  • At 0:17 great side stage view of the band, not often seen!

  • Sounds more than a bit like the Velvet Underground circa Loaded...

  • If you're a fan of The Archies, you'll probably like the fun and free weekly podcast, Echo Valley, which celebrates the great bubblegum music from the 1960's and 1970's! There's Archies music almost every week! Give it a try!

    Just Google "Echo Valley Bubblegum"!

  • betty so sucked in the new archee comic, the first in twenty years he married veronica

  • @ 0:22 jugheads hands r messed up...

  • good work. i did a mystic animation of archetypical pictures of the sun . if you like you can find them on my channel

  • Hi amunar777,

Look on iTunes. All of the original six albums are there, including the original greatest hits album, and they sound good.

  • LOL, when i first saw the "Comes the Sun" title, it made me think of the Beatles song called "Here comes the sun" XD!

  • @TiffanyTedyBear36 lol - the band was fake ... made to support the cartoon where the characters had a band - it was all tied together

  • Hello, is there an archies album or cd with this song in it? Thanks

  • Yes.

  • *Recorded in front of a live audience*

    And people died.

  • @ 1:13 Ohhhh yes. I wonder if there's a version of this on Gelbooru...

If Archie was set in modern times, Betty & Veronica wouldn't miss a beat... or Archie...

  • @archerrobinhood

info about the group from IMDB.com:

There was no actual group called "The Archies", because the "group" was created as characters on a TV cartoon show. Some of the artists who provided the voices, both on records and on the show, were Ron Dante, Ellie Greenwich, Toni Wine, Andy Kim, and Jeff Barry (who also wrote and produced many of their songs).

  • I grow up on the Archies. The Monkees and Beatles too. But I was a little boy then.

  • For an old show this is not bad. I like the flower power. ;]

  • I remember hearing this almost 40 yrs. ago. Thanks for the memories!

  • i love this video omg i miss the archies i used to watch dem when i was like 6

  • Where I can get these DVDs?

  • mas lindo esos recuerdos q no volveran

  • why is this cartoon full of bitches?!

  • @ILFZ2 because everybody likes bitches

  • A pop history website stated this is the best Beach Boys song they never recorded as it beautifully charaterises the California beach-surf scene and would've been ideal on a 1963-4 single.

Ron Dante's smooth vocals are perfect for this song.

  • oh,she heard

  • why isn't betty singing,it's her song?

  • if she didn't who would?

  • LOVE IT

  • lol! Shameless self promotion...to her own diary.

  • Another song that I love to this day.

  • I know.

  • I still have the 45's that used to come on the cereal boxes.I have got 5 of them and 1 Bobby Sherman You used to cut them out of the back .Any takers??

  • I threw them out a long time ago......DUH, now they are worth a small fortune!

  • @Shoknifeman Are they? I should look into it. I have 5 or 6 of them . I just wish my mother hadn't thrown out my Archie comics. I had around 80 of them from "67-"69

  • Yep, they are rare collectibles of the "Boomer" years...the hottest stuff after art deco

  • @TheJetfighter666 Yeah. I still remember those!! If the cereal box got all crumpled up, the record disc would be all bent out of shape and the record player needle would jump all over the place. I almost forgot about those. LOL

  • does anyone know if The Archies ever got a dvd release?

  • Yes, they did.

  • @Pterixa its on netflix

  • No, just a VD release.

  • Imiss these cartoons and great songs

  • oh yeah!

  • I am Neil Brian Goldberg. I wrote arranged & prodc'd all 32 Jukebox songs. This was originally call "Here Comes The Sun". I wrote it long before the Beatles title, but when i had a chance to use it for Archies, Beatles song was out, so I changed my title. Dante did little Beatles riff during the instr 4 fun. That's me @ Independence Hall Video. I'm running 4 Senate in Ca Goldberg4Senate com Very sad the new owners of the Archies refuse 2 pay my royalties Send $1 per viewing pls on FaceBooK

  • hi. I really welcome since much this song since I heard it for Tooncast

and I thought it was called like that of the beatles, but I really like this song, you regret what happened to those producers

but greatly commend you, good job

  • @NBG999 I am a young man. I was looking casually these Archie cartoons here. I like these songs a lot . I really like them more than the junk (raggae, ect) that are recorded today. They are inspired . You did a good work.

  • A little Beatles-inspired, isn't it? xD

  • Actually a little Donovan inspired.

  • No, my song, I was one of em - trying to save the world. Was given strict orders 'Not to say anything' - To 'Write Dumb' but I was a rebel, still am. Entertainment Rights, new owners refuse to pay my royalties, a disgrace! Pls send $1. per viewing. I'm on Facebook for an attrny. Also I'm running for Senate in Ca Goldberg4Seanate com "Scum Busters" artists rights needs atty's to go after the many theives in this industry. The geniuses R robbed & then shut out. NBG4Senate FacBk.

  • @andrewcgs I thought the Beatles were Archie-inspired? LOL

  • @kodachromefilm this apparently came out in the 70s, the beatles were more the 60s?

  • Dante did all the back ground music he was the only band member it was a one man band.

  • Jughead is a master on the drums.

  • who was the real band who recorded these songs??

  • The Archies. It was an actual band.

  • I think archerrobinhood means who were the actual people, like archie and jughead are fictional, who were the real life people?

  • The only one I truly know is Ron Dante. I'll look up the others later.

  • hmmm, I wonder why they didnt call their song 'here comes the sun'! lol

  • BECAUSE BEATLES HAVE IT NOT THEM BEATLES stealer archies

  • These were all session players that made up the Archies. My favorite commic of al time. And no Jughead's hands are right. Stop trying to disrespect the artist. His left hand is palm up and the right hand is palm down. Many pop drummers at the time drummed like this. The clothes never change because the animators wanted to keep the same wholesome appearance for the time period. Peter Parker always wears the same. So does Bruce Wayne. People stop tripping and listen to the good music.

  • This sounds just like the Partridge Family, even down to the David-Cassidy-soundalike lead singer.

  • I don't know who the the lead singer is..but I do know it's not David Cassidy...I watched a show on PBS which featured the actual lead singer...but I forget his name...Andy Kim is one of the singers in the band also..but not the lead

  • Ron Dante is the lead singer.

  • I LOVE ARCHIE COMICS!

  • That's it ! I'm gonna start an Archies tribute band. We'll get people that look like the whole gang and play only their songs. Hmmm, guess I gotta dye my hair orange.

  • already been done

  • 'Comes The Sun' was originally called 'Here Comes The Sun', (tho Goldberg wrote ths way B 4). Written by Neil Brian Goldberg, who also wrote arranged and produced, all 32 Giant Jukebox songs (Barry did Sugar. Neil wrote the 1st ecology song Mr factory. He should get a 'Lifetime Award' for these treasures, but instead, the sharks of the industry have told him he gets nothing from the new DVD, while they sell his songs online and don't even give him writer's credit. Shame on the whole dirty bunch.

  • in every single video they wear the same cloth. don't they ever take bath????LLLLOOOOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think they have a closet full of the same outfit.

  • I think they changed their outfits for the comics.

  • jughead has got his hand back to front - the animator must have been tripping on acid 0:24

  • We did have some good stuff back then..lol

  • Y'know...that's not half bad.

  • Wheres Puff the Magic Dragon!!!

  • Yay! Psychedelic bubblegum music! This is excellent.

  • thanks matey , for replying

the animation is much fresher than josie and the pussy cats so i figured it was filmation, why didnt they do josie , they are still the same comic off shoots , i have josie on video its the same format, with songs ect i think hanna barbera tapped into this concept with scooby doo after the first series ,and then with the other cartoons ,can you get the soundtrack on cd to any of these songs ,do you know who did the scooby doo songs

  • Danny Janssen did the Scooby songs. I guess Filmation was busy enough with Archie AND Sabrina. You can definitely get the Scooby songs (most of them in their original form, anyway) on a CD entitled "Scooby-Doo's Snack Tracks". As for "Josie", there is a soundtrack of those songs too but I believe it's rare (CD and otherwise). Check Amazon.

  • i think the animation company filmation did this cartoon , they did he man and she ra , but josie and the pussy cats were hanna barbera ,any body any ideas on this

  • Yes, Filmation did Archie, He-Man and She-ra. And Josie WAS animated by H-B.

  • 0:24

Hands. They Do Not Work That Way.

    Goodnight.

  • i love this song by them!

  • For a bubblegum song this has a pretty rockin' groove - the guitars are almost punkish.

  • I LOVE ARCHIE COMICS I HAVE 119 of them

  • i miss this show..

  • I love it

  • I always loved Betty...

  • Who was that girl that always chased Jughead around?

  • Big Ethel.

  • the only voice i imagined that fit the character was betty's

  • If they wanted to have a follow-up hit to "Sugar Sugar" they should have gone with this. It's really catchy.

  • Kinda kinda sounds like the Velvet Underground circa "LOADED"....

  • yes and not unlike Donavans "Hurdy Gurdy man, me thinks

  • i miss this cartoon..dont see on tv anymore :(

  • me too..

  • So inocensse , i want back those years ..

  • innocence*

  • 2:oo.... owch

  • I worship Ron Dante... what a great 70's (1969-70) music artist. Remember "Tracy?" "Sugar Sugar" was the #1 selling song for all of 1969. This is actual music behind the cartoons. Does that happen anymore?

  • >>Does that happen anymore?

This kind of thing probably won't happen again, unless they can make someone like R. Kelly into a Hanna-Barbara cartoon. Lol!

  • paul vance wrote "tracy" (cufflinks 69). he was a customer of mine once and i never met a bigger dic-.

  • really great, flower age :)

  • LOL!

  • 0h And I Love this Song!!!

  • Jughead Rocks!!!

     Woooooooooooooooo!!!

  • Ron dante is a f@#$ing Genuis..Way ahead of his time

  • i'm a singaporean so i dun getta watch archies cartoon. But its a great pLeasure just 2 read thiS comics.i got heaps of the comics sure wish i could watch

  • Well, if you can get it, the entire series was released on DVD. Of course, it aired in the 60s, so yeah... I'm not sure if it was released in your region (or anywhere besides the U.S.), but I'd suggest trying to find it.

On the other hand, you can get anything nowadays if you have money and an internet connection...

  • oh shit you're right! All those years watching the Archies and I never noticed it til now...damn you never stop learning!

  • Have anyone else but me noticed Jugheads left hand (the one closest to the screen) is drawn in such a way it looks physically impossible? Watch from 23-25 seconds in. I tried to hold a pencil like that... did not work lol.

  • How the heck does someone hold their hand like that, play the drums, and at the same time avoid getting a cramp in their wrist?!??

    XD

  • This show was animated by Filmation Associates.

  • Dude, that's creepy.

  • Alot of drummers hold their sticks that way. It's pretty common. Most prefer it, actually.

  • pretty good song ...i like "mr. factory" better

  • 1:40 = best dance move ever

and Reggie's weird ass head movement is awesome

  • I like at 1:12 how Betty and Veronica seemingly prefer each other's love over Archie's. O___o I think they make a nice couple! XD

Seriously, this was probably the best song from the show other than Sugar, Sugar.

  • This is now my favorite Archies song.

I just don't see how this couldn't have

been a hit, even at the time when so

much good music was around,I LOVE it!

  • "Let it shine, Let it Shine!" Perfect song for livin' in the Sunshine State!! :)

  • Written before, but released after the Beatles song, so the title was changed. "Comes The Sun". "My Singing Guitar", 'We're One Big Family', Sweet Saturday Night', Mr. Factory. (The first ecology song) and all 32 Giant Jukebox Archie Funhouse songs were written arranged and produced by Neil Brian Goldberg. ASCAP (Sugar Sugar was written and produced by Jeff Barry, who assigned the Giant jukebox project to Neil.)

  • I think if Betty wore her hair down, she would have been alot more popular then Veronica

  • I'm guessing that at one point, this song was titled "Here Comes the Sun", and was changed as not to cause problems with The Beatles song of the same name? Betty sounds as if she was edited just before the title, and "Comes the Sun" sounds odd regardless.

  • i love her diary entry!

  • This is my favorite Archies tune - it sounds like late Velvet Underground!

  • Who had idea of songs they did any changes u know of lyrics u know of

  • maybe you could rephrase that?

  • One of the best and most under-rated Archies songs ever.

  • :) Apetrix already posted these videos, but I'm still saving them to my favorites! :) :) :)
