@TruckerBill9 Depends if you only play gears for the multiplayer. The campaign is good in gears 2, but once gears 3 comes out I doubt there will be much of anyone playing gears 2 online. Since you can't pick which match to be in gears 2 because there's no dedicated servers, trying to find a game via matchmaking will probably take "forever" by the time gears 3 launches. Even now it takes a while.

@TIme2BelieveInMe Get Gears of War 3, i participated and the beta and it worked wonders. With the dedicated servers the games works great online, so i suggest picking up GoW3, i know I am. Btw the gears of war 2 lag isn't as bad anymore, sometimes it's still there but not to this extreme.

As a few people have already said, this is a lag switch, and not the connection... Plus the connection for gears of war for me atleast is actually very good and i have encountered a laggy game for a month or 2 now. This game is so much fun so i wouldnt really listen to this video for this video was like a year ago.. Best game out by far right now.

see the difference between gears1 and gears2 is in gears one you can see your bullet lag and gears 2 you cant so most of the gears1 had bad lag cause people had shitty connections atleast i knew where to shoot in gears one in gears to idk if to shoot ahead or not find out when i start to fight someone

well, i love halo and gears 2 pretty much the same, but it its true that the lag situation in halo ist almost unreal, but in gears the lag its always there, i mean not everyone can afford 15mb connections, epic should fix this situation by using the connection scanner used in halo 3, which makes the one with the best connection host, but i think epic its more worried about DLC than fixing the multiplayer experience....

for christ sakes you cant blame this on the game, its the host connection that causes this, it is made worse by the fact that the Americans almost always get host, which creates bad lag for europeans and asians. the Lag is now greatly improved from when the game was first released and if i can actually get host (rare occurence) then nobody lags, even the americans have near flawless connection. its the priority going to americans over quality of connection that is to blame. its much better now!

erm....i never have lag like this in halo, nor have ever heard of anyone else with issues on halo like these that gears has. Gears is a good game but you have to be blind to say its not laggy. Halo rarely lags, lag is so implemented into Gears its pretty much part of the play style. Point blank, halo's shotty kills almost 80 percent of the time in one hit, gears youre lucky if you kill on the 2nd point blank.

Really? I thought Halo 3 was great. For me it's:

Halo 3 = Best. Had the best multiplayer, exciting firefights

Halo 1 = 2nd best. Had the best campaign/story

Halo 2 = 3rd best. Nice campaign, nice multiplayer, but not as good as parts 1 & 3.

As for the video, that lag was pretty bad. I was loling when the bullets took 2 seconds to hit the ground.

Your mistake was showing a game with extreme lag, and that's not really a good way to show the flaw of the game's net code. The people watching this are going to automatically assume your connection was the problem, not the game's netcode. You have to show that even in the best case scenario, meaning, little lag, the game still show bullet lag and how it affects the game. Using extreme cases to prove something is useless and inefficient.

okay im a vary regular gears player often play non stop for a couple of hours and when i play i only ever get lag like this once every week and all this stuff about luck is bullshit a skilled player can get plenty of kills without host advantage (i can so others must be able two) and gears of war 2 multiplayer is so much better than halos...halos multiplayer requires no skill a complete newb to the game can win a match with ease and there is lag on the game anyway so really gears is far better

i was playing in a game, on a good connection i can break even or go posititive but the more recent games ive had were like 7 and 20 or 5 and 14...my shots never seem to land, i melee setting up for a two piece and he shoots me instead one shotting me..i got torqued through a wall, i got a grenade that didnt go off the first time i went by it then it went off just as i was leaving nade spawn...ive hit people with direct hits to their faces, torsos and they dont die.

just unplug your ethernet cable. There aint no penalty when you do that. Also you dont have to go to the dashboard. By unplugging the ethernet cable takes you strait  to the main menu. Simple as that.

Nice video utubeguy but in all fairness you where in a pretty bad room. Usually the average lag for ppl who aren't the host is 1 to 2/10th of a second. That's the average lag. The lag you had was at least a full second and a half. That happens at times but the best thing to do is just leave. Again nice vid 5 stars

If you don't want to lose 1500 XP points when you quit because of the lag, unplug your Ethernet cable from the end that connect to your 360.  Works with wireless also.

Epic studios only has 150 people on staff..clearly they can't handle the multiplayer connection aspect of this game so they need to out source it to anyother company like they did with UT3. dedicated servers are the only way to go with a title like this. just too many animations/calculations I will not be buying Gears 3 if they do not have dedicated servers I advise everyone else to do the same.

I've quit playing , and lots of my friends have reverted back to Call of Duty.. It's sad realy , This game has potential to be the Best game online ... but to have it gutted by poor connections.
