  • The interviewer is a musical charlatan, pseudo-"singer" M.G.Sreekumar who has survived in the Malayalam industry due to a thuggish cabal. He shamelessly calls himself a "classical"singer (and also admits that it took him 3 years to just learn the Janta Varisai! *LOL*) but it is pathetic to watch him struggling to follow Illayaraja on what is really a simple pattern of notes. His basic lack of stuff emerges when he is caught impromptu! This clip should be shown in reality shows with MG as judge!

  • i dont like the malayala singer sitting before maestro

  • He is a genius..he mixes different tunes to create a master piece, the way a great painter mixes colors and creates a master piece!

  • zzgani1978,ur ri8 MGS mentioned tht.obbaoduga, even ISAI GNANI s also GOD since he s creating dis many pleasant songs,so he deserve to b called as RAAGA DEVAN......

  • in the beginning of this video ,did MGS mention IR has composed songs in lakhs, .

  • Real genius and a true pious soul too.

  • @pvisuvanadan good comment

  • my heartful thanks to whoever posted these videos. My lifetime wish has come true.

  • long live ilayaraaja,

  • he only made classical music as a base to his music. he didn't copy it. he made his music uniquely. someone can copy Ilayaraja, but Ilayaraja cnnot copy anyone.

  • Man very well said.

  • In that site, it is not mentioned that Ilayaraja copied from western music, but it is mentioned that Ilayaraja inspired from western (classical) music. And, it is not a crime..and if you look carefully, western classic music and indian classic music have a lot of similarities along with the differences or the uniquenesses.

  • god created ilayaraja so that he can enjoy ilayaraja's music.

  • best comment ever!!

  • hahaha well said comment ,so far ...abt raaaaaaaajjaaa ..

  • Although I hoped to get some insight, there was none. He makes it look simple but hhow he composes is still an unknown art. How he composes those haunting interludes which suit the scene, the mood and the emotion is truly amazing. Will there ever be another Raja and will his composing methods be lost for ever ???

  • u are right. such a simple man, and looks so innocent. and yet he sets mind-blogging music scores and intreludes. don't know what his formula is. maybe he does all that at home alone.

  • Well see, he himself said once that, when he just closes his eyes,it just flows from him. In fact he says that the music flows so fast that its hard to write it down. He is what we can term a prodigy or a seer. Its humanly impossible to do what he does.

  • I completely agree with your here. We always see him with a harmonium. But how he writes those mind blowing interludes, flutes and violin pieces is still unknown. Well people close to him say that he doesnt do anything special. He comes, and just starts writing notes and thats it. Its all in his mind.... What a mind it is !!!

  • well said friend , he indeed a seer.

  • it's true. he knows how exactly each note sounds. he dont even use computer to do score. he does everything by hand. all the scores. just Amazing. i'll get tired..lol

  • Illayaraja is the best the world..

    he is my God
