

  • There are some rivers in Arizona with pretty names that might suit her, such as the Paria river, the Little Colorado, the Sonoita, the Agua Fria, or my favorite, Bright Angel creek! Maybe one of those?

  • Thanks for all those suggestions, we have so many options now, she will definitely get a good name :) hop you can make it to BCR someday too!

  • That gets my vote, journeyman.

  • Tribeca?

  • Loved it!

  • Yay! Now she has a great home :D

  • you should call her Tripod, that would be epic XD

  • Shades: "Tripod" is a little obvious, don't you think? This beautiful girl deserves a prettier name than that. Perhaps a better name will be thought of by someone soon.

  • Great work chaps.

  • Cheers mate!

  • ..poor cat..feeling so sorry for her..but im glad u care for her now an give her a good live from now on =) ..btw is it possible to donate via mobile phone from germany as well? ..i'd really like to somehow help u there..

  • Poor thing. I'm so glad you are getting better suggestions for a name than "Frankenkitty".

  • Yeah Frankenkitty won't be her name, don't worry :)

  • I like Catalina. Gingersnap cause of the colors!!!

  • I like Catalina too, Gingersnap is fun, thanks!

  • Poor cat, good thing it was lucky enough to be rescued, otherwise it is doubtful that she survived for long in wild without 1 leg.

  • Yes Catalina...me too that's a beautiful name for her....such a beautiful cat she must be traumatized from whats happened to her in the pass..Peace and love for her.

  • I have always liked this name for girl felines.

    A'isha (ah EE shah)

    Alive; she who lives.

  • That's unusual, I like it, thank you!

  • ..good name.

  • It's an African name, I thought it suited her. She seems to have a lot of living spirit about her.

  • i donated to Big Cat to help rescue the serval so HAPPPY :)

  • Thanks for your donation, I'm sure she will appreciate it = good food!!

  • Inspiration would be a good name :)

  • Mandy

  • She is Darling, and who ever 'dumped' her should be drawn and quartered, then let God have his way with them! Please...

  • I would name her Angelica. Cause it appears she had angels when she was dumped. It appears you are all her angels now so yes. Angelica.

  • A good name would be Tripod! But I like Catalina

  • I like Catalina also, thanks for watching :)

  • I love bigcat rescue...dont tell any1

  • Thanks!!! ?

  • Chrona

  • What does this mean???

  • Oh How about sakura! Its mean cherry blossom in japaness or or ummmm beautie

    I Got one!

She really looks like a Meme!!!!!!!!!

What a Pretty Surval! Its eyes are like glowing with hope but she looks scared kinda but i am sure she will get use to her home!

Why is she kinda separated from the other surval's?

Sorry i am asking so much its just that i wanna know as much as i can about BigCatRescu and what it does and the animals they have.

  • Meme? Where does this come from? She's just in a quieter corner of the sanctuary living next to a few bobcats we don't want to overwhelm her :)

  • Meme i just came up with it Put i really like the name rin

Its from a show i like to watch called inuyasha rin is a girl whop cares deeply for others and she travles with a demon named sesshomaru who saved her life.

But i like the name catlina or purrla

  • you should name her.... Purrl , Catlina , Rosie , Spots, Jun-Jun , May , Joy , Hope Or ummmmmmmmmmm

    Lucy or sally!

I love the survals ears! I Want to learn more about that type of animal!

Oh i just got another one! Julie

  • Thanks for the suggestions, did you watch our species spotlight about the serval? It's a video response to this video if you want to check it out?

  • Its just so sad what people do to animals right! Thats a pretty serval! Even though she is missing a leg she is perfect! Your lucky you found her. When i grow up i want to be a vet so i will try my hardest to do what i can in my age to help animals. By the way to you have any other cats that are like that? That you maybe found hurt or missing a leg or eye?

.P.S. I Want to thank that communite that helps those animals they are lucky that they get saved in time.

  • We have another serval with a unusable leg and one of our sand cats is missing a leg also. Good luck in the future, we need more people like you!!!

  • you guys are amazing! keep up the great work! :)

  • We will thanks for watching!

  • I read the story when she was first found. I'm glad she's got a safe home now. Thanks for letting us see her Scott!

  • You are AWESOME!!!! Poor baby....

  • shes a cerviver

  • shes happy and curious, she's learned to live without the leg AdvertChild98, cats are really resiliant

  • oh god, I just can't keep on watching it, it's just so sad.
